Cyberpunk 2077: Stadia vs Xbox Series X, Digital Foundry elects the best version

Digital Foundry offers a new in-depth analysis of Cyberpunk 2077, in this case making the Stadia version “collide” with the Xbox Series X version.

Digital Foundry once again tested the now infamous Cyberpunk 2077 comparing the Stadia version and the Xbox Series X version. From what we can find out, according to the newspaper, Microsoft’s version is superior overall, but Google’s cloud gaming platform is able to win a few rounds.

First of all, Digital Foundry explains to us that the Stadia version allows you to activate a mode within the game to optimize the FPS and one to optimize the graphic quality. In the latter mode Cyberpunk 2077 travels around 1440p and 1584p, compared to the dynamic 1620p and 1800p of the Xbox Series X. Speaking instead of the mode for the frame rate, the Microsoft console settles between 1080p and 1620p, while on Stadia we drop down to 810p – 972p. Clearly not an optimal resolution, but this is not the only relevant detail.

Stadia is in fact able to offer a version of Cyberpunk 2077 much more detailed in some scenarios. First of all, it seems that Stadia’s texture cache is greater than that of the opponent, as various objects have higher resolution textures. As for the shadows, on Xbox Series X the quality is higher, but the distance at which they appear is higher on Stadia. Xbox Series X, however, has a higher resolution of volumetric light.

Overall, Cyberpunk 2077’s performance on Xbox Series X is superior, but in various scenarios the distance between the two versions isn’t particularly great. The Microsoft console is more stable when it comes to FPS as far as too Stadia manages to keep 30 frames in visual quality mode. Stadia also fails to maintain 60 fps in dedicated mode, but travels between 45 and 55 frames per second: worse than the opponent, but not too far away.

Digital Foundry tells us that, compared to PS5, Stadia has a higher level of detail, although the Sony version is the most stable in terms of frame rate. Also, the Stadia version is superior to the Xbox Series S version. The header points out another big advantage of the cloud edition: accessibility. Considering that playing on older generation consoles is absolutely not recommended, it is currently “mandatory” to buy PS5, Xbox Series X or a high-end PC to play in good quality. With Stadia, however, the problem is around: obviously it can be said of most of the AAA games available on the platform.

Finally, it must be remembered that this analysis is linked to the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 without technical upgrade: a dedicated patch should arrive during the year, so the comparison will have to be repeated. We also remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 is the most profitable game on Steam for the 7th week in a row.
