Apple Is Getting Closer to Creating Scratch-Proof iPhones; Learn More!

Apple, as a technological pioneer, continually dominates the field of invention, with a staggering 95,500 international patent applications. In its secret labs, it is continually developing new technologies and groundbreaking items. Despite the fact that not all of these advances will be commercialized, the new patent shows a hopeful future. Apple is working hard to improve the durability of its products. Let us now delve deeper into how the iPhone manufacturer is attempting to achieve this goal.

Is a Scratch-Resistant iPhone in the Works?

According to Patently Apple, the US Patent and Trademark Office has granted Apple permission to design wear-and-tear-resistant electronic devices. This suggests that the Cupertino-based tech titan may develop iPhones, iPads, and even MacBooks with scratch-resistant rear panels (made of both glass and metal). This has been made possible by the inventive work of Apple’s engineering team, which includes Christopher Prest, Stephen Lynch, and Teodor Dabov.

Apple is developing a “scratch-proof film composed of metal or ceramic embedded within a malleable matrix,” according to the patent application. Apple has coined the term ‘Spatial Composites’ to describe this innovative technology. As a result, the metal and ceramic composite will have scratch-resistant properties, increasing the lifetime of the back panel and minimizing surface disturbance. The thickness of the final base layer will be between 10 and 100 microns.

The unique substrate layer will be “designed to refract light at a certain angle,” which is an intriguing element of this patent that attracted our curiosity. This implies that your iPhone will be susceptible to scratches. The light striking the rear panel, on the other hand, will be distributed in such a way that the back panel appears blemished. The visual information conveyed to your brain as a result of this dispersion effect will provide the impression that your gadget is free of scratches.

When fully completed, this technology will work in tandem with Apple’s Ceramic Shield technology, which was initially launched with the iPhone 12 series. While this will not make your iPhone immortal, it will undoubtedly improve its durability.

Scratches on electronic gadgets, such as cellphones, are widespread. Despite your best efforts, your smartphone is likely to develop scratch marks over time. There are numerous ways for your electronic gadgets to get scratches, such as an unintentional encounter with a coin or the careless act of putting your phone in the same pocket as your keys. Metal and glass are particularly susceptible to this, but plastic may provide some respite. However, it is crucial to highlight that this problem cannot be totally avoided.

The approval of this patent by Apple increases the likelihood of a scratch-resistant iPhone appearing in the future. Could this suggest that iPhone cases are on their way out? The only way to know is to wait and see.

WhatsApp will stop working on these iPhones in 2024 with no turning back

There is nothing eternal. Not even WhatsApp. The most popular messaging app It is one of the ones that offer the most support for years, both Android phones and iPhone. However, it is common for some devices to withdraw support. And unless there is a surprise, in 2024 it will happen again.

Currently, WhatsApp compatibility with iPhones, as indicated on their website, ranges from iOS 12 onwards, although it could vary this year. If you have an iPhone with iOS 17, you shouldn’t worry, but if your iPhone is already somewhat old and it does not update to the latest versions, perhaps you should start thinking about renewing it if you want to continue using WhatsApp.

What does it mean that WhatsApp stops being compatible with an iPhone

No matter how popular an app is, its developers cannot continue to support every device in the world. It is not the most optimal for technical and economic purposes. Requires many resources and it pays more for them to cover more recent models, which tend to be the majority. Furthermore, as we said at the beginning, in the case of WhatsApp, very extensive support is provided in itself.

The way to discern between devices is not by specific models, but by the software version they have. As you probably already know, there comes a time when iPhones stop receiving iOS updates. Thus, WhatsApp offers support for a few versions prior to the current iOS 17, but not all.

Initially, WhatsApp may continue to be functional, but there will come a time when we cannot even send messages.

What happens when an iPhone stops having WhatsApp support is that the application can no longer be updated, no matter how hard we try through the App Store. Although at first we could continue using the app to send and receive messages as before, no visual and functional updates will be received, nor will possible errors be corrected.

In fact, There may come a time when you can no longer even use the app. because a warning message appears on the screen asking the user to update the app. Since it cannot be updated, there will be no possible solution beyond changing the iPhone to a more recent one that does have support.
