Final Fantasy XVI: “The Rising Tide” will most likely demand a lot from you

The DLC announcement too Final Fantasy XVI may not have come as a surprise to fans of the game. Locked doors and a few things that were touched on but not discussed further until the end of the credits. No big question marks, but room for expansion. The first DLC, “Echoes of the Fallen,” is already available. “The Rising Tide” is scheduled to follow in the spring.

GameSpot spoke to DLC director Takeo Kujiraoka about the contents of the season pass. He revealed that the difficulty level for the DLCs had been increased because this was feedback that they received immediately after the release of Final Fantasy XVI.

“We intentionally changed the balance of battles compared to the main game. In particular, we have increased the overall strength of enemies in the DLC,” said Kujiraoka. Anyone who has already completed the boss fight in “Echoes of the Fall” will probably agree with Kujiraoka. He goes on to say that the basic game was deliberately made a little easier.

“This is partly because we set the enemy strength a bit low in the main game to ensure that as many players as possible could reach the end. But the reactions of the players and the streams showed me that we could perhaps set the enemy strength a little higher,” explains Kujiraoka.

In addition, the DLC content will only become accessible shortly before the end of the game and fans will therefore already be familiar with the combat system. Do you welcome the increased difficulty of “Echoes of the Fallen” and what do you hope for “The Rising Ride”?

Watching Formula 1 becomes a lot more expensive with F1 TV Pro

In the Netherlands you have two ways to watch Formula 1. A subscription via Viaplay was long considered the more expensive option, while F1 TV Pro was known as the cheaper alternative. This has now partly come to an end, the subscription to F1 itself has become a lot more expensive in the run-up to the new season.

It is still just under two months until the new Formula 1 season starts on February 21 with the first tests in Bahrain, after which the first real race starts on March 2. Yet the 2024 Formula 1 season starts on a downer. Anyone who wants to follow the preparations, qualifications and races on TV will pay a lot more this year for their subscription to F1 TV from the Formula 1 organization itself.

You get the live feeds directly from the source. In addition, F1 TV Pro was also the cheaper option to follow the Formula 1 races. For 64.99 you were done and could follow all weekends throughout the year.

Unfortunately, the F1 organization has decided that the subscription could become a bit more expensive and has increased the price for the coming season by more than 45 percent to 94.99 euros for a year. A monthly subscription is also still possible and will now cost 11.90 euros per month.

Price increases do not apply to everyone

Fortunately, the significant price increase does not apply to everyone. Anyone who already has a current subscription can renew it for the old price of 64.99 euros. F1 TV has not yet confirmed this, but an increase in the subscription price must be announced at least a month in advance and that has not yet been done. So it seems that existing subscribers are getting away with it.

  • Take out your F1 TV Pro subscription here for 94.99 euros per year

Anyone who purchases an F1 TV Pro subscription will not only have access to the live broadcasts of F1 TV during the race weekends, but also the previews and afterthoughts, tech talk and access to the enormous archive of summaries of all previously completed races.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is censored in Japan, but fans are having a lot of fun with it

Spike Chunsoft released the Japanese version of on December 21st Baldur’s Gate 3 published by Larian Studios for the PS5. Japanese fans who have already gotten their hands on a copy seem particularly amused by the creative decisions involved in self-censoring the characters’ private parts.

Even before release, it was announced that the Japanese PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 would contain some changes compared to the global version – that is, explicit content such as depictions of blood and genitals would be self-censored.

While the standard version of the game lets you choose whether to allow or hide nudity in cutscenes, these options have been removed from the Japanese version, making it censored by default.

However, the self-censorship of characters’ genitals using a single, carefully placed fig leaf appears to have had primarily a comedic effect. The amusing measure even contributed to that people are completely okay with these cuts. But why is it so popular?

Yatta!

Well, for one thing, it’s simply an amusing picture. But there is a little more context: namely a bizarre song and music video that has apparently burned itself into the collective memory of many Japanese people. We’re talking about “Yatta!”, a parody song from 2001 by the fictional boy band “Green Leaves”. The music video shows the members wearing nothing more than their underwear with a fig leaf detail. The song was a chart hit at the time and lives on today as an immortal internet meme.

But back to Baldur’s Gate 3. Why is the Japanese version censored at all? Games ported to consoles in Japan must limit depictions of genitalia to comply with CERO guidelines. Fortunately, there are no regulations regarding the form in which this self-censorship must take place. Hence the amusing fig leaf approach, which has apparently hit a completely unexpected nerve of nostalgia among Japanese players.

In any case, the creative decision to censor character privacy in Larian Studio’s Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to have struck a completely unexpected chord of nostalgia and humor among Japanese gamers.

Who is Mustio really? This Baldur’s Gate 3 fan theory makes a lot of sense and hides a surprising secret

An interesting fan theory could have revealed to us theMustio’s true identitythat strange undead that accompanies us throughout our journey in Baldur’s Gate 3. Picked up by MeinMMO, this tells us that our good friend is actually Yérgal, the god of death in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Of course, we are talking about the plane of Faerûn, this being the location in which the events of the video game take place. To explain this theory, the community has compiled some very interesting information that I personally think is complemented by an unmentioned detail that is related to the end of the game.

This would be Mustio’s true identity in Baldur’s Gate 3

Right off the bat, the first point they use to justify that Mustio is the god of death it is that he has the gift of bringing to life all those allies —of our group— who have fallen in various circumstances. Unlike an ordinary necromancer, they do not return as zombies, but in all their splendor.

The second point through which they have supported this theory is a story. already in act 2 we can find the diary of a homeless man who narrates his meeting with Yérgal. His description, as our colleagues at SamaGame.com tell us, is very similar to Mustio’s, as he defines him as a creature “masked in gold, his skin thin and worn like parchment” which also gives him asked “How much is the life of a single mortal worth?“.

Without a doubt, this situation will sound familiar to you, because it is the same thing that questions us when we meet him. Finally, and this is one that I recommend you not read if you haven’t finished the game, when we reach the end, in certain circumstances we have a post-credits scene in which Yérgal talks about The Three Dead as if he knew them while belittling their figure when considering that they are not true gods.

F1 TV Pro will receive Dutch commentary, but only a lot later

F1 TV Pro, the streaming service of Formula 1 owner Liberty Media, seemed to have to do without Dutch commentary this year. The service will now receive commentary in our own language, we just have to wait a little longer.

Those who watched Formula 1 via F1 TV Pro in the past few years could simply enjoy Olav Mol’s commentary. That’s because you can choose your own commentary with the streaming service, for example you can also listen to the British duo David Croft and Martin Brundle. Remarkably enough, it was only stated in the FAQ for the upcoming season that there was no longer an option for Dutch commentary.

  • Order F1 merch from your favorite teams at bol.com now!

Fortunately, that has now changed. F1 TV Pro has announced via an e-mail that the streaming service will have six languages to choose from, including Dutch. That reports GPfans. Unfortunately, our language is an exception, because it is not immediately available from the start of the season. Only from June will users be able to opt for Dutch commentary.

What is the reason behind the delay?

Why there is so much delay for only the Dutch commentary is not clear. The commentary in recent seasons has of course been provided by Ziggo, which is a sister company of Liberty Media, the owner of F1. Now that Viaplay owns the rights for Formula 1 in the Netherlands, the collaboration has no longer become so obvious. Viaplay is owned by Nordic Entertainment Group, which is a competitor of Liberty Media.

It is therefore not clear whether Liberty Media and Viaplay have reached an agreement. It is possible that the Dutch commentary will not be provided by the new streaming service, but that F1 TV Pro will provide its own commentary. In the meantime, subscribers can choose from English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese commentary.
