That gave me the idea of comparing the main services available in Spain, to see which ones offered the best bitrate and with what codec (H.265 / HEVC, H.264 / AVC, etc). The winner was clear: Apple TV +, followed somewhat by far by Disney +, Netflix and Prime Video, in that order. However, as we already discussed, the important thing was not only the number, but also the codec.
Prime Video and Netflix coincide in some content in Full HD: according to our tests, the quality provided by Amazon in them is higher
In this sense, I have been doing tests comparing content available on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which They are the platforms that offer higher quality than those that have a lot of content from different production companies (HBO, unfortunately, cannot be taken into account for this), and I have observed that Prime Video is better in Full HD compared to what the numbers said, thanks to the fact that it broadcasts all its contents in HEVC / H.265, opposite to Netflix, which below 4K broadcasts in the old H.264, a less efficient format and which, at the same bitrate, offers less quality.
H.264 vs H.265: what the theory says
H.264 is a high compression codec that began to be developed in 2003 and whose last version dates from June 2004. It has been key in the success of high definition, because thanks to its compression and quality over MPEG-2, the codec used in DVD has allowed Blu-Ray and quality mass streaming video to exist.
But like everything, it ends up becoming relatively obsolete, and for 4K video a new codec was needed, the H.265 or HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding). H.265 has been associated with that resolution since the arrival of the first 4K TVs (actually since the first generation of really prepared, because there was no content before), and is the format used in 4K Blu-Ray.
Why? The first reason is simple: it allows the space occupied by files of similar quality to be cut in half thanks to better compression algorithms. At equal bitrate or bitrate, video quality in H.265 is much better than in old H.264, and the artifacts are much less obvious.
With a lower bitrate, as we said, occupying less, H.265 is also better up to a certain ratio. It is ideal for 4K because, despite carrying frames four times larger than those of Full HD, with bitrates such as 15-25 Mbps, an image quality is obtained that without being that of a physical disk, is absolutely enjoyable on Netflix, and on all on Disney + and Apple TV +. Although looking ahead there is already a new codec war, it is important to mention that H.265 is more than ready for 8K and high frame rates.
Amazon Prime Video versus Netflix: What Happens in Practice
As I said at the beginning, I have been able to perform tests with an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and with an LG OLED C9 TV, both in the Fire applications and in the native ones on TV. Thanks to an Amazon developer tool, when watching video b (and HDR type etc).
With this tool I have been able to verify that even old series such as ‘Stargate SG-1’, present on Amazon without even 720p resolution (640 x 360), are encoded in HEVC / H.265, as seen in the codec section of the information that the Fire Stick 4K gives. On Netflix, on the other hand, everything that I have been able to test below 4K video is encoded in H.264 / AVC.
Above, using H.265 they look splendid and in 4K they beat Amazon thanks to their Dolby Vision. Perhaps with other devices there is better support, but in the many in which I have tried (also with PC and Mac laptops, and in summer with the Apple TV 4K) they tell me that reality is as I describe it.
To see what differences there are in practice, I have compared 1080p content found on both platforms, like the film series ‘Oceans’, ‘Aquaman’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘V for Vendetta’, among others like ‘Friends’, and in my opinion, the differences are very palpable, especially when viewed on televisions Large 4K.
Prime Video apps are worse, but picture quality can make up for it. The Harry Potter saga, for example, on Amazon is in 4K HDR, while on Netflix it is only in Full HD.
Netflix boasts of its compression and achieves wonders, but the truth is that with H.264 it cannot approach what Amazon achieves with H.265 in FullHD video. It is something very evident in dark scenes, or in bright ones where there are dim areas. There, the naturalness and texture of skins in low bitrates like the ones we talked about on Prime and Netflix (4-6 mbps) is conspicuous by its absence in complicated scenes on Netflix, and it holds up surprisingly well on Prime.
It shows in sharpness, but also in artifacts. With this bitrate you can never expect wonders, but where Prime Video sometimes gives you a homogeneous and fixed image in terms of color and texture continuity, Netflix gives you a video full of moving artifacts. The difference becomes dramatic in fine detail. When there is a very intense solid color reflecting off one face of the skin, for example, Prime has a hard time showing detail, for example, but on Netflix it gets to wash off completely. Let’s see concrete examples. It is a pity that due to DRM issues we cannot take screenshots, so I have chosen to take photos of the screen trying to show the differences that I saw.
Netflix compression on the Full HD content we have analyzed destroys film-grain detail and introduces artifacts that Prime Video solves much better.
The first example is from ‘Aquaman’. First we will see the photo I took on TV playing the Amazon Prime Video version and then the Netflix version. Beyond the variables that you introduce that both photos do not come out the same, andIn the case of Amazon, I see that the wrinkles on the skin are more outlined, and the skin in general has more texture. In addition, in the beard you can see that Amazon retains the detail much better when compressing. In motion, the differences are more noticeable. For those who want to do the test, this is the scene where Aquaman is with his father at the bar.
In the next scene, I have captured George Clooney’s face at the beginning of ‘Oceans 11’. Without perhaps being so dramatic the difference, because for me in the first example it is, in the cheekbone that is to the left of the nose, in Amazon Prime Video I see that the pores of the skin are clearly shown, while on Netflix, although the detail is not bad, the image comes loaded with an amalgam of artifacts I repeat, in person and in motion they are better appreciated.
In other examples of the film it is still appreciated. On this shadowed wall, in the case of Amazon Prime Video, classic film grain is seen alongside the lines on the wall, while In Netflix, in addition to not being able to appreciate the detail or the separation between the different tiles, the grain is destroyed by artifacts.
Yet another example where is clearly visible in the letters at the bottom of the poster and in the shadow detail behind the columns.
In scenes where the camera puts the emphasis on letters on a plain background, like the one we see below, it is also perfectly observed that the text on Amazon is cleaner and more detailed (despite the fact that the photo is not good), while in Netflix the detail is smoother and text is surrounded by compression artifacts. Perhaps the Amazon shot is not appreciated too well, due to the effects of the screen that the camera captures, but the Netflix problem is perfectly observed.
In the last comparison we have made, in the first chapter of ‘Friends’, there is also much more grain in the Amazon Prime Video image than the Netflix image. We may not like the film grain, but the reality is that the Blu-Ray from which the videos of both platforms are extracted contains that grain and is how the series was recorded, so it reflects reality much better. We can see it both in the face and in the yellow jacket and in the blue garment.
Since I first saw Friends in high definition, which was on Netflix, i thought the image contained a lot of artifacts on the faces and they were heavily washed, at once. Phoebe’s face is the perfect example to realize this.
In summary, it would be appreciated if Netflix could encode all its contents again to offer them in H.265 or in more modern codecs such as AV1 or H.266, because in movies and series from a few years ago and today it offers a lower image quality. And it is not a trivial topic. During the quarantine, many people complained about Netflix’s image quality outside of 4K, and we already know that it was not because it was not 4K, but because at an already limited quality, they applied large bitrate reductions, which weighed down greatly the experience.
If the content is 4K, no problemThere, those of Reed Hastings do it very well and offer Dolby Vision where Amazon only offers, in general, HDR10.

There is a lot of desire for a series about Berserk, which actor do we choose?
After the success of the One Piece live action, and the imminent arrival of Yu Yu Hakusho, the community has begun to fantasize about creating a Berserk series. Time and experience have shown us that you do not know how to add better ideas than those already contained in the author’s original work. This is so, so let’s choose actors, producers, directors and writers who are clear about this and who are committed to making a good and faithful adaptation.
Henry Cavill would be a perfect Guts
There are more reasons to want Henry as Guts. To begin with, his excellent physical tone matches that of Berserk’s antihero. They both have a similar height. It is estimated that the warrior is 1.90, and the actor is 1.85. Furthermore, both share the same languid look and a certain tenderness when it comes to smiling. And I think these characteristics are key to adapting it well.
And there is also another positive factor. Since Guts has short hair, Henry wouldn’t have to wear another terrible wig like the one he wore in The Witcher. So it’s all advantages. Of course, there is a problem with the choice of this actor. The best arc of the entire manga takes place when Guts is very young, so we would have to find an actor to play him as a teenager. Anyway, choose whoever you choose, please, that is not Robert Pattinson nor Ben Affleck. They are two names that are also being considered, and I don’t think the role suits them at all. But what do I know, I didn’t like them as Batman either. If I had to choose a Japanese actor, the truth is that I would choose Mackenyu. He does a great job playing the beastly Zoro. Can you imagine him being Guts and looking as hard as he looks at Griffith? Now that I think about this character, Robert Pattinson may have played Griffith well.

A couple of weeks ago we told you that season 3 of ‘Entrevías’ had had a weak premiere in Telecinco. In fact, that episode had marked the minimum in both audience and share of the series until then, but it was clear that it had still gone down, and so it has been: ‘Llanto’, the third episode of this season, has made a new all-time low.
A tremendous fall
Specifically, ‘Llanto’ has been the first episode of ‘Entrevías’ that has not even reached one million viewers -a very pronounced drop compared to the 2,183,000 viewers that the first episode of the series had in February 2022- during its free broadcast, since it has remained at 925,000 viewers, which also translates into a scarce 9, 9% share. These are bad data but to find a positive side, Telecinco had an average share of 9.6% this past September. And the chain urgently needs changes.
The point is that from the first to the third episode there has already been a significant drop, going from 11.2% to 9.9%, the most likely being that the series starring Jose Coronado keep losing viewers. In this way, his future seems clearly linked to the data he can make when he arrives on Netflix, where his two previous seasons were great successes.
With everything, the decision on a possible cancellation will still take some time to arrivesince Telecinco announced that they expected filming for season 4 to end in January 2024. How to add new users on Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One, from Gamertags to Guest Accounts
The first time you start your Xbox console, you will need to sign in with a Microsoft account. This will be the main account of the console, and if you only need one user you will have everything ready.
Of course, you may want to add additional accounts that belong to others, which is quite useful if they have their own games that they want to bring to the console, or simply to continue their progress in a game or to get Achievements.
To add users, press the Guide button (the one with the Xbox logo) on your controller. A menu will appear on the left side of the screen.
Now go right to the end, to Profile and System.
Select the Add or Change option. A list of available accounts will appear on your console. If you have already added other users, they will appear here.
You have two other options at the bottom: Add Guest and Add New.
Add Guest allows you to create a temporary account, quite useful if a friend comes and wants to join a local cooperative game but doesn’t care about Achievements. This will create an account with the same name as the current one and a number behind it.
Add New allows you to add an additional Microsoft account connected with your Xbox data.
It has the same level of security as entering any other device, so if you need extra authentication to enter, make sure you have everything you need on hand.
When you enter you can choose the level of access available to that account in the console, for example asking for the password every time someone tries to enter. This is quite useful if you want to access this same console later, but do not want anyone to use it by accident.
How to remove Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One users
First, you will have to open the Settings app. It’s probably one of your most recent apps, so it will already be on the home screen, but if you can’t find it:

From the main dashboard of the console, press Y to search by name
Select ‘My games and apps’ (it’s always on the main dashboard), Apps on the left, and then Settings

A list of all accounts on the system will appear, from Gamertags to Guests. Select one and then tap Delete.

Demo versions of the seventh and eighth episodes were leaked online, and against this background, rumors arose that because of this, they decided to reshoot the final act.
At first, the authors denied it, but the actors also supported this theory. However, later the creators of the series still confirmed that they were not filming the 8th episode, but decided to completely remake it.
We have already finished watching the series, watched the leaked versions and are in a hurry to share our impressions. The main article will be without spoilers so as not to spoil the experience, but we will add a block in which we will discuss the ending (it is hidden, do not open it if you have not seen the ending yet).
How did the project turn out? Let’s figure it out.
Boys’ squabbles and what they lead to
If for some reason you don’t yet know what this series is, read our first opinion. All the details are there.
The last episode lasted 58 minutes. It, like the entire show, is based on Robert Garayev’s book “The Boy’s Word. Criminal Tatarstan 1970-2010s” and talks about youth groups of the late 1980s.
This does not mean that the movie follows the book exactly. But it adheres to many points in the original source.
I’ve seen a lot of controversy about the series itself. Many people are convinced that he romanticizes gangsterism and condones such behavior, but this is absolutely not the case.
This is a case where you shouldn’t judge by its cover. Indeed, the project attracts attention with its not-so-great characters and shows their “coolness” from the very first episodes. But the essence lies in the very disclosure of the idea. The series aims at something completely different, namely demonstrating the consequences of such behavior.
People can also be understood. After all, from the very first episodes it is obvious what young people can be inspired by (although there is a rating of 18+, but who stops): robberies, “squeezing” purses, small items and so on. There have been various discussions on this topic more than once, and there was even news that teenagers allegedly tried to repeat the actions of the series. The latter, however, has not yet been officially confirmed.
However, this is a demonstration of real life. And it is not as rosy as some would like.
“The Boy’s Word” is a story of a man coming of age. Inevitably painful and aggravated by geopolitical shifts in the history of the country. This project talks about real people and their destinies, and in one of the episodes it even clearly writes what happened to some of the heroes. And, believe me, there is nothing inspiring here.
However, I have quibbles with the execution or development of some of the characters. The same Aigul does not get the most pleasant development of her story, but it’s as if you don’t want to worry about her, because she was given little screen time. And where she took part, we mostly heard silence.
There are also overactings, typical of young actors. But this has almost no effect on the overall perception of the project. You see that here they tried to really bring to life that bygone era, the time of perestroika and the difficult life of the ordinary population.
And for such moments I would like to express special respect.
Why is it worth watching episode 8 again if you saw the leaked one?
Earlier, demo versions of the last two episodes of “A Boy’s Word” appeared online. They had their rough patches, and the final episode even featured blue and green screens.
These episodes were not processed. They were prepared for demonstration to the production staff, and they showed only the initial ideas that were glued together into the finished episode.
And if the merged 7th episode differs from the release one in small details, then in the 8th episode the second half turned out to be completely different. The points in history are placed approximately the same, but the goals for achieving them differ. These stories are told in a completely different way, and the final version turned out to be more dramatic and vibrant, as the authors promised us.
How did “The Boy’s Word” end?

Digital Foundry tested the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of Lords of the Fallen. Even after the patches, the Xbox consoles are struggling with frame rate drops down to the single digits.
The Xbox Series S Performance Mode has a 720p dynamic resolution between 768×432 – 1280×720. The frame rate in this mode usually fluctuates between 60 and 40 FPS. You experience a serious drop in resolution and FPS in the boss fight against Pieta. Here the resolution drops to the minimum of 432p while only 21 – 25 frames per second are achieved. In this case, the image quality during movement is often poor.
In smaller, closed dungeons, the Xbox Series S can reach 60 FPS. One problem is the frame time “delivery”, which can lead to sudden drops below 10 FPS. Another patch is needed here.
The Xbox Series In the tutorial and the first areas, the console maintains 60 FPS almost continuously, the Pieta boss fight and also the Skyrest Hub push the performance into the 40 FPS range.
While overall performance is better than that of the Xbox Series S, there are still stutters and loss of performance. After about two hours of play, a bug occurred with a performance drop of up to 1 FPS, which could be resolved by restarting the game.
