How to sign up and download the beta version of Spotify, both on Android and iOS

Today we are going to explain how to sign up and download the beta version of Spotify, both on Android and iOS. If you want to try out the new features and additions they are experimenting with in the app before making them public, Spotify lets you do so by joining their group of beta testers.

The idea of these betas is that some users can test the new versions of the app and report bugs before they are published. We are going to explain the steps you must follow to become part of these trial users whether you have an Android mobile or an iPhone. On Android you will also have an Alpha program, while on iPhone you will have to fight with the limit of 10,000 beta testers imposed by Apple.

Before launching, one thing you have to understand is that beta versions of an application are just that, trial versions, which means that they have not been debugged and you may run into bugs from time to time. Therefore, if you do not want an unstable version that may have more errors than the account, you’d better stick with the conventional version.

Sign up for the Spotify beta on Android

To sign up for the Spotify beta on Android, the first thing you have to do is join the Google group of Spotify beta testers. To do this, enter THIS ADDRESS, and on the website you are entering, when the dialogue message appears, click on the button Join this group to do it. It is an essential prerequisite.

Once you have associated your Google account to the group of beta testers, you now have to go to the Spotify testers page on Google Play. You can enter it IN THIS LINK. Once you’re inside click on the button Become a tester to definitively access the application’s trial version program.

And that’s it, from now on you are part of the Spotify beta tester community, and you can now access their trial versions. All you have to do is go to the Spotify app on Google Play. There, you will see that you can update the app if you have it installed. Click on the Update button, and the beta version will install on top of the normal app. If you don’t already have Spotify installed, if you click on download you will directly download the beta version.

Exit the beta and try the Alpha version

If at any time you want exit the beta version of Spotify, you will have to go back to the Spotify testers page on Google Play and click on the Exit button. Once you have done this, the next time Spotify is updated you will receive the normal application. If you can’t wait, you can simply uninstall the one you have and reinstall Spotify again after exiting the beta.

In addition to the beta program, there is also a program of Alpha versions of Spotify which you can access IN THIS LINK. Of course, keep in mind that if the beta versions are already unstable, alpha versions of an app are even more unstable, so it is not recommended to access them if you do not want to expose yourself to numerous bugs and errors.

Sign up for the Spotify beta on iOS

The first thing you have to do to access the Spotify beta on your iPhone is download the TestFlight app. You can find it in the App Store, and it is used to access all the applications that have a beta phase on iOS.

In second place, you have to enter the invitation link to the Spotify beta, which in this case is THIS LINK. There is bad news, and that is Apple puts a limit of 10,000 people for betas. This means that when you try to enter you may not be able to sign up, and that you will have to wait until it coincides that someone has abandoned it to take their place.

When you enter the link, if there is room to access the beta you will have to click on the button Start the tests. That will take you to a screen where now you will only have press the Install button of the application under test to download it to the device.

And that’s it. When you do all this you will download the beta version of Spotify on iOS. In the application icon, a yellow circle will appear next to the name to indicate that it is the beta version. Remember that these versions are unstable, although in return you will be able to try all the new features that the application is experimenting with.

How to install the Spotify website as a PWA application on your computer

We are going to explain to you how to install the Spotify website as a PWA application on your computer. Progressive web applications (PWA) are a method with which even if your PC does not have a specific application available for a service, you can make your web page behave as such. For this you will need a browser compatible with this technology. We are going to use Chrome but you have others like Firefox or Edge that also support them.

In this article we are going to start with the simple process of installing the Spotify PWA, which you can do directly from your web player. Later we will tell you how to configure Chrome to allow you to use the playback control keys on your keyboard in the PWAs you use with it. The result is a web application with a much more modern design than the web client that you can download, but with fewer options.

How to install Spotify Web as Chrome’s WPA

The process of installing the Spotify website as a PWA or progressive website is extremely simple. First you have to enter the web player at open.spotify.com and log in. Once you do, click on the option Install app that you will see in the left column. This button will always appear right above your profile name, so even though it now appears to be pretty much in the middle of the column, if you max it out it could go down to the left.

When you click on the button, a window will open in which Chrome asks you if you want to install the application. In this dialogue, click the Install button that appears in blue, and the web will be installed as if it were a conventional application.

When installed, the application will show a shortcut on the desktop that will open it as if it were a standalone app. Although really, like all PWAs, it is really an instance of your browser, in this case Chrome, but you can also do it with any other that has support for PWAs.

In fact, if you click on the button with the three dots (1) you will be able to see some options of your browser. Among these options, You will have to Uninstall Spotify in case you want to remove the PWA (2) at some point.

As you can see in this last screenshot, the difference between both interfaces is quite remarkable. On the left you can see how the PWA has a larger and more elegant lettering design. However, The PWA does not have some important options how to improve the sound quality if you are Premium or use local files.

Activate support for multimedia keys

In Chrome you can activate the support for the multimedia keys of your keyboard in case it has keys to control reproductions. To do this, open the browser and type the command chrome: // flags to enter the Chrome experiments screen, where you can activate options that are not yet available in the browser settings.

Once in flags, use the search engine in this section to search for the term hardware-media-key-handling (1), which will show you as the only result the option we are looking for. On the right, click on the box where it says Default and select the Enabled option to activate it (two). This will make Chrome recognize the control keys on your keyboard when you are in a multimedia session.

Then, use the search engine in this section to search for the term enable-media-session-service (1), which will show you two results. In them, go to the Media Session Service option and set it as Enabled (two). When you make the changes, you will have to restart the browser and that’s it, Chrome will recognize the multimedia sessions thanks to the second option and will allow you to use the multimedia control keys on your keyboard thanks to the first.

[SOLVED] : How to set Spotify as your iPhone wake-up call

The iPhone offers alarm tones that are very irritating to the ears. Listening to those shrill sounds at sunrise is far from the best way to start the day on the right foot. Fortunately, with a few clicks, it is quite possible to replace these horrible ringtones with your favorite song on Spotify.

Wake up to music with the Spotify app

Waking up early in the morning is probably one of the most painful things we have to do on a daily basis. Despite all the good intentions in the world, it is very difficult to get out of bed. This is why for several years, researchers have been working to find the ultimate solution to wake up in a good mood, unfortunately without success.

Most people have long since abandoned their alarm clock in favor of the smartphone. The arrival of the smart phone has made this good old device totally obsolete. But this change did not significantly improve the way we wake up.

The shrill ringing emitted by the iPhone is far from offering a gentle awakening. Most of the sounds offered in the Clock app make annoying beeps. If you are tired of being woken up by one of these abominable alarms, know that it is now possible to launch your favorite Spotify playlist at the time of your choice.

Connect your iPhone’s alarm clock to the Spotify app

It’s not easy to take off your quilt. Of all the devices invented to help us get up (radio, dawn simulator, sound alerts) music remains the most pleasant solution. Starting your day off with Ella Fitzgerald or Cold Play instead of those preset alarm bells is a great way to calm your mind.

Apple issue prevents users from setting Spotify playlist or song as alarm clock. As a result, most iPhone owners are content to personalize their alarm with one of the music tracks stored in their phone’s internal memory. The bravest will be able to create their iPhone ringtone for free from a simple music file.

This technical constraint considerably limits the choice of songs. Fortunately there are alternatives like Spotify Alarm Clock. This alarm clock application available for free on the App Store will allow you to set the Spotify music streaming service as an alarm.

  • Click on the App Store icon on your iPhone desktop
  • Enter the term Spotify Alarm Clock in the field or click on the link opposite to download the application to your phone
  • During the first launch you will be asked to connect your Spotify account to the app
  • Then click on the + icon at the top left of the window to define a new alarm
  • Set the time you want to be woken up
  • You can also configure the days when you want this alarm to be active
  • Press the Music button to choose the song or playlist that will serve as your alarm ringtone
  • Remember to press the toggle switch to activate the ringer. If the button is not green, your smartphone will not ring
  • Press the Activate Alarm button to record your alarm and choose the ringer volume level.

Now all you have to do is browse through your playlists to find the perfect song. According to scientists, the ideal song to wake up to should have positive lyrics and have a rhythm that slowly increases in tempo as the song progresses.

Avoid wake-up call failure with Spotify Alarm Clock

Please note the Spotify Alarm Clock application should never be closed. And this is the big problem. If you lock your smartphone or close the app, your alarm clock will not ring. This alarm system does not work at all like the clock application offered by default on the iPhone.

To overcome this constraint, the developer has developed a function called Screen saver. As the name suggests, it will turn the screen black to reduce the power consumption of the iPhone.

Personally, I invite you to connect your phone to the mains charger. Even with the screen saver activated, the iPhone discharges very quickly and will hardly hold up all night. This will prevent you from having unpleasant surprises when you wake up.

As a safety measure, it is best to test the Spotify Alarm Clock app on weekends. It is certainly not very pleasant to be woken up on Sunday morning by an alarm clock, but at least you do not risk being in r **** d at work or missing your train. For people who do not want this application here is the procedure to install a ringtone on an iPhone without using iTunes.

Why is music good for your health?

Studies have shown that music can lower nervous tension and relieve pain. It does not cure as such but makes people in a better mood by stimulating the release of dopamine. Music also reflects positive emotions.

But be careful to choose your songs or playlist. Not all styles and genres of music are beneficial. Some songs can reinforce negative emotions like melancholy, sadness or anger.

How to use Spotify in alarm clock on your iPhone

The new free Spotify Alarm Clock app lets you wake up to Spotify on iPad and iPhone. It works, but it remains imperfect for the moment.

Are you tired of waking up to the first notes of “Apogée”, “Bord de mer” or “Owl”, named after the delicious iOS ringtones available on your iPhone? If you use Spotify, you may finally be able to wake up to one of your personalized playlists.

A new free app called Spotify Alarm Clock lets you create an alarm clock that connects directly to the music streaming platform. We tested it: it’s not perfect, but it works, if you’re willing to make a few sacrifices.

It’s a well-known sea serpent in tech circles: Apple doesn’t allow its alarm clock app to connect to third-party music platforms like Spotify. You can only select pre-existing ringtones in your iPhone, buy them from the Tone Store, or add music from Apple Music if you have downloaded them to your personal library.

That’s why Spotify Alarm Clock is an application completely separate from Apple. Developed by American computer science student Will Said and released in early 2019, it is presented as an alarm clock app, but which connects directly to your Spotify application. For it to work, you must therefore agree to give it access to your Spotify account.

HERE’S HOW TO SET UP A SPOTIFY ALARM CLOCK ON YOUR IPHONE

Step 1 : Download the Spotify Alarm Clock app on your iPhone

2nd step : Accept to connect your account to Spotify

Step 3 : Click on the (+) at the top right to add an alarm

Step 4 : Choose the hour, the days, the degree of “snooze”

Step 5 : Click on “Music”. The app then opens Spotify. Choose either an entire playlist (“shuffle”) or a specific song (“keep going”).

Step 6 : Press the button to the right of the time you want to wake up to so that it turns green and the alarm is activated

Step 7 : Click on “Activate Alarms”. You can then choose the volume.

Step 8 : Click on “Screen Saver”. Your Spotify alarm clock is now activated.

When it turns on, you’re supposed to have the option to “snooze” it (ZZZ) between 1 and 30 minutes depending on what you chose – but we had some difficulty getting this button to work.

THE LIMITS OF THE APP

The developer is aware that his application still has limitations: “The API is still in its infancy and it is not recommended to be trusted. If you have any issues connecting to Spotify in the app, you can resolve them normally by playing a song on Spotify first and then returning to the app. “

Indeed there are two big limits to the application. First, you do not have access to all your music, but only to certain songs. We have tested and can use about 20% of our library as an alarm clock.

Two, and this is probably the biggest flaw of Spotify Alarm Clock: you have to stay in the application for the alarm to go off. If you close the app or lock your iPhone, it won’t trigger. To overcome this problem, Will Said has added a “screen saver” button which, apparently, puts your smartphone screen to sleep. It turns all black, and you can fall asleep. We therefore recommend that you only use this practice when your phone is charging overnight – at the risk of seeing your battery drain quickly.

How to choose a song as an alarm clock?

Whatever phone you have, you can use it as an alarm clock by setting the time and choosing a ringtone from the default list. But it is possible to replace the predefined music with other audio files, such as that of your favorite song.

With an iPhone, go to the Clock application and then tap Alarm at the bottom of the screen. Then choose “Modify” at the top to change the settings of an existing alarm, or on the + sign to create a new one. In the settings window, select “Ringtone”, then scroll up to press “Choose a song”. You then have access to all the music stored on the iPhone: all you have to do is find the title that will serve as the ringtone, by artist or by song. Once this title has been validated, press Return then press Save (at the top) in the settings window. This is the song that will be played when you wake up.
