Xbox Game Pass: Has 60% market share in gaming subscription services according to analysis

With Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has a 60% market share in gaming subscription services.

According to an analysis of subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, the impact on the gaming industry is rather small compared to the music and film industries.

According to Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis, such gaming subscription services account for just 4% of revenue in North America and Europe.

That would be just 3.7 billion of the 81 billion generated from games (discs, downloads, add-ons) in these regions.

If you look at the music industry, it’s just a drop in the ocean. Streaming services like Spotify accounted for 83% of revenue there last year.

According to the analysis, Microsoft will continue to have a 60% market share with its 25 million Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

This email announces you 90 days of free subscription to Netflix: don’t bite, it’s a scam

A new cyber-scam is now targeting Netflix users: the INCIBE (National Institute of Cybersecurity) has given notice of the massive sending of malicious e-mails announcing to users that their Netflix subscription has expired. Cybercriminals are, however, ‘generous’ and offer a free 90-day extension… however, behind this offer is an attempt to steal information.

And it is that, if we accept, we will be asked to enter our personal data (including credit card data) before granting said extension, in what constitutes the typical phishing attack, which not seen a thousand times seems to lose effectiveness.

What is the phishing attack?

Fraudulent emails, with subjects such as , alert the user about the expiration of their subscription to the streaming platform.

As a supposed loyalty strategy, they promise a free extension of 90 days if the user links a credit card to validate the account. They ensure that no charges will be applied to the card provided.

By clicking on the link included in the email, users are redirected to a fake website pretending to be the official Netflix platform (see main image). On this page, the company logos and the same subscription expired message are displayed, along with a button to extend the subscription for free.

However, as we said before, the hidden objective is to convince the user to provide their personal and credit card information in a form.

The mistake, however, we have made at the same moment that we have opened the e-mail and we haven’t checked the sender address. If it had, we would have verified that it does not correspond to an official Netflix address.

And that is precisely one of the first details that we always have to check in these cases.

What to do if you have received this type of mail?

If you have received a similar email and have not provided information, it is essential Mark it as spam and remove it from your inbox.

On the other hand, if you have fallen into the trap and have given your personal and bank details in the form, you should not delete anything: on the contrary, You should immediately contact your bank to notify them of the situation and take the necessary measures. This could involve canceling the credit card involved to prevent potential unauthorized charges.

Next:

  1. Regularly review the movements of your bank account to detect possible unauthorized charges.
  2. Collect evidence of fraud, saving emails and screenshots of the process. These tests can be useful if you need to file a complaint.
  3. Get in touch with the State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE) and report the facts, providing the evidence collected.
  4. Do regular “egosurfing” to check if your personal or banking details have been exposed online. If so, follow the process provided by the Spanish Agency for Data Protection (AEPD) to request its deletion through suppression to oblivion.

Prime Video and Atresmedia come together to create the definitive subscription: Atresplayer Premium Familiar comes to Amazon

Amazon’s alliances to fill its video streaming platform with channels are continuing, now with the incorporation of Atresplayer as a channel on Prime Video: starting today Atresplayer Premium Family will be available as a subscription to the Amazon service. The price is maintained.

The pack that gives access to Amazon’s free deliveries grew in services year after year to include everything from free music to a huge number of movies, series and documentaries under the Prime Video umbrella. In Spain we are still far from what Amazon includes with Prime in the United Statesboth in content and in price (there it is worth more than double, $139 per year), but little by little we are catching up on channels, even with our own options: Atresplayer is coming to the Amazon platform.

Atresplayer Premium Familiar arrives as a channel on Amazon Prime

Amazon and Atresmedia have sealed an agreement under the subscription service of the Spanish company Goes as an optional channel to Prime Video. This implies that anyone who has Amazon Prime, and wants to access Atresplayer content, does not have to subscribe to said platform: they can do it directly through Amazon.

Prime Video will offer access to all the content that Atresplayer Premium Familiar already includes independently. Poison, Cardo, The nights of Tefía, The protected… and upcoming releases; such as FoQ: The Next Generation, A New Dawn, Dressed in Blue and The Purple Net, all can be seen on the new Prime Video channel.

To qualify for the Atresmedia subscription, it is first essential to be a subscriber to Amazon Prime. The cost of the Spanish platform is 7.99 euros per month, exactly the same that Atresmedia offers through its own media. And only the Premium Family option will be available, not the more accessible Atresmedia Premium subscription: this, whose cost is 4.99 euros per month, is left out of Prime Video. Also the option to subscribe for a year (it is exclusive to the Atresplayer app and website).

Atresmedia Player Familiar joins a long list of channels that are already present on Prime Video; such as MGM+, Flixolé, DAZN, La Liga Smartbank, Acontra+ or AMC+. The advantage of having these subscriptions as channels is that no separate app needed: Both downloads and streaming are done through the Prime Video app.
