For the European championships which are taking place in Poland and Ukraine, the Raiexclusive assignee of the broadcasting rights, had, already in the days preceding the start of the tournament, launched an advertising campaign which underlined, among other things, the possibility of following the event on any platform, going beyond the classic modes of use. But upon the release of the dedicated application and the kick-off of the first match, Android users found themselves faced with an unwelcome surprise.
The Rai Sport application dedicated to Euro 2012 it is certainly interesting and rich in content: there is news, videos with comments from the company’s sports journalists, analyses, the possibility of watching entire matches again. Important functions but, upon closer inspection, not transcendentalgiven that these contents can also be found from different sources.
The feature that certainly interested all users the most was the ability to follow the various championship matches live in streamingthis one is truly exclusive: well, at the moment of truth, that is, at the starting whistle of Poland-Greece, the match that opened the 2012 European Championships, on Friday 8 June at 6 pm, the bitter surprise: on Android devices it is not possible to follow the matches live, while on iOS devices the streaming is excellent and the image quality is excellent.
The reaction of Android users is ready who lashed out with ferocious comments towards the application, causing its total rating to plummet. There are those who demonstrate your own amazement for unequal treatment, who wonders if in Rai they are all “Apple-fanboys”who speaks of “scam”, “clown”, “mockery”. And it is actually difficult not to understand such states of mind.
It therefore seems that Rai has really made a mistake by implementing it a real “discrimination” against a large portion of users. We therefore hope that the app will receive an update as soon as possible which also allows Android devices to take advantage of this useful feature.
