or why I don’t like to play Mortal Kombat 11 with a DualSense


Services and exclusive releases are factors that end up defining the success of a console, but also what makes them different: Game Pass is the workhorse of Xbox Series X (and the Xbox brand in general) and DualSense, the new PS5 controller, the Sony one. Which begs the question naturally: to what extent has Microsoft wanted to innovate with a view to its control system?

At first glance the new Xbox Wireless Controller It looks very similar to the classic Xbox One model with a new center button. They are almost identical. And that has a positive aspect: by default, the Microsoft controller is one of the most versatile and widespread options when it comes to playing beyond consoles.

Because, like the Xbox brand itself, Microsoft’s great goal is for its controller to remain the standard for desktop gaming or through other devices wirelessly. And we are not going to fool ourselves, with those of Xbox 360 and Xbox One he did it wonderfully: they are the most used on Steam and, possibly on PC.

Don’t be misunderstood: the technology that the DualSense uses offers a very different and more ambitious degree of immersion in the game thanks to its haptic vibration system, its adaptive triggers or its gyroscopic sensors. It even has your own integrated microphone array. And despite everything, and this is a personal opinion, I continue to feel more comfortable with the alternative – batteries – from Microsoft.

Go ahead, in the end it all comes down to three simple premises: what kind of video games we enjoy, how we approach our predisposition (competitive, casual or neither) and how many hours do we usually spend playing. And although I have Mortal Kombat 11, GTA V, Dragon Quest XI and DOOM on both systems, I prefer the new Xbox crosshead and asymmetric analog sticks when destroying my opponents.

What is more accurate? Are the sticks (commonly called mushrooms) of the controller at the same height or the asymmetric model of the original Xbox? There, logically, the answer each one has to answer it. In my case I prefer to have the movement stick at the height of the main buttons, although I understand that the increasing use of the triggers makes it difficult to get used to the two systems. In fact, the debate is elsewhere.

The new Xbox wireless controller: conservative in novelties, successful in design

The command that accompanied the new generation of Microsoft consoles is not the same as the Xbox One, although they look very similar. In fact, early console adopters from 2013 (including myself) are quick to find the most subtle differences. I mean your input for jack headset, or the integration of a wireless connection system by Bluetooth.

Yes indeed, Microsoft continues to bet on batteries, leaving the door open to your own or third-party rechargeable batteries or forgoing their wireless nature and playing using a USB cable. Hit or miss? In my case, I use the rechargeable battery after using the batteries that came with the controller -as in Xbox 360-, but in its favor, and without pointing out anyone, the additional Xbox controls have been to share games, not by substitution.

While it looks like a Siamese brother when compared to the Xbox One controller, at least in design and with differences here and there, they feel different to the touch and weight. Its thicker triggers are a hit, and the texture of its grips is an added bonus. After all, it is the result of a series of innovations that have been implemented little by little over the last seven years.

The crosshead, on the other hand, is what convinces me the most. To play indies, retro games and, above all, fighting games. But also to move through the Cyberpunk 2077 menus with ease. Makes its own little noise, yes, but even putting the Switch Pro Controller on, it’s about the best crosshead of a serial control.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the type of games that I approach with greater assiduity and the predisposition that I have to these conditions my preference when choosing one controller or another. And although the haptic vibrations of the DualSense give a new level of sensation to the DIRT 5, games like FIFA 21 or Mortal Kombat 11 they fail to take advantage of their technology. The three remaining very much in the shadow of a modest in shape but convincing in results Astro’s PlayGround.

I confess that I would like to be more optimistic in this regard, of course, but the number of games that have taken advantage of the technology of the Joy Cons or the Steam Controller is what it is. And despite the genius of Nintendo Labo or Super Mario Party, Nintendo Switch Lite does not include HD vibration or gyroscopes, which gives us a clue as to the direction in which the Switch catalog is headed.

However, the real plus point that makes my main controller the Xbox one (a pity that the Nintendo Pro Controller does not have triggers, but flat buttons) is not its design, with which Microsoft is on the safe side, or its subtle novelties, but the way in which its use is implemented beyond consoles.

Wireless controller support: my ace up my sleeve

If I want to play on PC, and unless it is a strategy game or an FPS, the first thing I do is connect my xbox controller. Not only because I feel more comfortable with it in hand, but because almost all the games I have on Steam, Epic or GOG recognize Microsoft’s system the first time. Not to mention how easy it is to continue my games. from the Xbox Windows app.

Why have Xbox controllers become the standard for desktop gaming? Valve came to its own conclusions in September 2018:

A decade ago, Microsoft made a systematic effort to get Xinput, the protocol behind Xbox, adopted, and as a result there was massive support from game developers. Since support for Xinput is built into most games, the Xbox controller is a good bet for smooth playing a large number of different titles.

Microsoft’s plan to blur the differences between PC and Xbox gamers goes through Microsoft’s own store, of course, but it also keeps in mind that making the Xbox controller the standard is essential. Especially when opens the doors to alternatives, like cloud play or broadcasts.

Shortly before release Xbox series x I made the preparations and acquired for a very amortizable price the Moga mobile game stand. A simple clip that fits like a glove on the Xbox controllers and allows me to position my mobile in a stable way. While my gaming feelings with xCloud are not really positive, streaming from the console makes playing Cyberpunk 2077 or Mortal Kombat 11 from the screen of my mobile it looks like a thing of witchcraft. Or, rather, almost a portable console.

Is it possible to associate a DualSense with iOS and Android? Of course. And although there are mobile supports designed for the control of the PS5, without haptic vibration, with its four buttons in a cross-head arrangement and symmetrical sticks, I recognize that not exactly my first choice.

There are many more nuances to consider, and that Microsoft is conservative in design does not mean that it does not have a vision beyond the traditional player. Proof of this is the milestone of the Adaptive Controller and how it opens the doors of this passion that are video games to new player profiles.

Maybe, A year from now, when I meet Aloy again in Horizon: Forbidden West, I discover that drawing her bowstring through the PS5 controller adds new nuances to the whole. Perhaps, the return of Ratchet & Clank will make me change my mind about what I am writing to you today. But one thing is clear to me: as a preference, today I enjoy playing more Mortal Kombat 11 with an Xbox controller. Unfortunately for my rivals online and on the couch.

Not an April Fool’s joke: you’ll soon be able to officially play Doom on your lawnmower

What is shared with other players in Death Stranding multiplayer?

The basis of Death Stranding’s multiplayer is based on the structures you build and the merchandise you leave behind that will appear in other games.

This includes the automatic appearance of objects in the world, such as:

  • Exploration supports such as Ladders and Ropes, which are left behind so that other players can discover them.
  • Structures built by players, such as Post Boxes, Watch Towers, Generators and Roads, can appear and be enhanced by other players with features and customization that includes holograms and music.
  • Signals they can be placed to convey a variety of pre-selected messages, such as dangers, beautiful landscapes or words of encouragement.
  • Merchandise left behind (whether abandoned or on purpose) will appear in other worlds as soon as you have walked a considerable distance.

  • Cairns they will appear in places where other players rested and, if you rest there, you will recover faster and increase the size of Cairn.

Almost all of the structures listed above will be introduced to you naturally throughout the game, sometimes with dedicated Orders that you can complete that work as tutorials. Although most cost materials to build, signs can be erected free of charge at any time.

In addition to the above, you can interact directly with other players in certain circumstances:

  • Any structure or item placed by a player can receive Likes, and your buildings can also receive likes, increasing your Porter Grade level and giving you an opportunity to thank them.
  • You can download unfinished deliveries at UAC centers for other players to complete, giving you some Likes in the process.
  • There is an option to donate items in Post Boxes for other players to collect. You can also leave vehicles in Garages for others to use.
  • Supply Requests can be made via Cuff Links (after completing Episode 2, Order 9, also known as Wind Farm) if you need a specific consumable.

  • Co-operation Requests, available from Bridge Link grade 10, can be made to highlight a structure that you have built for other players as a candidate for upgrades, giving more Likes in return.

As you can see, there are some ways to interact with other players – although there are some caveats about when and how they appear.

How does Death Stranding multiplayer work?

Although Death Stranding rescues fallen structures and goods from other players almost always at random – unless you use the Strand Contracts feature described below – there is sometimes an emphasis on structures with many likes that players will find useful.

Additionally, it seems to place a limit on the type that appears at any time. While signs can fill certain areas too much (a welcome warning that there is a point of interest or challenging area to follow), other things like Postboxes and Bridges will be more irregular, in order to make exploration challenging in a balanced and that the world is less devastating.

Especially because having two Watchtowers next to each other would not make a lot of sense!

Although Death Stranding’s online connectivity is very similar to asymmetric games like Dark Souls, a key factor to note is that structures built by players do not appear in areas until they connect to the UCA network.

As a result, when exploring new areas, it is worth checking where network coverage ends; You will be notified of this when entering or leaving the limits via a message on the screen, but it is also visible on the screen with a blue or red line.

In addition to the players’ structures disappearing, you can’t build yours either.

In our pre-launch experience, some structures end up filtering (giving you some help when exploration starts to get tough) but most of them appear when you make your return journey through a newly connected area, almost functioning as a reward for a job well done.

Death Stranding Bridge Links and Strand Contracts explained

Despite the appearance of structures built by other players or objects that are largely out of your hands, there is a way to find out who appeared in your game through the Strand Contract feature.

After Order 9 (Deliver the Wind Farm energy unit) in Episode 2, along with the ability to order Supply Requests from other players, you can also add the Bridge Links option to the Link Cuffs menu.

Visiting Bridge Links will present you with a list of players you’ve interacted with recently. This will also allow you to see your Porter Grades progress (in other words, the level) in a leaderboard style format, and see who has been putting the most time and effort into your delivery career.

It is also here that you establish Strand Contracts, which allow you to highlight a player so that their structures and lost load appear more frequently in your game. Since it is a unidirectional interaction, you do not have to have your permission to establish a Strand Contract, working automatically.

To do this, you will first have to raise your Bridge Link level – which increases with the interaction and likes of the players to your structures, and vice versa – to Level 10.

Then, you can press the Triangle button to add someone to the ‘Strand Contract Made’ list, which you can check by going through the tabs by pressing R1.

If you want to make more Strand Contracts, then continue to increase your Bridge Link level. For every 10 levels, you can create 5 more Contracts.

What happens when you play Death Stranding offline?

Playing Death Stranding offline means that all of the features listed above will not appear in the game. For example, you will not find stairs and ropes left by other players or important structures like Post Boxes and Generator, which means that you will have to find them yourself.

Lost cargo, however, will continue to appear, but it will be attributed to automatically generated porters and the owners of the various shelters you encounter during your travels instead of real players with usernames.

This also means that your Porter Grade level will not rise as quickly, as you cannot Like – or receive Likes – from other players. That said, if you played online previously and created a structure, you will continue to get likes for that contribution – you will be given data the next time you reconnect.

On a similar note, any structures you build offline will be added the next time you play online for other players to see.

If you can’t play online, even though the Death Stranding experience is much poorer without the influence of other players and the surprise of the structures they build, this does not mean that it is necessarily more difficult.

Yes, a structure can help you if you are in trouble, but our experience playing a handful of hours offline was not necessarily more difficult – this means that you will have to waste some time to build a Generator to load a Vehicle or Watchtower to detect Mules instead of running into one randomly.

And, as mentioned above, new areas will not have buildings at all until you complete your objective and add them to the UCA network, filling it with creations from other players.

But if you can play online, we advise you to do so – the additions above can be useful and, even if you use them in a rare way, a simple sign or bridge can make the task of delivering goods much less lonely.

What is the Remote Play of PS4 and PS5

Remote Play allows you to play your PS5 or your PS4 through other devices, such as a television or a smartphone.

Importantly, not all games support Remote Play and that the PS5 must be either on or in sleep mode for Remote Play to work. It will not work if the console is off.

    How to wake up Remote Play with PS5 sleep mode

    Although you can’t use Remote Play when the PS5 is offline, it can be used when the console is in sleep mode.

    If you want to activate this option, follow these steps on your PS5:

  • Go to ‘Settings’
  • Select ‘System’
  • Select ‘Energy Saving’
  • Select ‘Functions available in standby mode’ and activate it
  • Select ‘Allow PS5 to be turned on from the internet’ and turn it on

    • This will allow you to use Remote Play on your PS5 from sleep mode, but remember, you can’t use Remote Play if your PS5 is completely off.

    PS5 Remote Play on PS4

    Days before the launch of the PS5, PS4 users woke up to a new app installed on their consoles: PS5 Remote Play.

    As the name suggests, this app allows you to play your PS5 on any PS4 console as long as the PS5 is correctly activated with Remote Play. You can use your DualShock 4 controller instead of the PS5 DualSense controller.

    The PS5 also lets you create new accounts, guest accounts and switch between different user accounts anytime. That means you can easily allow your family or friends to use the console without having to worry about your game saves.

    How to add new accounts on PS5

    If you want to create a new account on your PS5, you have to select the option ‘Add User’. It is easy to access it in different ways:

    • From the user selection screen that appears when you turn on the console
    • The ‘Change User’ option from the home screen
    • From the Control Center, pressing the PS button

    • The ‘Users and Accounts’ submenu in the console settings

    Regardless of the method, the same screen will always appear with three options:

    • Get started – create a permanent account on your PS5
    • Login and Play – temporarily log into your PlayStation Network account on this console
    • Quick Play – anonymous temporary account

    To create a permanent user on PS5, you have to select the ‘Get Started’ option.

    You will have the option of logging into a PlayStation Network account, creating a new one, using the Playstation mobile app to log into your account by scanning a QR code, or creating an offline account.

    If you want to use a previous PlayStation Network account, you will have to log in with that account on PS5 and manage various functions, including Data Collection.

    If you want to create a new account, you can create a new user.

    If you choose to create an offline account, you can choose an icon and name so that you can start enjoying your PS5 right away.

    These instructions will also allow you to create an account for a minor: once you create the account, visit ‘Family and Parental Controls’ in the PS5 settings menu to manage parental controls.

    How to switch user on PS5

    There are two main ways to switch users when playing on PS5.

    The first is to visit the home screen and go up to the user account option in the upper right corner of the screen. You will know when you have arrived because your username will appear below.

    Interacting with this menu will open a submenu with various options, including ‘Change user.’


    Select ‘Change user’ to open a new menu with all users who have an account on this PS5.

    You can select with which user you want to be able to play and get access to files such as saved games on the console. You may have to enter your password if you have set one.

    The second way to change users is to access the Control Center by pressing the PS button and selecting the user account option.

    How to add guests and Quick Play on PS5

    There are two ways to add a guest account on your PS5: allow someone to temporarily access their PlayStation Network account on your console, or use Quick Play, which will create a temporary user on your PS5.

    These options will automatically delete any data that is created during your time on your console, so don’t worry because you won’t waste space on your console.

    Both can be found in the ‘Add User’ menu, which you can access in several ways:

    • From the user selection screen that appears when you turn on the console

    • The ‘Change User’ option from the home screen
    • From the Control Center, pressing the PS button
    • The ‘Users and Accounts’ submenu in the console settings

    In either case, after selecting ‘Add User’ you can choose between ‘Login and Play’ or ‘Quick Play.’

    Choosing ‘Login and Play’ will allow you to access your PlayStation Network account and, from that moment on, use the console as if it were your own, although the data will not be saved locally.

    Selecting ‘Quick Play’ will create a guest account on your PS5 that will have access to all the games and functionality of the console. If you have the PS5 version with a reader, you can play any game that you have a disc version of.

    This guest account will automatically disappear when you choose a new user or turn off the PS5.

    How to remove PS5 users

    To remove a user from your PS5, first go to the console settings, which you can easily find in the upper right corner of the home screen.

    Go down to ‘Users and Accounts’ and choose the option ‘Users’.

    A list of all the accounts that are linked to your PS5 will appear.

    Choose the account you want to delete and a small paper icon will appear.

    The PS5 will ask if you want to remove that user from the PS5.

    If you confirm it, this user will be deleted along with the saved games they have on the console.

    Google Stadia comes to iOS through Safari: we can now play CyberPunk 2077 on our iPhone, iPad or Mac


    Following the official announcement by Google, its cloud gaming service has landed on Apple platforms. It does not do it as an application, but as a webapp that we can access through a browser. Thus, to enjoy games like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Destiny 2 we just have to open Safari.

     

    A great catalog already available in our pocket

    According to Google’s announcement, if we have iOS / iPadOS 14.3 we can go to stadia.google.com and start playing. On the website we will find a PWA (Progressive Web Application) that mimics the experience of a native app directly in the browser. Mention that in versions prior to iOS 14.3 the stability of the platform is not as desired, so it is recommended to update to the latest version.

    Create F1 23 league and play with friends

    The new F1 23 was released a few days ago and the new F1 offshoot from Codemasters is of course enjoying great popularity again.     Create league in F1 23

    F1 23 Activate split screen: Play with two people

    How can two players play the new F1 23 in split screen? Where can you find the split screen mode and how do you invite a second player?     How to download apps from Google Play that are not available in your country with Aurora Store

    Google Play has millions of apps, although not all of them appear on your list. Developers can choose to have apps only appear for certain available or in certain regions. If you are elsewhere it does not appear in the search and if you enter from the direct link it tells you that this item is not available in your country.

    If you try to download an app or game from Google Play and this message appears, you can do several things: download and install the APK, change accounts (if you are temporarily in that country), or use the Aurora Store to get the best of both worlds: Download apps from Google Play without geographic restrictions.

    1. Install Aurora Store

    For our example, we’ll try to download Google Fi, the official Google app for your data plans and calls in the US. Google only offers these services in the United States. the app does not appear in Google Play accounts other countries. If you enter from its link, it will tell you the error « This app is not compatible with any of your devices » on the Google Play website and « This item is not available in your country » in the Google Play application.

    To overcome this obstacle you will need installer Aurora Store, an alternative to Google Play that serves as an unofficial client. In other words, what you download from the Aurora Store comes from Google Play. You can download Aurora Store from its official website. Just make sure you download Aurora Store and not Aurora-Droid, which instead of using Google Play does it from F-Droid.

    2. Prepare the Google Play links

    Now comes the trick part: even if it doesn’t show up in the search engine, Aurora Store can download the app as long as you enter through the link of the same. The problem is, the most normal thing is that you have configured the Google Play app so that automatically open google play links.

    You can change this in the section Information about the Google Play app. Tap Open by default and tap Clear default values or, if you prefer, press Open links supported in this app and it turns into Always ask.

    Once done, when you click on a link to a Google Play app, the window will appear so that choose which application you want to open it with. The trick is to choose Aurora Store and not Google Play.

    3. Download and install

    One of the possibilities of the new PSVR2 is eye tracking. The headset follows your eyes and knows what you are focusing on. Project Wingman: Frontline 59 uses this to help you aim.

    Aiming in an airplane can be extremely difficult. You’re doing anything and everything at the same time. You have to find your enemies and keep them in your sight in a 3D environment, which is quite a challenge in itself. Meanwhile, you fly around in one of the fastest vehicles in the world, while your opponents do the same. Moreover, you have to avoid enemy fire with the somewhat complicated controls of a fighter jet. So if they can give us something, we won’t say no to it.

    The VR headset uses eye tracking for the lock-on system that you use to fire your heat-seeking missiles at your enemies.     Add new PS5 accounts

    If you want to create a new account on your PlayStation 5, select the option ‘Add User’. You can find this option in several ways:

    Switch PS5 users

    These options instantly delete any data created on your console during their playing time, so you don’t have to worry about impact on your storage capacity.

    You can find both options by selecting the ‘Add User’ option, which can be found in several ways:

    • Via the selection screen that appears when you activate the console

    • Via the ‘Switch User’ option on the basic screen
    • Via the Control Center that you activate via the PS button
    • The ‘Users and Accounts’ submenu in the console settings

    However you get there, after selecting ‘Add User’ you can choose from either ‘Sign In and Play’ or ‘Quick Play.’

    If you choose ‘Sign In and Play’, you can log in to your PlayStation Network account and use the console as if it were yours. All your data is also stored.

    If you select ‘Quick Play’, the console will automatically create a guest account that has access to all games and features downloaded to this console. If you have the physical version of the PS5, you can also play any physical disc.

    The guest account will automatically disappear when you select a new user or switch off the PS5.

    Remove PS5 users

    To delete a user from your PS5, you must first go to the console settings. You can find it by going to the top right corner of the basic screen.

    Helldivers 2 is an attractive game no matter what graphics setting you play on, but if you’re hoping for the best picture imaginable, you’ll want to choose quality mode. There is, however, a big drawback to this mode: 30 frames per second. You’ll be aiming for 30 frames per second at pure 4K resolution, so the overall picture quality will be stunning no matter what type of TV or monitor you’re playing on.

    On the other side of the coin, you will have Performance mode. This provides a 1080p experience at 60FPS – the game won’t look as sharp, but it runs at a smoother FPS, making the shooter feel more snappy and satisfying. After starting the game in Performance mode by default, I cannot recommend playing in Quality mode, even if you are looking for the most perfect display options available.

A new rumor has it that Battlefront II will soon be available on PlayStation 4 and 5 as part of the PlayStation Plus premium tier.

    As reported by Push Square, a now-hidden PlayStation Store listing suggests that the PSP version of Battlefront II will be adapted for PS4/5 to make it available to PS Plus Premium subscribers.

    The game has been listed as a classic title, so it certainly fits what we expect from the premium tier. The listing said the game was updated with “up-rendering, rewinding, quick saves, and custom video filters.” We will surely find out the truth in a few weeks. PlayStation typically announces the Extra and Premium tier lineup in the middle of the month.
