Unmasking users just because: this TikTok account shows how the Internet is blurring the boundaries of privacy


Privacy in public spaces is fading by leaps and boundsbut we didn’t expect it to be a TikTok account of a Taylor Swift fan (she always includes her music in the videos she posts) who was going to remind us of it in the worst possible way.

And, with its 90,000 followers, this profile has caused alarm by exploiting the deep-rooted belief that Anything we do with content available on the Internet is valid.

The ‘modus operandi’ of this particular account is very simple: He selects his victims from people who have appeared in other viral videos and/or according to the suggestions of their followers and, once their objective is selected, their own videos document the ‘research’ process, consisting of…

  • Capture images of the person.
  • Subject them to searches within facial recognition platforms available online for any user (like Pimeyes or FaceCheck.ID).
  • Use what is called ‘open source intelligence’ or OSINT to ‘dig’ through data linked to your identity.

  • Publicly reveal your private information (full name, social media profile and even your employer).

Does not violate any TikTok content policy

Despite the concern generated by this account, and the requests made for TikTok to remove it, the platform has decided not to take any action in this regard, claiming that It does not violate any of their policies, since it only uses publicly available information.

That is the reason why neither 404 Media (the media that has dedicated a report to this story) nor we have wanted to disclose the address of this account until it is deactivated by TikTok.

One of his victims claims that this shows how vulnerable a person can be “merely by existing in a public space.”

Let us remember that these actions are carried out without the consent of the people involvedwhich raises serious ethical and legal questions… and opens the possibility that the content of said videos, or the recognition technology used in them, will be used, in the words of Eli Lloyd, one of their victims,

“For something worse than a simple thirst for online attention, such as extreme cases of harassmentFor example”.

The case of ‘Matthew’, another of his victims, is paradigmatic:was identified by the aforementioned TikTok profile after having appeared interviewed in a video from another viral content generator, one in which Matthew did not provide his full name or any other personal information..

“I felt a little violated”says this victim, who saw how the publication of his identity generated a wave of unwanted attention on the social networks of his company, whose website (which included a photo of him) was key to identifying him.

The worst thing is that the person responsible for the TikTok account shows no interest in ethically justifying his actions —of course, they have not revealed that their victims are behind any illicit activity or anything of that nature—, but rather, they feed on the mere curiosity of their followers.

In Matthew’s case, without going any further, everything was triggered because another TikTok user, one named Kenny, wrote “I need your @” (that is, your username) citing the original video in which the victim appeared. Kenny did not respond to 404 Media when asked why he wanted to unmask him.

GTA 6: 49 seconds of leaked gameplay shows the main characters, the graphics and a very striking feature for players

The Northman trailer shows brutal viking action


Universal has released the first official trailer for The Northman. The images treat us to hard action with vikings.

The new film directed by director Robert Eggers, known for films such as The Witch and The Lighthouse, shows how the blood-curdling life of a northerner can run. Unlike his two previous films, The Northman will not be categorized as a horror film. Nevertheless, the bloodshed story will hopefully give us reason enough to sit on the edge of our seats.

The Dutch release date for the film is scheduled for April 28, 2022. It will then only be shown in cinemas, unlike many other films that also immediately appeared on streaming services.

We’ll have to wait until April 28 to find out how the movie will fare. Still, this is definitely a movie to keep an eye on, especially for Vikings fans.

Cliff Bleszinski has released more concept art to show where Locust should have gone after Gears of War 3.

As we previously reported, Cliff Bleszinski shared his Gears of War 4 concept art on Twitter a few days ago.

He said that this concept indicates the general direction of where he thinks Locust’s journey should have gone after Gears of War 3.

Judging by his vision and the images, there would then be flyable Locusts and even underwater missions.

Apple Maps now shows speed limit

In the Netherlands and Belgium, you can now see the maximum speed in Apple Maps. This is indicated on both your iPhone and on your CarPlay screen if you use this.

The feature was introduced years ago in China and the US, and later became available in other countries. In recent years, the expansion of speed limits in Apple Maps has been part of Apple’s new proprietary map stock. Now that the updated Apple Maps is available to everyone in the Netherlands and Belgium, the speed limits in Apple Maps have also become visible.

Not because the function does not work on all roads, but mainly because the maximum speed shown may not always be correct. Although this has not yet happened in the Netherlands, it is a warning that you should never rely on it 100 percent.

Seamless character change – GTA 6 footage shows incredibly fast loading times

GTA VI was officially announced as being in development in February 2022. There was recently an indication that we can expect the game in March 2025 at the latest. Footage of an early build of the sequel has now surfaced online, confirming that GTA VI is set in Vice City. Furthermore, in addition to a male character, there is also a female main character for the first time.

An important point in the series has always been the loading times. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series was loaded.

From the looks of it, Rockstar Games wants players to not waste a lot of time in front of loading screens in GTA 6. The information comes from some new footage taken from Grand Theft Auto VI, showing an almost seamless transition between characters.

Luckily, it looks like GTA VI will avoid these lengthy loading times. Of course, we all know that the new consoles are capable of very fast loading times anyway, but a newly surfaced piece of leaked footage shows just how seamless that could be in GTA VI.

The footage shows the two protagonists of the game in a motel. We see the game immediately switch from Lucia to Jason before Jason goes out into the world. This happens almost without any real delay and is therefore a huge change from GTA V.

Since the material is still from an earlier build, the information is doubly impressive. It remains to be seen what this will look like in the final game. However, you can be sure that Rockstar Games is doing everything it can to make endless loading times a thing of the past.

Star Trek: Infinite video shows first gameplay footage and system requirements announced


Last week, Paradox Interactive announced Star Trek: Infinite. However, no gameplay was shown at the time, but a new video of this strategy game now shows images of the game.

In Star Trek: Infinite, you can choose which faction to play as. There are four factions in total: the United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire, and Cardassian Union. During the adventure you will also encounter familiar characters from the TV series, which you can add to your team.
