Assassin’s Creed Mirage does not work on Xbox and the problem is not yours

Over the past few hours, many Xbox players have tried to play Assassin’s Creed Mirage without success. The reason why they are not yet jumping across the roofs of Baghdad is an error that occurs when starting the game once they have purchased their copy. In other words: they can’t play the video game they paid for.

He error 0x87e10bc6, according to Xbox Support, occurs when you “try to download and install or launch a game” without success, which could mean that it is “temporarily unavailable, not available in your region, or no longer in the game catalog.” This has alerted many players, who quickly took to Reddit to share their problem. The user u/KPsea has been one of those affected.

Microsoft was quick to issue a statement on social media to inform them that they are aware of the problem and that they are working on it: “We are aware that some users are experiencing problems when playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage and we are currently investigating. Stay tuned for updates here or check our status page.”

If you are one of those affected, Microsoft recommends keeping an eye on the Xbox Status website to see when the problem has been resolved. At the time of writing, the “games” section under “services” is experiencing a “major outage” specifically affecting Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Some crazy numbers, Microsoft wants Xbox Game Pass to reach an incredible 110 million subscribers by 2030

The future of Game Pass aims to be still most successful, and Microsoft’s plans are very ambitious. When Activision Blizzard merges with Xbox we will be able to see a small part of what said subscription service aspires to. However, today we do not have official numbers of what those in Redmond want for the coming years.

Journalist Derek Strickland of TweakTown has reviewed some of the Xbox documents leaked in the case against the FTC. He there he has discovered that Microsoft wants Game Pass to have in 2030 110 million subscribers. The figures you see below are estimates based on a leaked Xbox presentation from fiscal year 2022 (July 2021 to June 2022).

Graphic created by Derek Strickland of TweakTown.

Although these plans could have changedAs Phil Spencer stated, it is always good to know the aspirations of companies. To reach this goal, Microsoft hopes that the cloud is capable of providing about 32 million subscriberswhich they would play through mobile phones, smart televisions and less powerful computers.

Activision Blizzard purchase could boost Xbox Game Pass

It is evident that the purchase of Activision Blizzard can boost Xbox Game Pass. Mainly, the company’s video games will arrive at the Microsoft service during the coming months, to this we must add the growth that is expected both in PC as in the mobile division. In this latter market, King, creators of Candy Crush, will help a lot and provide a massive revenue avenue.

Xbox Direct: Game announcement aims to set the internet on fire

Image: Microsoft

Rumor has it that a game is coming to Xbox that will set the internet on fire and cause a lot of drama.

Xbox players are looking forward to January 18th with excitement, as the first Developer Direct livestream of the year will take place this Thursday.

The program includes news and introductions to the games Indiana Jones, Avowed, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Ara: History Untold.

According to rumors, there could also be a shadow drop, i.e. the simultaneous announcement and release of a game during or close to the live stream.

In further rumors, Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker speaks in the current XboxEra podcast about a specific game that will be released for Xbox. This game is set to “set the internet on fire” and “cause plenty of drama” when it is revealed. But the information from his source is too hot for him to reveal anything in advance.

He did not say when this secret game would be revealed. So it’s just as possible at Developer Direct as it is sometime later this year.

What game could set the internet on fire so much if it was announced for Xbox?

Install F1 23 mods on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series

Are there already mods for F1 23? How can you install a mod in F1 23 and is it also possible on the console? A few days ago, the new F1 offshoot from Codemasters and Electronic Arts was released for PC and console. As every year, the new F1 23 is also very popular. Anyone who has already played some of the game’s predecessors may have downloaded and installed a mod from websites such as racedepartment.com. In addition to cheats, popular mods also include paintwork and skins, mods with which you can improve the AI, realistic graphics mods or the telemetry tool with which you can display lots of information about the car. The question arises, can the mods also be installed in F1 23?

Install mods in F1 23

The F1 22 mods are at least currently not directly compatible with F1 23. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t already some modders who are adapting their mods to the new part. The first modifications for the game can already be found on the well-known mod websites such as the aforementioned racedepartment.com, but also on nexusmods.com. As in the previous versions, the installation is very easy in most cases, by simply downloading the mod and moving the contents of the .zip or .rar archive to the F1 23 installation directory.

  1. Mod as an archive of sites like racedepartment.com or nexusmods.com download and unzip the contents.
  2. Now move the content to the installation directory of F1 23 (close the game first). The installation directory can be displayed in Steam or Origin under Properties. From the Steam version, the path looks something like this: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\F1 23
  3. Then start the game again and the mod should be installed.

Some more complex mods sometimes require additional steps. For this reason it is always advisable to read the enclosed readme file, where the additional installation steps are often described.

Mods on the PS5 or Xbox Series?

Unfortunately, F1 23 does not yet offer official mod support. For this reason, you can’t install any modifications in the console version at the moment.

Tip: Here’s how to play F1 23 with friends in split-screen mode.

Apex Legends now available for free for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Apex Legends is coming to Steam soon

It’s funny to see that since Epic Games has its own store, more and more parties are embracing Steam again. After Microsoft and Ubisoft, it is now EA that will fill Gabe Newell’s wallet (yes, Gabe likes a pork chop). Apex Legends will be available from November 4 via Steam, where you can also switch between Origin and Steam. All progress will be shareable between both accounts. You will also receive the in-game goodies below when you start the game via Steam. The seventh season of the game also starts on November 4.

There was also less good news, because the Switch version of the game has been postponed. This should be released this year, but this will be in 2021. We are working hard on the port, but due to the strange events of this year, more time is needed. It has been confirmed that the Switch will also have crossplay, so you can play with friends from other consoles when the game becomes available.

You know that again!

Apex Legends is gearing up for a new seasonal event

Gamers who have played Apex Legends for some time will probably remember the ‘Fight or Fright’ seasonal event. This Halloween-themed event will return again this year and, to be precise, already next week.

The in-game event will take place from October 4 and will last until November 1. It includes four weeks of rotating limited-time modes and Halloween skins. The complete schedule is as follows:

Shadow Royale (October 4 – 11) – It wouldn’t be a Fight or Fright Event without the return of Shadow Royale. For the first time in history, players hunt opponents in the glow of Olympus After Dark.
Gun Run (October 11 – 18) – During the second week, players can’t miss the return of Gun Run. Olympus After Dark will be in rotation along with the previous two maps, including Fragment East (World’s Edge) and Skull Town (Kings Canyon).
Control (October 18 – 25) – On October 18, players will once again get “Control” in Olympus After Dark, World’s Edge, and Storm Point.
Shadow Royale (November 25 – November 1) – Players will return to Shadow Royale in the final week of the event to show off what they have learned.
Below you will also find information about the Fight or Fright Sale:
New and returning skins – For four weeks, players will be able to unlock a variety of new and returning Halloween-themed skins through the “Store” tab. The new Legendary skins include ‘Inner Demon’ for Ash and ‘Bladed Wanderer’ for Seer. Players will also be able to purchase new bundles, including the Voidwalker Bundle for Wraith (October 4-11) and Memoir Noir Bundle for Pathfinder (October 11-18). In addition, there will be special discounts on Apex Packs and previously released bundles during the event.

To visually show you what the ‘Fight or Fright’ seasonal event entails, a video has been made available. You can check it below.

Apex Legends may be getting a spin-off

Our friends at SamaGame had a great chat with the director of Apex Legends: Chad Grenier. Here he said that Respawn already has content ready up to and including season 12 (something we already knew), but that they are also thinking a lot about what else they want with the franchise:

“Right now we’re a battle royale game. I think if you look into the future, we have a lot of conversations of, you know, should we expand beyond battle royale? We have this roster of legends that people love – how else can we use them? I think looking into the future, you’re probably going to see the game becoming more than just a battle royale game. You see we have all these LTMs and other ways to play. I think that’s a great starting point.”

Of course, no one knows exactly what this means, but it wouldn’t be crazy to think that other PvP modes or even a PvE mode are in the pipeline. In fact, the studio behind Titanfall 2 has experience with narrative games, so a single-player experience wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

The seventh season of Apex Legends starts tomorrow!

Apex Legends may get fewer new characters in the future

Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter, has already arrived at season thirteen. As usual, another Legend will be introduced this season and it’s now Newcastle’s turn, who has already shown some of his tricks recently. The game launched in 2019 with twelve playable characters and with the arrival of Newscastle, we are now at twenty-one.

In an interview with Dextero, Senior Character Designer Devan McGuire says Apex Legends may get fewer new characters in the future. It is becoming increasingly difficult to come up with ‘unique characters’ that are not ‘too powerful or too niche’. According to McGuire, there will eventually be a “breaking point” where adding a new character is no longer possible without upsetting the balance of the game.

Apex Legends Mobile is getting soft launch in select countries

Respawn Entertainment is working with a Chinese partner on the mobile version of Apex Legends. The mobile game is now gearing up for release in select countries.

In the announcement of the Respawn writes that the game will only be available for Android users in a selected number of countries soon. These are players in Argentina, Singapore, Australia, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. It is not yet known when the game will be made available worldwide and for iOS players.

Mobile developers usually launch their products with a to test the app usage and spending habits of players. Australia and New Zealand in particular are popular test markets. Since the game is already completely ready, we can expect a global launch later in 2022.

Apex Legends Mobile was officially unveiled by Electronic Arts in 2019, since then very little news has come out about the mobile game. The developer did confirm that the game has no crossplay and Apex Mobile is separate from the console and PC version.

Apex Legends Mobile is getting paid cosmetics

The mobile game will be free-to-play with paid players, just like the console and PC versions. Earlier, Respawn Entertainment reiterated its commitment to avoid monetization via. It was also mentioned that this rule also applies to Apex Legends Mobile. The mobile version does have a separate Battle Pass, which includes collectibles and unlockable items not available on other platforms.

Apex Legends Mobile soft launch delayed by one week

The release of Apex Legends Mobile was originally scheduled for this week, but Respawn Entertainment has decided to postpone the mobile version of the wildly popular battle royale game by a week.

The reason for the delay is according to Respawns declaration because of the “current events in the world”, which no doubt refers to the current war situation. The developer did not go into further detail about the reason for the delay.

So Apex Legends Mobile is now available in Argentina, Australia, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, the Philippines and Singapore from March 7, 2022. Other parts of the world will unfortunately have to wait for the global release, which has not yet been set a date.

Apex Legends Mobile will be available worldwide on May 17

You will not have missed the success of Apex Legends and a mobile version has been in the works for some time now. Earlier this month it was reported that Apex Legends Mobile would be released in May and the release date has finally been announced. You can win your first victory with one of your favorite Legends on May 17th.

Apex Legends Mobile will therefore be launched next Tuesday with 10 available Legends. Unfortunately, only the characters from the original Battle Royale experience, but favorites such as Wraith, Octane, Bloodhound and Pathfinder are present in any case. The game has also been completely recreated with the mobile experience in mind to give players the best experience possible.

Furthermore, players of the mobile version can get started with the classic editions of King’s Canyon and World’s Edge. Exclusive and unique content such as modes and Battle Passes will also be included. Players who pre-register will receive some unique in-game extras. Finally, you can watch the launch trailer for Season 1 of Apex Legends Mobile below.

Apex Legends Mobile will be released worldwide this month

Respawn Entertainment has been working on a mobile version of Apex Legends for a while now and the game is already available in some countries. The developer is currently preparing for a worldwide release, which will take place this month on both Android and iOS, Respawn Entertainment has announced.

However, a specific release date has not yet been mentioned, but given that we are now in May, it will not be long before we hear more about that. This news comes from Jordan Patz, mobile design director, who recently managed to share this during a panel.

“I’m excited to announce, finally, that Apex Legends Mobile will be coming to all players worldwide in May,”

It’s an exciting time for our team right now. We’re wrapping up soft launch and we’ve learned a lot about the game in a short period.”

Last Saturday, numerous rumors appeared on the internet about Apex Legends, a free battle royale game set in the Titanfall universe that would be released on February 4. This has now proven to be true, because Apex Legends is now playable.

Apex Legends takes the concept of battle royale as we know it from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite, but developer Respawn Entertainment adds its own twist. You choose from one of eight playable heroes, also known as the eponymous Legends. Each one has its own skills and playing style.

The Legends you can choose from are Bangalore, Bloodhound, Caustic, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Mirage, Pathfinder and Wraith. As mentioned, they all have their own specializations. For example, Bloodhound can see recent enemy team activity on the map, and Lifeline can protect team members and .

These Legends compete in teams of three and the last one standing wins the round. It is important to coordinate the Legends in your team so that you can kill others as efficiently as possible.

Another change compared to games like PUBG and Fortnite is that you choose in advance where you will land as a team. This way you have full control over where you drop and you can immediately plan your strategy: do you confront others to get the best score or do you prefer to be a bit more tactical and let other teams kill each other first?

Apex Legends also contains Respawn Beacons, where you can revive team members once. In addition, in the free-to-play title you can indicate where enemies, weapons and other interesting things can be found at the touch of a button. Finally, Apex Legends distinguishes itself by an intelligent inventory system: equipment you pick up is directly linked to the right weapons.

Since Apex Legends is an online game, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions require a subscription to Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus respectively. Furthermore, the game is free to play, but does contain cosmetic microtransactions. However, you can also earn these by playing the game.

As we are used to in the gaming industry these days, Apex Legends is also one that will have multiple seasons. The first of these starts next month and will have a Battle Pass that gives you access to items themed to the season in question.

Apex Legends has been released for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Apex Legends passes the 100 million unique player mark

Battle Royale is and remains an immensely popular game mode. Just look at the number of gamers who obsessively scour the island in Fortnite, or roam Verdansk night after night in Call of Duty: Warzone. And then of course you also have Apex Legends, the Battle Royale title from Respawn Entertainment, which recently achieved a remarkable milestone.

The developer proudly announces that Apex Legends has surpassed 100 million unique players. A truly impressive figure, especially if you take into account that the game has only been on the virtual store shelves for just over two years. To celebrate this achievement, Respawn has put together a video. Those interested can do that here to look at.

Apex Legends passes the 25 million player mark

There simply doesn’t seem to be an end to the legendary success of Apex Legends. While the game attracted more than 2.5 million players within one day and a mere 10 million players two days later, the game managed to reach the legendary milestone of more than 25 million players in just one week.

The founder of development studio Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella, announced the happy occasion on the Electronic Arts website and posted a tweet on his personal account:

Been waiting all day to tell you this madness… @PlayApex hit 25 million players this morning. Read more about it at the link below. Remember we have Season One starting in March and more surprises coming. https://t.co/gwj1sZSQnY

— Vince Zampella (@VinceZampella) February 11, 2019

Zampella wasn’t the only one to express his gratitude for the huge number of players. Publisher Electronic Arts and Respawn also made themselves heard through official channels, with the biggest gesture turning out to be an explosive Week One in Review video, full of highlights of those that helped drive Apex’s success:

At the time of writing, the game manages to connect around two million simultaneous sessions during peak times, and this number only seems to continue to rise.

Apex Legends will get a new season starting in March and, like the other upcoming seasons, it should last about three months. The intention is that new content will continue to be added to the game.

Apex Legends provided with second patch

Developer Respawn Entertainment has released a new update for Apex Legends. The fresh patch is the second for Apex Legends since the game’s launch. The patch was made available this morning for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Good news for the 25 million gamers who have played Apex Legends.

The second patch for Apex Legends brings various fixes for all platforms. Still, the main purpose of the patch is to fix crashes of the PlayStation 4 version. Apparently, this is why the GPU hangs or the game can crash if you press a button while loading.

View the compact below:

PS4
Addresses issues we saw with GPU hangs.
Fixed crash when pressing button early in load process.

All platforms
Fixed issue where players would sometimes move slowly after revive.
Fixed issue with Mirage Ability causing crashes.
Fixed issue with Gibraltar Epic skins on Xbox One causing crashes

Is Apex Legends really as brilliant as millions of gamers claim? You can read that in our extensive Apex Legends review.

Apex Legends PS5 version has surfaced

A PS5 version of Apex Legends has surfaced in PlayStation’s database. This means that the battle royale game will probably get the next-gen update soon.

A Playstation 5 version of Apex Legends has surfaced in the PlayStation Network database. That reports the Twitter account PlayStation Game Size. According to the account, the game would be over 80GB in Sony’s database.

At this time, Apex Legends only supports the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, but will work on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S through backwards compatibility. This allows you to play the shooter at 60 frames per second on next-gen consoles, but doesn’t offer any new bonuses like adaptive triggers or haptic feedback for the PS5’s controller.

Apex Legends could potentially take a similar path to Call of Duty: Warzone. For example, Respawn Entertainment, the developer of Apex Legends, wants to ensure that next-gen players can play at 120 FPS, just like in Warzone. A higher one can mean the difference between life and death in a fast-paced and competitive battle royale game.

Next-gen update coming soon?

When the next-gen update will be available to players is not yet known. It probably won’t be long now. The update was announced back in February 2021, and it was announced at the end of last year that the studio was still working on the update.

Apex Legends Review – Fresh wind blowing through the battle royale genre

After spending hours on battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG, it’s time for a breath of fresh air in the battle royale genre. Apex Legends, from the creators of Titanfall, brings a fresh, yet familiar feel to battle royale games. The game also has a number of nice additions, as you can read in this Apex Legends review.

While making this Apex Legends review, we dive into the next level battle royale game with a futuristic touch. For a battle royale game, Apex Legends still has some story to it, but not much. Apex Legends, from the creators of Titanfall, is set 30 years after the events of Titanfall. There are no Titans to parade around in.

The goal of the massively large battles with up to 60 players is to collect money, but also compete for the fame that comes with the winner, so much for the Apex Legends storyline. This is immediately apparent when starting the game.

It is said that the Legends (which are the characters you play as) all participate for different reasons. One participates for the fame and another character participates again because he has no choice. In the further course of Apex Legends you hardly notice these stories, there is no story mode either.

Apex Legends jump master

A very nice addition in Apex Legends is the option to designate a Jumpmaster. Before your squad (which consists of three players including yourself) jumps out of the plane, a Jumpmaster is selected. This person determines during the dive to the surface where the entire squad will land.

The assigned jumpmaster in turn can also decline the role, after which someone else will be assigned the role. During the dive, the other two squad members can indicate where they prefer to land and they can also break from the group and find their own way down.

Nice gameplay with a mix of different games

While making the Apex Legends Review we dive into the mega map that looks a lot like Titanfall. Similar structures and graphics can be found in Titanfall 1 and 2. The tall buildings on which free-run activities are performed are only missing in Apex Legends. Free-running is also not possible, which is a pity. A large open map with a lot of space gives a lot of opportunity for all kinds of aerial antics.

The ability to choose from 8 Legends that all have their own skills reminds us of Overwatch’s character system, unlike other battle royale games, where your character is only cosmetic.

Extensive environments

Just like in Fortnite, the ring where the game continues is getting smaller and smaller. The map is laid out similar to other battle royale games. You have a number of hotspots where there is a lot of housing and where you can probably find more loot and there are large open spaces where you have to watch out that no one sees you. The pace is quite fast and it usually doesn’t take long until you encounter another squad.

There are also a number of key points on the map that can help you and your squad progress through the game. During the jump to the map, the Supply Ship flies around which you can also land on. Useful pieces of loot can be found here such as weapons, armor and health kits.

You can also see on the enlarged map in the menu that a blue circle appears every now and then. In this zone you have the chance to find better weapons with additional modifications, called hot zones. That is also one of the nice additions to Apex Legends, even if you have picked up a weapon, you can change a lot about the weapon, such as adding another magazine or putting a new scope on it. With most shooter games this is only possible before the game starts and with Fortnite, for example, you have no choice and you have to use the weapon how you picked it up.

During the match, crates with extra loot often land on the map, these so-called Supply drops are essential for the smooth running of the match, as they usually contain better loot than what you are currently carrying with you. So don’t be too slow to get to these Supply drops, as these are highly sought after items in Apex Legends.

Essential items to have

In addition to an arsenal of weapons that you can pick up, there are also important items that you will need. The most important of these are the armor, helmet medkits and shieldcells, which replenish your shield and health. There are different tiers of all these items, one of which gives more benefits than the other.

Important to know is, if you have picked up a shield cell you cannot use it yet. You must first have body armor on and only then can you replenish your shield. So first look for body armor and later focus on the shieldcells.

The pace is quite high and especially at the beginning of the game. If you land in a densely populated area, you can take poison from encountering another squad. so start looking for items as quickly as possible, or try to land in a less dense area.

Apex Legends weapons are divided into 6 categories: Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, Light Machine Guns, Submachine Guns, and Assault Rifles. There are 2 to 4 weapons within these categories, with a surprisingly large number of skins for each weapon to unlock. Weapon attachments cannot be chosen in advance, you will find them during the game.

A very unfortunate addition to Apex Legends are the microtransactions. Players can purchase Apex Coins with real money, which can be used to purchase skins for weapons and characters. Apex Packs can also be purchased with this.

It is a pity that more and more games are offering the option to make microtransactions. Who needs to pay 7.50 euros to play as a new character? Fortunately, all skins and characters can also be earned by just playing, but it will take a little longer.

The makers of Apex Legends promise that when opening Apex Packs there will be at least one Rare item per Pack, when opening these packs they more than live up to it so far. the drop rate of Rare items and above is also quite high, you get more Rare items than you got useless junk. Furthermore, a Legendary will be released per 30 Packs, guaranteed.

Communication is very important in Apex Legends

Communication within Apex Legends is very important. it is possible, among other things, to indicate that there is a weapon or ammunition somewhere. Your Legend therefore calls out specifically what is on the ground. You can also indicate where you want to navigate to or you can let your squad know that you have just seen an enemy.

Indicating where enemy players are is very important for communication within the squad. It can just happen that you are faced with surprises without communicating.

Enough variation in characters

The different characters you can choose from are the so-called Legends, each of which has unique skills and powers. When you start Apex Legends, 6 of the 8 Legends are available to choose. The remaining two can be purchased with in-game currency or by purchasing Apex Coins with real money.

The playable characters of Apex Legends are well balanced, but it becomes clear during gameplay that some skills are more useful than others. The ability to see everyone for a short period of time, even through walls and buildings comes in handy more than the ability to drop a bombardment of explosive missiles on your enemies.

After playing for a few hours and collecting enough in-game currency it was finally possible to unlock the last two characters. The two characters Caustic and Mirage both give a new twist to Apex Legends in their own way.

For example, Caustic can spread poisonous gas canisters across the playing field and Mirage has a very handy skill where you put a holographic version of yourself on the map. Our experience shows that of the last two characters, Mirage’s skills are more effective than Caustic’s. Mirage’s ultimate is that he can spawn a whole group of decoys.

Apex Legends Review – The battle royale game we’ve been waiting for

Between the overwhelming violence of battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG, Apex Legends tries to give a breath of fresh air to the genre. Apex Legends also succeeds quite well with several features that make the game a pleasure to play. Adding the so-called gives a nice team feeling to your squad, so you avoid having to run fifty kilometers to the other side of the map to revive someone who then doesn’t do you the same service and only goes looking for the best loot.

Furthermore, the playable characters with unique skills are a nice new addition that gives more variation in character building. It is a pity that the microtransactions are also present in this battle royale game, but we can rest assured since the loot is only cosmetic. Apex Legends combines many nice features that already exist in various games. A good balance between beautiful graphics and good features makes Apex Legends a very good addition to the battle royale genre.

8.5

The pluses and minuses

  • Innovative features
  • Beautiful graphics
  • Good character variation
  • Cool gear
  • Loot Packs are cosmetic only
  • Only one mode
  • Microtransactions
  • No free run option

Apex Legends Season 12 brings us a new character

Not only will the twelfth season of Apex Legends start next month, the game will also celebrate its three-year anniversary. A new character will be added to the roster for this special occasion.

The new character you can play with in February is ‘Mad Maggie’. You’ve seen her before, in the introductory video of Fuse. Like all previous additional characters, Mad Maggie is introduced through a video and you can check it out below this post.

In addition to the additional character, the twelfth season of Apex Legends will also – among other things – present a new mode: Control. As the name suggests, you have to keep certain points on a map under your control and you can spawn here unlimited. This mode will be available in the first three weeks of the new season.

The three-year anniversary is also being celebrated by giving players the ability to unlock Octane, Wattson, and Valkyrie for free. All you have to do is log in during the first three weeks of the twelfth season. You also get three ‘thematic packs’.

Apex Legends Season 18 Trailer Showcases Revenant’s New Abilities

Apex Legends is almost ready for season number 18, which will start on August 8 and is called ‘Resurrection’. This new season will continue the story and to get an impression EA has released a new trailer, which you can check out below.

Together with the images, the publisher has also shared an overview of the most important points, so that you get a clear picture of the upcoming season:

  • Revenant is reborn Brimming with rage and a broken spirit, this season Revenant gains a dangerous new look and deadly new abilities that give him an overwhelming advantage over his prey. In addition to Revenant being available to all players throughout the season, players will gain permanent access by completing a series of challenges during the new season. To do this, they must master the new skills:
    • Passive: “Assassin’s Instinct” – Revenant can mark nearby low-life enemies. He can also walk faster while crouching and climbs walls better than anyone else.
    • Tactical: “Shadow Pounce” – Revenant can make a powerful leap forward to close the distance between him and his prey.
    • Ultimate: “Forged Shadows” – Revenant creates a veil of shadow around him, which blocks damage and allows him to replenish his health. This shadow and its tactical are updated when it knocks an enemy to the ground.
  • Mixtape on Broken Moon – The popular game mode lands on Broken Moon. Players have the option to throw themselves into Gun Run and Team Deathmatch in The Core or play a game of Control in the Production Yard.

  • Resurrection Battle Pass – New weapon skins, Legend skins, emotes and much more will be released along with August 8.

Apex Legends Season 2 will be revealed at EA Play 2019

Just as Fortnite developer Epic Games received some nasty reports about the working practices surrounding their battle royale game, Respawn suddenly comes out with more positive sounds and reflections on their own Apex Legends. In a recent blog post, the development studio is more transparent about the state of affairs, with of course also more promises for the future.

In addition to the obligatory words about tackling cheaters and expressions of gratitude for the millions of players, Respawn reveals more about the upcoming second “season” of Apex Legends. We should see more of this at the upcoming EA Play in June (at the time of E3 2019), but even now the development studio wants to pass on a number of rules of thumb for the seasons.

For example, each next season must bring at least one new Legend and a new twist for the meta, but the content of the associated (paid) Battle Pass must also be expanded. After all, this debuted somewhat weakly in terms of rewards to be achieved and Respawn will from now on take those complaints into future seasons, they say.

In addition, Respawn immediately teases something new for Season 2 of Apex Legends. The words are not really tangible yet, but apparently the well-known battlefield of King’s Canyon is not forever. The development team may want to experiment with a fluid shooting arena from this second season, just like major competitor Fortnite has been playing with its battlefield for some time.

What exactly is about to change is still quite mysterious. We will undoubtedly hear more at this year’s EA Play festivities, although for the first time this year there will be no real press conference.

Bombastic show or not, by then you will of course read the latest Apex Legends news here, on SamaGame.

Apex Legends Season 8 brings new character

  • Get your Apex Legends coins for the Battle Pass here!

In the video, we see at the end that he loses his right arm, prompting the implementation of a mechanical replacement. This is his tactical ability, called ”, with which he can shoot a grenade from his arm to blow up anyone in his path.

More skills are known for Fuse

In addition to his tactical ability, his has also been leaked. This would be called ” and can be compared to a napalm attack. There is a cannon on his back, with which he can shoot a missile. This rocket leaves a trail of fire, which will cause some problems for unsuspecting players.

It is not yet known what the future will be for Fuse. For that, we’ll have to wait for Apex Legends Season 8, which comes out on February 2.

In addition to a new character, you will also be able to use a brand new weapon, which will strengthen your arsenal quite nicely. This time the new weapon comes in the form of a , called the 30-30 Repeater.

More about this game

Apex Legends season 9 will be all about new Titanfall content

As you may know, Apex Legends takes place in the same universe of Respawn Entertainment’s first game: Titanfall. The latter franchise will remain in the drawer for the time being, so that Respawn can fully focus on expanding Apex Legends, but the American studio has certainly not forgotten Titanfall.

In fact, it looks like the developer will increasingly intertwine the two franchises in the upcoming season – the ninth already. Apex Legends director Chad Grenier recently announced in a BrownGirlGamerCode stream that season 9 will focus on Titanfall-related content.

“Next season, Season 9, you’re actually going to see a ton of Titanfall coming back into the game, in one way or another. I’ve told some people before, if you’re a Titanfall fan, hang on for Season 9 because there’s going to be some really cool stuff there.”

We’ll have to wait and see if that means we’ll soon be able to unleash the enormous Titans on the battlefield. After all, Grenier has previously indicated that this is a possibility, perhaps as a separate mode within Apex Legends.

Apex Legends second season starts July 2

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have provided more information about the second season of Apex Legends. During EA Play in Los Angeles, a lot of new content was revealed for the next season called Battle Charge.

First of all, a new season means a new one and it will be much more attractive than the heavily criticized first pass. Once again you have the entire season to reach level one hundred, but it goes a lot faster with the addition of daily and weekly challenges. Completing these challenges will give you a big boost in your progression and the best part is that you can’t miss them. Weekly challenges do not disappear but are saved, so that you can still achieve everything at a later time.

The battle pass is guaranteed to contain 4 legendary skins, for Octane, Caustic, Spitfire and R301 Carbine, and enough to create a fifth skin once you reach level 100. A lot of cool content is also being added for Apex Legends fans without a battle pass. In addition to the new character Wattson, weapons are also added to the game.

The new weapon is the L-Star and this mega powerful one is only available from a care package. The L-Star is fully automatic and so powerful that it can break doors. Two unknown Hop-ups have also been announced, one of which finally seems to make Mozambique useful. We will get more information about this later.

Finally, a ranked mode will also be added on July 2, to show your skills at the highest level. There are six tiers ranging from Bronze to the highest level Apex Predator. At the end of the season, your progress will be rewarded with another unknown reward.

All in all, it is a big update and some things were teased during the conference, including something with large flying monsters. We may see this later, but on July 2, Season 2 Battle Charge will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Xbox Quick Resume – turn it on and off when it can cause problems

Quick Resume on Xbox is one of the killer features that caused quite a stir from the announcement of Microsoft’s new console. It still does it and mostly as it should: As a valuable time saver when gaming. However, sometimes it can also cost you time if you are unlucky. Read here what Quick Resume is, how to turn it on and off, and what problems there can be with Quick Resume on Xbox.

What is Xbox Quick Resume?

The basic idea of Quick Resume is that you can simply switch off the console at any time and when you start it again, you continue to play. Without having to load the game, with practically no waiting time at startup. And not just for a game in progress, as was already possible with the Xbox One, but for every game that you have installed. In principle, the Xbox always writes the game status to a cache on the fast SSD disk and can then access it immediately. The whole thing should also run much more stable than was the case with the Xbox One, where it felt like half of all games liked to crash. In principle, Quick Resume is a real step forward compared to the times when you first had to load games you installed yourself and then load the game as well.

How do you turn Quick Resume on and off?

Basically every game marked X / S for Xbox Series X and S in your library has the Quick Resume feature activatedright from the start. Start the Xbox and such a game, then press the Xbox button in the game and start another X / S game. Now you can switch back and forth between these two games practically immediately, or later when you start the console, both of which are just as funny as you want to continue playing right where you left off.

You can even take the Xbox off the power and reconnect later and the quick resume scores will still be there as well.

Of course, you can’t start an endless number of games, at some point the cache is full and the Xbox creates space by throwing out the things that you haven’t started for the longest time – usually the limit is around five games. It all happens automatically, you don’t have to do anything. But you can, if you want, because when you press the Xbox button, then navigate to the game that should no longer be in memory and press the options button. Select “Quit”, then the game is closed and also taken from memory.

Quick Resume is such a great feature that no one would want to turn it off while it is working. Therefore there does not seem to be any function how to actively switch it off. It is currently not possible to specifically switch off Quick Resume.

It’s a shame because:

Games that have problems with quick resume

There are a few games where Quick Resume doesn’t always work the way it’s supposed to. When you return to the game and expect to pick up where you left off, you suddenly find yourself at an earlier point in time, sometimes hours back.

When that happens, you can only do one Actively load the previous saved game and hope that either the game’s auto-save worked or you thought about saving.

At first it was thought that the problem was primarily related to Xbox One backward compatible titles, but there are also games that are new. Here are a few titles that can currently cause problems with Quick Resume:

  • Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
  • Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
  • Borderlands 3
  • Dirt 5
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • NBA 2K21
  • The Falconeer
  • Watch Dogs: Legion
  • Yakuza: Like A Dragon

This list is by no means exhaustive and Micrososft is aware of the problem. There is no patch yet, but the promise to work on it at full speed. Good thing, because there’s nothing worse than a memory – or quick resume – feature that doesn’t work properly.

F1 23 name change on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series

Anyone who has bought the new F1 23 and has already played one or two rounds against friends or players from all over the world online may ask themselves how can the name be changed? Is there a setting in F1 23 to change the visible player name and if so where is it on the pc or console version?

Customize player names in F1 23

As in the predecessors, there is no option in F1 23 to set a “player name” in the game that is displayed to the other players. Instead, it simply uses the EA name, Steam name, PSN name, or Xbox Live name set on PC or console. This also means that if you want to change the visible player name in F1 23 multiplayer, you can only do this by changing the name on the respective platform. In Steam and in the EA client you can change the name relatively easily, as follows.

Steam:

  1. Open the Steam client, click on the name in the upper right corner and “View my profile”.
  2. You can now change and save the profile name using the “Edit profile” button.

EA Client:

  1. Open EA Client, click on the profile picture in the top right corner and then click on “Edit Profile”.
  2. You can now assign a new player name under “Change nickname”, which will then also be displayed in F1 23.

If you play F1 23 on PS5 or PS4 and want to change the name to F1 23, you need to change the PSN name. The first name change is free, but subsequent name changes will incur charges on PlayStation Network. If you have an active PS Plus subscription, you will receive a 50 percent discount. The situation is similar on Xbox One and Xbox Series in Xbox Live.

Tip: You can create your own league in F1 23 and play with friends.

Xbox Series X: Microsoft is investigating CMOS battery issues

Image: Microsoft

Microsoft is investigating the Xbox CMOS situation to prevent problems in the future.

The discussions about CMOS batteries in consoles came to light earlier this year when Sony announced that it would be closing its digital stores for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The CMOS battery powers a console’s internal clock. So when a game is launched on the console, the internal clock checks the date and time on a remote server to ensure that users can play their game.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer says Microsoft is investigating the CMOS battery issues on Xbox hardware:

“The hardware team is hearing the message that our consoles should enable an ongoing relationship between players and the content they own. “So we’re hearing the message and the teams are looking at things,” Spencer said.

In theory, if an online feature like PlayStation Network or Xbox LIVE isn’t working properly, the console won’t be able to connect, meaning games won’t be able to be played. Now it looks like CMOS batteries in PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 no longer have this problem as Sony has released some updates. Microsoft will investigate the Xbox CMOS situation to prevent future problems.

Xbox Game Pass: Has 60% market share in gaming subscription services according to analysis

Image: Microsoft / Depositphotos

With Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has a 60% market share in gaming subscription services.

According to an analysis of subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, the impact on the gaming industry is rather small compared to the music and film industries.

According to Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis, such gaming subscription services account for just 4% of revenue in North America and Europe.

That would be just 3.7 billion of the 81 billion generated from games (discs, downloads, add-ons) in these regions.

If you look at the music industry, it’s just a drop in the ocean. Streaming services like Spotify accounted for 83% of revenue there last year.

According to the analysis, Microsoft will continue to have a 60% market share with its 25 million Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Lords of the Fallen 2023: Graphics comparison: Xbox Series X|S vs. PS5

Image: CI Games

A graphics comparison takes a closer look at Lords of the Fallen on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, but despite patches there are still problems.

Digital Foundry tested the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of Lords of the Fallen. Even after the patches, the Xbox consoles are struggling with frame rate drops down to the single digits.

The Xbox Series S Performance Mode has a 720p dynamic resolution between 768×432 – 1280×720. The frame rate in this mode usually fluctuates between 60 and 40 FPS. You experience a serious drop in resolution and FPS in the boss fight against Pieta. Here the resolution drops to the minimum of 432p while only 21 – 25 frames per second are achieved. In this case, the image quality during movement is often poor.

In smaller, closed dungeons, the Xbox Series S can reach 60 FPS. One problem is the frame time “delivery”, which can lead to sudden drops below 10 FPS. Another patch is needed here.

The Xbox Series In the tutorial and the first areas, the console maintains 60 FPS almost continuously, the Pieta boss fight and also the Skyrest Hub push the performance into the 40 FPS range.

While overall performance is better than that of the Xbox Series S, there are still stutters and loss of performance. After about two hours of play, a bug occurred with a performance drop of up to 1 FPS, which could be resolved by restarting the game.

The PlayStation 5, like the Xbox Series The quality is comparable to the Xbox Series X version. The PlayStation 5 scores points in that no bugs with a drop in performance into the single-digit FPS range were observed in the test, resulting in a more stable overall experience.

In addition to the performance mode, there is a 30 FPS quality mode to choose from on every console. Both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 can recreate a more convincing 4K image here, while the Xbox Series S improves with a 972p image. Shadows and reflections also have better quality. While Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 have little difference in image quality, Xbox Series S has to accept significant compromises. Here Digital Foundry writes from the “muddiest image quality“ that you have ever seen on the Xbox Series S console.

The conclusion is that the patches so far have not been able to sufficiently address the technical difficulties of Lords of the Fallen.

World of Tanks: The tanks are now rolling on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S

  • World of Tanks is now also playable on the next-gen consoles
  • This brings optimized graphics and faster loading times into play
  • Comparative screenshots show improved textures on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S

As Wargaming confirms, the free online action game World of Tanks Console is now also available for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X / S thanks to backward compatibility. The version for the two new platforms is now available for free download.

The game does not have any major new features on the next-gen devices, but it runs at least faster and nicer, in better resolution, with higher frame rates and faster loading times. The action game now also manages 4K with 60fps and how the MMO looks optically on the new consoles, compared to before, you can see here in two screenshots:

At the next-gen, this first impression shows at least more detailed textures, especially with regard to the plants in the area, and more realistic contrasts of light and shadow, especially on the metal of the vehicle. If you change the game platform in World of Tanks, your own achievements and purchases will also move.

World of Tanks is team-based online multiplayer action with a focus on tank combat – as the name might suggest. You can compete against each other 15 against 15 in the huge, rolling machines. In addition to the next-gen, you can also play World of Tanks Console on PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X.

A somewhat unusual season is currently running in World of Tanks, which includes a somewhat weird crossover with Hot Wheels. Also in the “normal” World of Tanks, the PC version, the 3rd season is currently running again and that until December 8th, 2020 – with a corresponding Battle Pass.

Xbox Series X Dashboard: This bug in Microsoft Edge is extremely annoying

Image: Microsoft

There is a bug in the Microsoft Edge browser on the Xbox console that is extremely annoying – SBOX_FATAL_MEMORY_EXCEEDED.

Maybe you’ve already had one Microsoft Edge browser used to watch a longer video on the Xbox console in the browser. If so, you too will definitely have the “SBOX_FATAL_MEMORY_EXCEEDED“-errors have seen.

The video simply stops and the error is displayed. You can then refresh the page to continue the video, but you have to log in again and after what feels like 10 minutes it happens again and again.

The error has been known for months and complaints are piling up everywhere. There has been discussion about what could be the problem for over seven months, especially on Reddit. Some of Microsoft’s suggested solutions also don’t work.

A report from May 2022 describes the annoying Microsoft Edge bug, which we also get hit with almost every day, very well:

“That’s exactly what happens to me too. Edge app on Xbox exceeds memory when playing a video above 720p on most websites. Getting the error (SBOX_FATAL_MEMORY_EXCEEDED).”

“I have to refresh the page to continue the video and that happens every 10 minutes. For some reason it doesn’t seem to happen when I watch YouTube, but it happened on every other video streaming website I tried. I can only assume that something went wrong with the last Edge update. I’ve tried every troubleshooting technique, even resetting the console to factory settings. This must be a problem with Edge. Until the problem is fixed, you can apparently still watch in 720p without any problems. I suggest reporting the issue to Edge. Click on the 3 dots in the top right, go down to Help & Feedback and then Send Feedback. If they get a few reports, they should look into the problem.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 in 4K and 60FPS on Xbox Series X?

Xbox Series X is PS5 are fast approaching and many specialized portals have received next-gen consoles by Microsoft is Sony. Among these is the British editorial staff of Digital Foundry.

John Linneman confirmed in a tweet that DF is now in possession of an Xbox Series X. Fans wasted no time and started asking about the console. Among these users, someone asked on Twitter if we will ever see on Series X Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar.

Following this first question, more tweets have arrived from other users who, however, have questioned the performance of the game on Series X. For example, a fan claims that RDR2 on Series X will have the same performance as the Xbox One X version. .

In response to another tweet questioning Series X’s capabilities, John Linneman’s comment came: “you may want to save this tweet for later. I mean to say“.

You might want to bookmark this tweet for later. Just sayin?

Tutorial : How to Fix Xbox Crashes in Palworld

Palworld is a very fun survival game, but trying to survive numerous crashes while playing on your Xbox console is not a good time. Is there any way to improve this, or should you put it aside for now?

Can you fix Xbox crashes in Palworld

Screenshot by blog

There are a few different troubleshooting tips you can try to see if you can keep your Xbox version of Palworld more stable, so let’s start at the top.

Restart your Xbox console

While it may seem like an easy thing to do, most modern consoles tend to go into sleep mode when we turn them off. While this makes the reboot process faster than ever, some issues can coincide with not restarting your console often, such as games like Palworld crashing. Restart your system and see if that helps you progress in your new favorite survival game.

Close Palworld and start it again

Xbox Series consoles allow players to put up to 5 games in a suspended state in the background, so sometimes fully releasing a game isn’t even considered. Giving Palworld what is essentially a force shutdown might help you resolve some of these issues, as having an online game running in the background for too long could cause issues with both Server Connectivityas well as general issues that might affect your game.

At the time of writing, the latest Palworld update was released on January 29, 2024 and provided a good number of fixes. However, it still seems like players are having issues with crashes, so we may have to be patient and wait for the development team to iron out the rest of these wrinkles. The game is still in early access, so unfortunately bugs and issues should be expected.

So while there’s no perfect solution at this point, updates are coming pretty quickly, so be sure to keep an eye on our Palworld section below to see when the next updates will arrive , and find out how to make weapons like muskets with ease.

Buyers of Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One Limited Edition Bundle will receive a partial refund

They are actually entitled to the upcoming expansion through this more expensive edition. However, CD Projekt RED comes up with a neat solution, because on their website to write they say that buyers of this bundle will get a part of their money back.

The refund will be in the form of credits for the Microsoft Store. More details will be announced by the developer later.

“Owners of the Xbox One X – Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition Bundle will receive a reimbursement for the expansion in the form of Microsoft Store credits. Please stay tuned for more details about this procedure.”

Nvidia RTX 3070 will be a threat to Xbox Series X but not PS5, Digital Foundry explains why

The new GPUs of Nvidia, the series RTX 3000, promises to catapult PC gamers into the world of the next generation and beyond, with tech specs to make any console pale.

Precisely by virtue of their potential, second Richard Leadbetter of Digital foundry, the new graphics cards from Nvidia, in particular the RTX 3070, will pose a real threat to Xbox Series X… and only for her, why PlayStation 5 it should be safe.

The explanation behind this reasoning? Quite simply, the RTX 3070 will cost 519 euros / 499 dollars and will offer, at or near the same price as a next-gen console, much better performance and performance. This will make it a great choice for those who want to jump into next-gen gaming PCs, without spending the extra money on higher-class RTX GPUs.

While the Xbox Series X exclusives, by the express will of Microsoft, will also be released on PC, buying a console would mean playing something of lower quality than what you can get at the same price with an RTX 3070. That would, according to Digital Foundry, be the risk that newer Nvidia GPUs pose for the next one – gen from Microsoft.

Why should the PlayStation 5 be immune to all of this? Basically because, although it also has lower performance than a 3070, the first exclusive parts will remain exclusive for consoles and will not land on PC. In short, having a gaming PC and an Xbox Series X would become superfluous and redundant, while a PC and a PS5 would ensure a full range of video games available.

Obviously, we have to add the necessary premises to the Digital Foundry discourse: of course, Nvidia’s new GPUs would provide better performance than next-gen consoles, but a gaming PC is not just made up of a GPU and many other components are needed to create it; the assembly costs of such a PC would certainly exceed those of a console which, on the other hand, guarantees instant access to next-gen games, with no additional components to purchase. A different story if you already have a powerful PC and just need to switch graphics cards, but it was worth pointing out.

Additionally, although Sony is a fan of console exclusives, it has recently observed the PC market with great interest and excluding Death Stranding, exclusive PS4 console, but developed by a third-party studio, Horizon Zero Dawn has shown that the arrival on PC of its first parties can now not be ruled out.

Of course, even if the PS5 titles end up on the PC, they will first have to spend a long time in “isolation” on the Sony console.

In short, despite a few snippets, Digital Foundry’s reasoning makes sense. What do you think about it? If you have a powerful PC, would you still buy an Xbox Series X? Or do you share DF’s thought?

PS5 and Xbox Series X: the list of all games with 120fps support – guide

Microsoft recently confirmed that Halo Infinite, the flagship game of the Xbox Series X, will support 120fps gameplay in multiplayer mode. This led us to question what other games have 120Hz support confirmed on compatible 4K TVs and screens.

So we did some research and this article is the result: an exhaustive and detailed list of all the games for PS5 and Xbox Series X that go beyond the historic 60fps refresh limit of the consoles. In addition to the list of titles with such support, we have also included the connection technology of 4K 120Hz TVs (HDMI 2.1) and also the best 4K TVs for next-gen gaming.

While many users will be playing next-gen consoles on TV, we’ve also covered the other option, which is high-refresh PC monitors. These have in fact been available on the market for several years, so we have compiled a list of recommended models that support at least 120Hz or more at different resolutions. We have in fact included monitors with native resolution 1080p and 1440p, and also the very first models equipped with an HDMI 2.1 interface, necessary for 4K at 120Hz.

In addition to the games and screen recommendations, we’ve also included a short guide to gaming at a120fps. Scroll the page or go directly to the section that interests you most using the navigation guide below:

Before we begin, let’s ask ourselves a simple question:

Why is 120fps better than 60fps?

Answer: The higher the frame-rate, the lower your input lag and the higher the temporal resolution.

These two side effects make the gameplay of frenetic games such as shooter or racing easier, being able to react more readily to the appearance of an enemy or to perceive in advance the approach of a sharp bend. You can see all of this demonstrated in our “Over 60fps” video.

High-refresh monitors had a big impact on PC gaming when they were introduced years ago, and we expect a similar effect on consoles now that 120fps is on the plate.

Obviously there is a trade-off between high frame-rates and graphics fidelity. For games where fast-paced sections are rare, or where developers want to emphasize the visuals of their worlds through higher resolution or enhanced effects, sticking to a more traditional 30fps or 60fps may make more sense.

Which PS5 and Xbox Series X games support 120fps?

At the moment, we know that there are eight games on PS5 or Series X that support 120fps, and the spread is nowhere near even.

While the PS5 has an innovative design in many ways, we’ve heard very little about which games will support 120fps. The PS5 slate currently only contains a handful of titles, but it is sure to grow over time.

The full list of 120fps PS5 titles

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
  • Dirt 5
  • Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
  • Rainbow Six Siege

Now let’s take a look at the other side of the coin with the Xbox Series X. Given that Microsoft balances the situation with PC gaming on Windows, perhaps it’s not surprising to see more games with 120fps support on consoles. Here is the list of games confirmed so far.

The complete list of Xbox Series X games at 120fps

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
  • Dirt 5
  • ExoMecha
  • Gears 5
  • Halo Infinite (multiplayer)
  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection
  • Metal: Hellsinger
  • Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Orphan of the Machine
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Second Extinction
  • The Falconeer

Backward compatibility can send some titles at 120fps as well: the Series X doubles the original 60fps refresh, sending it to 120fps.

However, we still have no confirmation of any visual compromises in 120fps gameplay.

Best TVs and monitors for gaming at 120fps, recommended by Digital Foundry

If you like fast-paced titles like first person shooter or racing, we recommend a TV that supports high refresh rates with the new consoles, as long as your budget allows it. Here are our recommended models for each category, including LG’s gorgeous OLEDs and competing alternatives from Samsung and Sony. Each model chosen offers 120fps at 4K, variable refresh rate and low input lag, making them perfect models for gaming. By clicking on each model you will access our detailed article The best TVs for 4K gaming with HDR.

The best 4K and 120Hz TVs for PS5 and Xbox Series X

  • LG CX OLED (via HDMI 2.1)
  • Samsung Q80T QLED (via HDMI 2.1)
  • Sony XH9005 / X900H (via HDMI 2.1, which will arrive via software update)
  • LG NanoCell 85

Note: The 49-inch Q80T has a 60Hz panel instead of the 120Hz one used in the larger variants. And it also lacks support for variable refreshes, as well as having worse viewing angles, so we recommend getting the 55-inch variants.

Gaming monitors are also a great choice for PS5 or Series X, but be warned that at the time of this writing, no models support HDMI 2.1 input. Of course, this doesn’t stop you from enjoying 120Hz at resolutions below 4K, such as 1440p or 1080p, as the HDMI 2.0 standard supports 120Hz for these resolutions. To reach 144Hz at 1440p you’ll need to turn off adaptive V-Sync. This is an option to consider because these monitors are significantly cheaper than the 4K and 120Hz alternatives. The first monitor announced with HDMI 2.1 support is the Eve Spectrum, linked below, but we expect more compatible models to arrive later this year.

Best 120Hz gaming monitors for PS5 and Xbox Series X

  • AOC 24G2U (1080p 120Hz via HDMI 1.4)
  • BenQ EX2780Q (1440p 120Hz via HDMI 2.0)
  • LG 27GL850 (1440p 120Hz via HDMI 2.0 w / VRR disabled)
  • Eve Spectrum (4K 120Hz via HDMI 2.1)

Digital Foundry’s guide to 120fps next-gen gaming

What is HDMI 2.1?

Long story short, HDMI 2.1 is the new standard that increases the amount of data that can be carried over an HDMI cable. While the ports may always look the same, increased bandwidth requires new cables, new source devices (consoles and next-gen graphics cards), and new output devices (TVs and monitors). If the whole chain is upgraded to HDMI 2.1 support, then you will get several features.

The most important feature for us is to send more frames per second at a given resolution. On the previous HDMI 2.0 standard it was possible to send a maximum image 60 times per second. On HDMI this amount doubles, becoming 120 frames per second for 4K.

Other features include an automatic low latency mode that basically allows the TV to disable certain processes to lower input lag, and support for variable refreshes, which eliminate screen tearing and judder artifacts without adding side effect of the increased input lag of v-sync. Other features also include HDMI VRR (included with the HDMI 2.1 standard), FreeSync (for AMD graphics cards) and G-Sync (for Nvidia graphics cards).

What is the difference between 120Hz and 120fps?

The Hertz (Hz) indicate the number of times a screen refreshes in one second. The maximum refresh rate is an intrinsic part of every model of TV or monitor; most screens stop at 60Hz but some go as low as 120Hz. Gaming monitors are notoriously available at refresh rates above 60Hz, some models even go up to 360Hz, with the most common supporting 144Hz or 240Hz.

THE Frames per second (fps) (fps) indicate the number of images generated by the console or PC in one second. This can be locked to some degree, normally to keep new frames constantly updated, or unlocked to allow for higher frame-rates in less demanding games to render.

Halo is for everyone. We can confirm #HaloInfinite multiplayer will be free-to-play and will support 120FPS on Xbox Series X. More details will be shared later! pic.twitter.com/9bIrppFiON

Ideally, these two parameters should be similar most of the time to take advantage of the low input lag and improved temporal resolution mentioned earlier. For example, if your screen is at 120Hz and your console is delivering 120 frames per second, then you will make the most of your setup.

If your console only delivers 60fps, then you won’t have an advantage in using a 120Hz screen over a 60Hz one. Conversely, if your console generates a fixed 120fps but is connected to a 60Hz screen, you will get a boost in responsiveness. * but not comparable to the 120fps and 120Hz pairing.

If you like fast-paced games, it makes sense to have a 120Hz screen. Even though the console produces a frame-rate between 60 and 120fps, you’ll get a more and more responsive image on a 120Hz screen versus a 60Hz one.

We’re still a few weeks away from the launch of the consoles, so we’re still not sure how the games will run, if the frame-rate will be completely fixed at 120fps or if there will be dips here and there. But considering the powerful processors mounted on the fixed 120fps consoles they are sustainable, and we’re thrilled to see the new machines in action.

What about the Xbox Series S?

In theory, the Xbox Series S should run games at 120fps like the Xbox Series X but at a lower resolution. Little is known, but Ubisoft has outlined the performance of some of its games for each next-gen console. We hope to know more as the launch approaches.

All about Game Pass Core: what it offers, the first 19 games announced and the differences with Xbox Live Gold

xbox live gold its days are numbered. Literally. As of September, the new plan to play online on Xbox consoles, its replacement, is called Game Pass Core. More than a name change, it is an entry option to Microsoft’s video game subscription service based on two claims: the multiplayer experience and access to a catalog of more than 25 games. From there, the two questions ask themselves: what will happen to my plan and what games are they?

The transition from Xbox Live Gold to Game Pass Core is automatic and will take place on September 14, 2023. According to Microsoft, it will no longer be possible to contract Xbox Live Gold from that month (which makes sense) and we will be able to continue enjoying all those games that we have claimed over the years as long as we have Game Pass Core as normal. In addition, it ensures that, despite the change, subscribers will maintain the price.

That being said, in the case of Xbox 360 games, items already claimed with Xbox Live Gold have always been owned by the playerwith which a subscription is not necessary to download or enjoy them via backward compatibility on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

The first 19 Game Pass Core games announced

The second big change is that Microsoft will stop offering two games every month. To be honest, and with very few exceptions, Games with Gold have been advertised monthly for years without generating . At least, compared to free games on platforms like Epic Games or PlayStation Plus subscription games.

The good news, on the other hand, is that the new approach to the service chooses to offer access to a fixed selection of more than 25 games from Xbox Studios, Bethesda and third parties, adding two or three batches of novelties each year. And although we still don’t know if there will be Activision Blizzard games, since 19 titles have been released, the announced collection is wide, varied and forceful.

In the end, the general idea is not very different from the already retired PlayStation Plus Collection, being a welcome option for new players of Xbox consoles, as well as an additional incentive for those who buy very specific games like EA Sports FC 24, Street Fighter or Call of Duty that ask to be enjoyed online.

Logically, none of this applies to PC, where it is not possible to contract the Game Pass Core service. Among other reasons, because unlike consoles, desktop players do not need to pay to play online.

How is the Game Pass Core proposal compared to the game Pass of a lifetime. Well, that depends on whether we are interested in playing online. Being cheaper to get the Game Pass Ultimate subscription to receive both services, the game in the cloud and all the advantages of EA Play. As we discussed, the successor to Xbox Live Gold is a gateway to Game Pass.

At the price level, it should be taken into account that Microsoft started the summer by readjusting the price of the Xbox Game Pass service, going from 9.99 euros to the current 10.99 euros and, in the case of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, going to cost 14 .99 euros compared to the initial 12.99 euros.

That said, the value of the content offered and the games, all told, still makes it a very worthwhile subscription. Above all, when all the next house bombings like Starfield and Forza Motorsport will arrive at launch, and it is not necessary to buy titles like Redfall to know if we will continue playing the next day.

Will we miss Xbox Live Gold? The only thing that changes from the new plan is the two games per month with Games with Gold. And it must be recognized that maintaining what has already been claimed and the instant addition of 25 games, including many of the best of the house, play in their favor. In any case, the temptation to get hold of to play online is much greater today than yesterday.
