It has been appearing little by little in the betas and now, finally, it is beginning to be official. WhatsApp is launching its new user interface among other things, now for everyone, with the latest version recently released in the App Store. It is probably one of the most eye-catching new features of this messaging service in a long time beyond the new channels.
As WABetaInfo has warned, the most recent version and the one that implements this change is 23.21.72. The change is not mentioned in the official list of changes, but some have already noticed that the appearance of WhatsApp has changed for the better.
A more homogeneous design where green predominates
The first thing you may notice about the change is the new bottom bar in the chat list, as its icons have been tweaked and the settings icon has been replaced by your profile picture. The WhatsApp settings are still there, but now they have been renamed simply ‘You‘ in a move that seeks to imitate the settings section of our Apple ID.
The settings icons no longer have their own colors and now they are all black and white, following the same style around a predominant greener color in the rest of the elements and in their selections. The new interface also allows the iOS and Android versions of WhatsApp to become a little more similar:
The new accesses to the Privacy, Profile and Contacts sections stand out, among the most consulted by users (it would not have been bad if they also highlighted the storage section to facilitate the task of cleaning WhatsApp). The ‘News’ section with the statuses and channels we follow remain in the same place since they were launched.
The button to start a chat becomes a green circle with the ‘+’ symbol in white, and to the left you can still see a shortcut to send a quick photo to one of our contacts. Of course, all these changes They are applied in both the light and dark versions of the WhatsApp interface.
How to get the new WhatsApp interface
To have this new design of the WhatsApp interface you only have to do update the app. You can let the iPhone do it automatically, or you can force it by going to the App Store from your phone. The minimum version you must have, I insist, is 23.21.72 or a more recent one.
If you have updated WhatsApp and you still don’t see that your interface has changed, don’t worry, you haven’t done anything wrong. The new design has to propagate across all servers, so It will be a few days until everyone has it on their iPhone. You just have to be a little patient, you will notice the new design the moment it lands.
