The future of ‘Pasapalabra’ on Antena 3 is in danger. This is Mediaset’s strategy to recover the successful contest


Legal disputes continue over ‘Pasapalabra’. Since Telecinco left, the network has not raised its head and this may be its opportunity to get it back: the Supreme Court has admitted to processing the lawsuit to review the ruling that took away the successful contest.

Sentence review

In 2019, Telecinco was left without ‘Pasapalabra’ when ITV terminated its contract and the Supreme Court issued the ruling by which the group was completely prohibited from commercially exploiting the format. The contest jumped to Antena 3, where it has been broadcast successfully since then.

However, Mediaset has not given up its efforts to recover the program that gave it so much joy at the time (and that marked to a certain extent the beginning of the decline of its audiences).

The group has tried to appeal in the wake of the 2022 judicial mess around the rights of ‘El Rosco’for which the Dutch company MC&F sued Atresmedia and ITV claiming to be in possession of the copyright of the well-known test.

Finally, the Supreme Court has admitted Mediaset’s claim for processing, by which The sentence that took away their rights to the program will be reviewed and could be annulled.. Now, ITV will have to respond to the lawsuit and the Public Prosecutor’s Office will report on the review before the sentence is handed down, as reported by Expansión.
