This June 1st is a big day for Meta. Mark Zuckerberg’s firm has just announced its new virtual reality headset: the famous Meta Quest 3. This new device, sold for $499, will offer an even more advanced gaming experience, an opportunity for the group to unveil new nuggets to come.

Meta projects itself further into the video game world and presents the next titles to come on Meta Quest headsets. If some of them were already present during the PlayStation Showcase, we were still treated to some interesting novelties. The biggest licenses are exported in ever more innovative VR versions. Here are the 5 games that should not be missed.

Stranger Things VR

If you have always dreamed of discovering the universe of Stranger Things in VR but the mere prospect makes your blood run cold, this is the perfect game for you. Rather than suffer the wrath of the monsters of the Netflix program, here is your chance to become one. Following the phenomenal success of Stranger Things 4, this VR game offers us the possibility of embodying Vecna, the most dangerous antagonist of the series. It’s a good opportunity to see the story from the other side of the spectrum, or rather from behind the scenes (you have it?).

Attack On Titan VR Unbreakable

Put on your three-dimensional equipment and go hunting titan in a game larger than life. After some classic adaptations, Attack on Titan finally moves to the VR side to deliver the most faithful experience to date. Fans of the manga and anime will finally be able to experience the adrenaline and horror of this world in a first-person adventure.

The in-game thrills promise to be incredible, but might just be heart-wrenching, whether it’s the monster-repelling visuals or the infamous “motion sickness“. Attack on Titan VR Unbreakable will be available on Meta Quest this winter at an unknown date.

PowerWash Simulator VR

Fans rejoice: gamers’ favorite cleaning activity finally gets a VR version! After spending hours spraying dirt with a jet of water on consoles and PC, it will now be possible to indulge in the pleasure of PowerWash Simulator in an ever more realistic edition. Simulation games are particularly suitable for this way of playing and this unusual experience promises to keep us busy for hours.

Amigo’s Samba

Turn your controllers into maracas in Amigo’s Samba ! Definitely, SEGA takes a liking to reviving its rhythm games thanks to virtual reality. After Space Channel 5, it’s the turn of the title imaged by the Sonic Team to enjoy a well-deserved reboot. The hits of the 90s give way to pop and modern sounds for ever more elaborate maracas choreographies. If you want to work out while having fun, it’s time to find Amigo on stage for a frenzied battle.

Vampire The Masquerade Justice

The universe of the role-playing game signed World of Darkness is also exported to VR. After the battle royale Bloodhunt and the Swansong narrative game, nothing can stop this dark license where vampires reign in the shadows of our society.

And many others

Obviously, the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase was the company’s opportunity to make it a wide and varied showcase of everything the VR world has to offer. Many other titles were therefore presented even if some did not show us much new. We think in particular of Assassin’s Creed Nexus which will be revealed in more detail during the Ubisoft Forward in a few days. Here are all the other games mentioned during the showcase:

From June 4, the VR Quest 2 headset will drop by more than 20%!

It is becoming more and more accessible to seriously equip yourself with virtual reality headset.

As a direct consequence of the announcement that Meta has just made about the Quest 3, the previous models in the range have seen their prices seriously revised downwards. Well, not right away, it’s for June 4th!

Cheaper and more powerful!

Until now, the very good Quest 2 was trading for 449.99 euros in its 128 GB version and 479.99 euros for the version with 256 GB of storage space. Two prices which will therefore be reduced while before the end of the year, the Quest 3 will be sold from 499.99 dollars.

Effective from June 4, the new prices therefore place the “small” model of Quest 2 at 349.99 euros when the “big” model will only be sold for 399.99 euros. Note in passing that this is not the only good news of the day.

Indeed, Meta indicates that a CPU and GPU update for the Quest 2 and Quest Pro will significantly improve performance: it is about +26% for the CPU and +19%/+11% for the Quest GPU. 2/Quest Pro.

Meta Quest 3: the announcement would be imminent, just before Apple’s WWDC

While the tech world is finally waiting for the presentation of Apple’s first mixed reality headset, Meta could be the first to shoot with the launch of the Quest 3.

Tech has only had eyes for AI for a few months, but the trend of the metaverse essentially driven by virtual reality and more specifically Meta continues to struggle.

All eyes are on Apple’s WWDC, which opens Monday, June 5, and where the firm should finally lift the veil on its mixed reality glasses, there’s almost no doubt.

In the meantime, it is Meta that could create the surprise with the launch of Quest 3.

A grip turns the sauce up

The launch of the Meta Quest 2, or Oculus Quest 2 at the time, dates back to September 2020, almost three years ago now. Suffice to say that we are eagerly awaiting a new version of Meta’s inexpensive helmet, which has meanwhile tried its hand at the ultra high end with the Meta Quest Pro.

The Meta Quest 3 was talked about again when the journalist Mark Gurman, specialized in the Apple universe, published first impressions in his newsletter SamaGame of May 28, 2023. The journalist claims to have been able to try out a prototype of the helmet known under the code name Eureka.

According to Mark Gurman, the Meta Quest 3 is much lighter and thinner than the Quest 2 of 2020. The new helmet would use fabric rather than plastic for the attachment to the skull. The article also mentions the presence of several RGB cameras rather than the black and white cameras found on older generations. The Meta Quest 3 should also bring a big performance boost.

The most interesting with the helmet will undoubtedly be its price. The Meta Quest 2 is marketed from 449 euros in France while the Apple headset could exceed 3000 dollars.
