[HOT] : How Apple plans to overtake Facebook, Microsoft and Google

Flop of the century or worldwide success, a flagship expected for WWDC may change everything.

  • A job offer at Apple is recruiting an artificial intelligence specialist
  • The position also requires experience in virtual reality and augmented reality
  • Apple’s mixed reality headset could integrate proprietary voice assistant Siri

An advertisement published on the Apple site dedicated to recruitment is looking for a developer mastering virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence. More precisely, the required profile will have to know a lot about generative models, which is obviously reminiscent of the current success of ChatGPT and Bing AI. As a reminder, Cupertino is preparing for its part to announce its very first mixed reality headset, which should be unveiled no later than this Monday between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

It’s not the first time that Apple has tried to unearth such qualifications, but in general the company is particularly discreet when it comes to its secret projects. False confidential information would even be shared with certain employees, in an attempt to discover who shares it with the specialized press or with analysts and journalists specializing in leaks such as Ross Young, Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo.

A voice assistant in your VR headset

This job offer probably foreshadows an improvement of Siri thanks to artificial intelligence, as other upstream rumors may have suggested. The voice assistant would even be integrated into the Reality Pro, the name supposedly given to Apple’s mixed reality headset. This is enough to seriously overshadow Meta’s Quest Pro, Microsoft’s HoloLens and Google Glass, whose oral control remains quite limited today.

Other services that we already know would arrive on the rOS platform (the operating system), such as FaceTime, Weather or even TV and Messages. With this, the Digital Crown that some are already using on their Apple Watch Series 8 or on their AirPods Max wireless headphones could also be used to control the Reality Pro. More exactly, it would be a question here of rotating it to go from augmented reality to virtual reality, with an in-between for mixed reality.

Siri is still lagging

Despite everything, and it’s no secret: Siri is still a thousand of the results displayed today by the Google Assistant or by GPT-4. Hence the usefulness of this new position, which could give a serious boost to the development of a more efficient app.

pple would develop its own ChatGPT… with an idea in mind

While WWDC 2023 will take place in a few days and we expect a lot of announcements, Apple is really interested in generative artificial intelligence, on models like ChatGPT. The firm is looking for qualified engineers in this field, who could also work on mixed reality.

On June 5, 2023, WWDC 23 will be held, an Apple keynote dedicated to developers, but which is often the occasion for important announcements. If we do not expect announcements around artificial intelligence, it is above all the Apple Glass that makes the hype. However, Apple is interested in generative AI as well as conversational AI like ChatGPT and we have proof of this, since the company is recruiting expert engineers.

Are you an expert AI engineer? Apple needs you

He is the journalist SamaGame Mark Gurman, very knowledgeable about Apple’s projects, who spotted a job advertisement posted on the company’s website. We learn that ” Apple’s Learning Technology Group is looking for Machine Learning Engineers with experience and/or interest in Conversational and Generative AI! ” This includes ” the design and implementation of innovative AI models and algorithms “.

But that’s not all, Apple specifies that these engineers will develop expertise in augmented and virtual reality, also known as mixed reality. This could imply that Apple would like to integrate generative artificial intelligence (including text) into mixed reality products and/or applications.

A surprise that isn’t really a surprise

However, this is not really a surprise. If Apple is looking for computer development engineers to work on artificial intelligence, it may also be because the firm has no choice. Since the start of the year, we have witnessed a kind of ” AI race to which all gamam take part. Also, Apple would have organized a kind of secret WWDC internally in February to inform its employees of its plans in relation to artificial intelligence.

he challenge for Apple is to stay at the forefront of technology, trends and uses. A priori, the generative AI of images and / or text is the next innovation that could impose itself worldwide. To not depend on anyone, Apple must develop its own models and tools. In the immediate term, we can think that the development of a language model could allow Siri to greatly improve, especially compared to other voice assistants. Especially since the latter would be mocked internally precisely because of his delay.

This malware steals passwords for Google, Apple, Facebook and PayPal accounts

A dangerous malware is currently trying to steal the passwords of your Google, Apple, Facebook or PayPal accounts. Spotted by Proofpoint, CopperStealer malware lurks on illegal download and piracy sites. To combat the spread of the virus, the cybersecurity firm has partnered with Facebook and Cloudflare,

Proofpoint cybersecurity researchers recently discovered traces of new malware. baptized CopperStealer, this malware is designed to steal the passwords and logins of its victims. It targets a multitude of different online services, including social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.), Google, Apple, PayPal, Bing and Amazon.

“Our investigation showed that the malware is primarily designed to steal passwords and cookies, but is also capable of installing malware after recovering data” explains Proofpoint in its report. Experts believe that the software is part of the Chinese malware family called SilentFade. This family of viruses is thought to be responsible for the hacking of several thousand Facebook accounts over the past few years.

COPPERSTEALER MALWARE TARGETS CHROME, EDGE AND FIREFOX

The malware mainly attacks to users of the following web browsers : Chrome, Edge, Yandex, Opera and Firefox. After thorough investigation, Proofpoint discovered traces of CopperStealer on several sites allowing to download pirated software, such as keygenninja(.)com, piratewares(.)com, startcrack(.)com and crackheap(.)net. Hackers are visibly pushing their malware through platforms of this ilk. Most of the malware victims reside in the following countries: India, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan and the Philippines.

To stem the spread of CopperStealer, Proofpoint has coordinated with Facebook and Cloudflare. The latter has set up a warning web page on the domain names where the virus has been spotted. This measure aims to dissuade Internet users from entering the site. Combined with other measures, this action has reduced the scope of the virus. According to Proofpoint, CopperStealer is no longer present on most of the sites mentioned above.
