Best Classes at Lunacid

A sick civilization has grown like a wild fire, a parasite spreading deep within the Great Pit. As Earth fell victim to a severe poisoning, the damage lingering for an eternity, the world as we knew it would never be the same. Those deemed sick and undesirable were thrown into the well in an attempt to rid the world of its evil. From petty thieves to bloodthirsty killers, the well has grown in population, housing all criminals. In his bottomless pit lies the sleeping old man, his identity unknown but his great powers. Your task is to continue the journey forward as the spherical walls enclosing you were impassable from below. In this Dungeon Crawling game, paying homage to FromSoftware’s King’s Field, here’s Vincent’s guide to the best classes to use in Lunacid.

Lunacid is one of those undiscovered gems on Steam. Priced at $6.99 for its Early Access state, Lunacid brings back that iconic retro feel with its Dungeon Crawler. Drawing inspiration from FromSoftware’s early works Shadow Tower and King’s Field, Lunacid attempts to fill that nostalgic void with excellent level design, creatures, combat, and that flawless old-school feel. But maybe I’m just biased for this era of PlayStation 1/2 video games. Either way, if you’re looking for something to fill that hole in your stomach after beating Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 for the tenth time, Lunacid is for you.

What are classes in Lunacid?

Unlike what we typically see with more modern FromSoftware entries such as Elden Ring and Dark Souls, classes are primarily used to determine your starting stats. However, in Lunacid you get a unique ability depending on who you choose. As always, when choosing a class, you’ll want to think about what type of build you want to work on so your upgrade can go towards wielding specific weapons or dealing higher damage as a magic user. Lunacid works just like that, with the added twist of an ability. If you’re someone who wants to go for a strength boost or opt for dexterity or faith instead, these are all viable options for your game. Most balanced class which in this case is the Rogue Class in Lunacid. It almost acts like a canon class in that the opening cutscene casts you (the protagonist) as an ordinary thief.

Lunacid’s thief class gives players the ability to find treasure more easily than other chosen classes. With a very balanced base stat of 5 at all levels. Another incredibly important stat is the health you start with. You will notice that some are much smaller than others, like the 100 from the thief to the 220 from the knight. Much like Dark Souls 3, each class also starts at a different level. The classes available in Lunacid are:

  • Knight – High resistance and defense but low speed. Excels in combat (220 HP).
  • Thief – Excellent for finding treasures (100 HP).
  • Witch – High intelligence for magic constructs (85 HP).
  • Vampire – Health regeneration of enemies losing blood but weak to fire (155 HP).
  • Undead – Good resistance and very resistant to the elements (160 HP).
  • Royal – Good stats for speed, dexterity and intelligence but low on strength (105 HP).
  • Cleric – More intelligence for magic constructs than Witch (160 HP).
  • shinobi – Excellent stats for speed, strength and dexterity (145 HP).
  • The abandoned – Lunacid hard mode, base stats 1 at all levels (20 HP).

What classes should you use?

What souls-type games have taught us, including Dark Souls itself, is that your HP doesn’t particularly matter in context to beating the game. Many of the best builds focus on specific attributes rather than increasing your stamina. Souls-likes require skill to master and defeat them, in addition to learning the Boss’ moveset and using it to your advantage. Most souls-type games implement combat that is more about mastering dodging or parrying mechanics. But in Lunacid, classes don’t matter as much as you might initially think. While you choose the type of character you would like to run through the Great Well, the the real differences are in their passive ability and starting items. Classes such as Knight and Witch have healing potions while others such as Thief, Vampire and Undead provide a unique in-game ability that can be used throughout.

Because of this, who you choose is more determined by what you get at the start of the game, or their unique skill that can be used throughout. Base stats are irrelevant as KIRA offers players the ability to allocate a ton of points for your build with each level up.. Therefore, to choose the best possible class in Lunacid, we recommend using the following classes:

Our best class in Lunacid is the Vampire, for its ability to replenish HP if your enemy bleeds out in battle. Next, we recommend the Knight due to its strength and starting healing items. If you’re looking for a magical build, we recommend the Witch for her starter items, and for those who want to explore on your own, the Undead is for you. Remember that whatever you choose you will be able to allocate a ton of points for your build, so base your choice more on whether you want Strength, Faith or Dexterity as your build and go from there.
