It may take over a year, but it’s never too early to get excited about Call of Duty 2024 (which we think will be called Black Ops 5 or Black Ops Gulf War). We don’t have much official information yet, but we already have some leaks.
Are you a fan of Infinity Ward or the Treyarch genre? Based on your answer to this question, we can probably already tell what type of CoD player you are (and no, we don’t think anyone is truly a Sledgehammer fan).
Now, Infinity Ward fans have had a great meal over the past two years, because with MW2 and MW3, they’ve effectively had two IW games in a row. But, in 2024 it will be time for Treyarch to take over the reins with Black Ops Gulf War / BO5 (the name is not yet confirmed).

CoD 2024 release date
We don’t have an official release date for CoD 2024. yet, but Activision has been following the exact same schedule for so many years that it’s almost certainly going to look like this:
- May 31 – June 72024: Black Ops Gulf War Alpha (exclusively for Content Creators and CDL Pros)
- October 4 – October 72024: Black Ops Gulf War Beta Weekend 1 (PS4/PS5)
- October 11 – October 142024: Black Ops Gulf War Beta Weekend 2 (All platforms)
- November, 1st2024: Black Ops Gulf War Early Campaign Access
- November 82024: Black Ops Gulf War Full version

CoD 2024 Theme and Framework
As you may have already guessed, Call of Duty 2024 will be set during the Gulf War. If you are unfamiliar with the Gulf War, we are talking about Kuwait in 1990-1991.
Dozens of leaks revealed this setting, and it was still somewhat predictable after BOCW. Here’s how our favorite leaker shared the news:

Ralph isn’t the most active backer, but what he says is almost always correct. Additionally, we have heard of the Gulf War background from many, many other sources at this point, so we strongly believe that.
In terms of art style, we don’t have any specific leaks, although we think you should expect it to be similar to BOCW; while retaining the dynamism we’ve come to expect from Treyarch, but not to the almost cartoonish extent of Black Ops 3, for example.
CoD game 2024
Before we talk about gameplay leaks, we want to be very clear: NOTone of the leakers with serious credibility spoke about gameplay, and so we’d classify the following information as mere “rumor”. But if you’re still curious, they basically described it as slow BOCW: high-TTK and slide/dolphin-diving, but very little Tac Sprint,

This is a CoD field boots from Treyarch. If you’ve been in the franchise long enough, you can probably imagine how it plays out. But we’ll keep updating this page with leaks if new gameplay details emerge.
CoD 2024 Platforms
The Activision-Microsoft deal could be finalized by release, but even if it is, Microsoft has guaranteed PlayStation users they will still get CoD. We also know that Nintendo consoles just aren’t powerful enough to run modern Call of Duty games. We can therefore assume that Call of Duty 2024 will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
There is a small chance the game will be released on older gen consoles as well, although last time Call of Duty was released on a cross-gen which only lasted 3 years (Ghosts, AW, BO3) , and so we expect the last cross-gen title of this generation to be MW3, not CoD 2024.
