FIFA 23 career mode cannot be saved: what to do?

How to save in FIFA 23 Career Mode? What can you do if your career doesn’t save or always loads the wrong save file? This may be what one or two players have asked in the last few days who have bought the new FIFA offshoot for the PC or console. The problem is that neither the career itself nor other settings such as the camera settings are saved. The question arises, how can you fix the problem?

FIFA 23 doesn’t save: what to do?

According to current information, the “saving” problem in FIFA 23 probably only affects PC players and mainly those players who play with a PS4 or PS5 controller. According to reports, the problem with the save game appears more often when you start FIFA 23 with one or two controllers connected. It doesn’t matter whether you have connected the DualShock 4 or the DualSense controller to the PC via a USB cable or wirelessly via Bluetooth. If you remove the controller before starting the game, saving or more precisely loading the game from career mode seems to work without any problems. You can then of course connect the controller again.

It is still unclear what a connected controller has to do with the saving process, but this seems to be the cause if you look at the numerous reports in the Check out the linked forum thread. FIFA 23 probably recognizes different controllers and then automatically loads different save games.

Problems with DS4Windows?

We use the PS5 controller in conjunction with the DS4Windows program in FIFA 23 on the PC. Here, too, there seem to be increasing problems with saving or loading the correct game state in the career. In our case the game was saved, but when switching to career mode a different save game was always loaded. We were able to fix the “problem” by simply manually loading the other save game (main menu and load another save game under Continue Career).

As soon as there is more information about the “saving” problem in FIFA 23, we will of course add it here. Until then, the “workarounds” should help for now. The problem will probably be fixed in future updates.
