Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth could have its first female protagonist with an LGBTQ+ background

The Yakuza or “Like a Dragon” series has been very inclusive in the past and offered lots of side quests with positive views on different ___ualities and backgrounds. The series’ long-standing protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, has undoubtedly often made an effort to support the marginalized and oppressed.

However, the representation of the LGBTQ+ community fell somewhat by the wayside. A circumstance that relates to the upcoming Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth could now change. A short clip A new video from Noisy Pixel suggests that Geomijul leader and new party member Seonhee could be bi___ual or lesbian.

In the scene in question, Seonhee appears to reprimand Nanba and Kiryu for not knowing that “women look at other women too” and that she herself “would be there in a heartbeat.” This single sentence is not a direct confirmation, as the series likes to skirt around the topic at times. But it’s enough to convince fans that developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios has made Seonhee the series’ first protagonist who is part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Of course, there’s always a chance that fans will misinterpret the whole situation as Seonhee simply putting herself in the shoes of another person who is either bi___ual or lesbian. We don’t see the overall context of the scene here. Well, we don’t have to wait much longer until we know more.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released worldwide on January 26, 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PCs.
