Fortnite fans were surprised when a giant fiery fist emerged from the ground near Ruined Reels Saturday, March 2, 2024. This is the latest in a series of trailers that give us a sneak peek at what we can expect when Chapter 5: Season 2 begins.
Why is there a big hand in Fortnite?
The giant hand that appeared on the Fortnite map is trailer for Chapter 5: Season 2, which is widely rumored to have a Greek mythology theme.
In his hand he holds a chest that is probably Pandora’s Box, an iconic object in Greek mythology that the gods have filled with evil, disease and hardship – so I can only imagine what will be unleashed on the island if it is ever opened (which, let’s face it, probably it will happen).
Epic Games has been teasing this topic for some time now. Recently, a new NPC called Odyssey has arrived on the island and his task is to collect the mosaic fragments. The last photo shows Cerberus, the three-headed dog from – yes, you guessed it – Greek mythology.
It’s pretty clear that we’re returning to Ancient Greece in Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 2, which is scheduled to start around March 8, so the only thing we can do now is wait and see what’s in Pandora’s box.
Right now, the chains connecting the big hand to Pandora’s Box have quite a large health bar, so players everywhere will have to put down their weapons and band together to smash it with their pickaxes.
Before that happens, there’s still time to complete all weekly challenges and unlock all skins in the current season’s Battle Pass. I just unlocked the Surfin’ Bird emote and I’ve been insufferable ever since.
