“The volume has been lowered”, how to avoid this automatic adjustment of the iPhone

In iOS 14 Apple has implemented a new fit to protect our ears in case we use a Bluetooth headset. If the sound is too loud, the iPhone volume will be lowered by itself automatically to prevent hearing damage.

When this setting is activated, if the iPhone detects a sound intensity that exceeds the marked limits, will automatically reduce the volume of what is playing.

The volume has been lowered. Based on your use of the headphones in the last seven days, the volume has been lowered to protect your hearing.

It is certainly an interesting adjustment that can help us with the health of our ears, the problem is that sometimes iOS confuses the Bluetooth device and also lower the volume when the iPhone is connected to speakers or a car. If this is your case, this is how you can fix it.

Why does the volume on my iPhone turn down by itself?

It’s all due to this new setting. This option is within the iPhone settings, and we can disable it or set it at different levels of sound intensity to increase the volume of the iPhone. To do this you must follow these steps:

  • Enter the Settings of your device.
  • Locate the section Sounds and vibrations and enter it.
  • You will see a section called Headphone Safety.
  • Inside you can enable or disable the option Reduce loud sounds.
  • If you activate it, you can choose dB level you want to mark as a limit.

If the iPhone volume is low when using wireless headphones, this is probably the cause. It is one of the new health functions that have been incorporated into iOS 14. In the Health app we can see a detailed graph of the dB levels that we have suffered when we have the headphones on.

In case the levels are excessive for 7 days, iPhone will automatically lower the volume to protect us.

Health will control the volume of the headphones

It is a setting that we recommend having activatedAlthough if you have had problems connecting to other Bluetooth devices than headphones, you may prefer to disable it.
