In “Mass Effect” you can re-import a Commander Shepard with whom you completed the game to play a second run-through with all of the items, experience, and credits you accumulated on your first full run-through. When you do this, you cannot make any changes to the character. This includes physical appearance as well as skills or Shepard’s class. If you choose to import this character into “Mass Effect 2,” however, you will be given the opportunity to make changes to Shepard’s appearance and physical class. You can also use a saved game editor to make changes to a character imported from “Mass Effect 1.”

Importing a character to Mass Effect 2

1 Create a Save Game file after completing the first game.

2 Open “Mass Effect 2” and select “New Game”.

3 Select “Import ME 1 Character” and select base set options.

4 Select “Custom Appearance” after the intro video games. This will take you to the character building screen.

Using a Save Game Editor

5 Download Save Keyed Game Editor and extract the files.

6 Open the desired save game by double clicking on the “folder” icon and browsing to the desired save file (usually “documents BioWare Mass Effect 2 save) in the folder with name, class and level of the desired character.

7 Open the “Raw” tab and expand the “2. Squad ”,“ Player ”,“ Appearance ”and“ Morph Head. ”

8 Replace the information in the “Mesh Hair” field with the code for the desired hair style. The code will look something like “BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.LowBun.HMF_HIR_Mbu_MDL”.

9 Click “Texture Settings,” then click the “Ellipses” icon that appears to the right of the word “Collection”. A new pop up window.

10.Replace the texture code entries with the texture codes corresponding to your new hair style. Usually these will be similar to the code you used in the “Mesh Hair” field. For example, “BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.MidBun.HMF_HIR_Mbn_Diff” and “BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.MidBun.HMF_HIR_Mbn_Norm”. The texture codes you need to change depend on the hair you had previously and the style you are trying to change it for.

11 Click on the “floppy” icon to save your changes. You will be prompted to enter a saved game name. Saved games must follow the naming conventions that the program uses or you will not be able to open them in the game.

Tips and Warnings

  • To find all the texture codes you need for your new hair style, start a new game and create a character with the hairstyle you want. Save the game as soon as possible, then load that saved game into the Save Game Editor. Find and copy the texture codes for your desired hair style.
  • Using a save game editor can corrupt your saved games. Always make a backup of your saved game file before making any changes.

How to Apologize to Jack in “Mass Effect“

Jack is a moody criminal who joins your team in “Mass Effect 2.” After completing Jack and Miranda’s Loyalty Missions, they get into an argument over the ship Normandy. If your renegade or paragon’s ability isn’t high enough, you need to take a side. Take the side of Miranda angers Jack, forcing you to find a way to apologize.

Instructions

1 Complete missions around the game world, which missions usually give you paragon and renegade options. Focus on either renegade or paragon choices. Stick to one or the other or you won’t be able to lift either enough. Complete missions until either your model or renegade bar is full.

2 Obtain armor and equipment that increase your negotiation skills. Wear the Death Mask and Collector’s Armor, both of which can add to your negotiation skills.

3 Find Jack in the Normandy ship. Go to the elevator and take it to the engineering platform. Go down the metal stairs under Tali and the other engineers to find Jack.

4 Talk to Jack. Choose either the Paragon Apologies or Renegade apologies, depending on the boosted assign you.
