Teleworking was one of the main labor phenomena of 2020 and 2021. As a result of the expansion of COVID-19 and its subsequent confinement, many companies opted for this option to ensure that their employees fulfilled their duties. However, the return to normality has brought with it an apparent rejection to this modality and, therefore, many companies such as Meta, Amazon and Google have chosen to say goodbye to this option so that their employees return to the offices.
Thus, there are some cases of people who have not agreed with this decision and, consequently, have chosen to abandon their companies and redirect their lives. However, this is not very common, since currently some companies still offer the possibility of telework to carry out their work from any corner of the world. But, unfortunately for the protagonist of today’s story, that is not the case for her even though the company that hired her promised it to her.
His boss assured him that he could telework and then they denied him this possibility
As the protagonist of the story related through a Reddit post, it all started when she became interested in the job offered by a local company. According to what she indicates, on that occasion they assured that there was the possibility of teleworking “unless it was necessary to go to the office”, a condition that seduced him when applying for the job. Thus, he passed the relevant interviews and even exchanged messages with his boss, but the situation changed when he had to join his new job.
As she herself indicates, although the offer indicated that she could telework unless necessary, the reality is that “I had to go to the office every day”. In fact, he shared screenshots in which it is seen that his boss talks to him about the possibility of teleworking and, he even assures that he never goes to the office and that he only does it so that the employees “leave written papers on the table”. For this reason, the protagonist of the story was dissatisfied with the situation, since she considers that reality did not fit the offer. Be that as it may, her boss’s situation was reminiscent of another who asked his employees to return to the office so they could enjoy the meal.
