Videoland has become a household name in the Netherlands since 2014. In addition to Netflix, this is one of the major streaming services in the Netherlands. In 2018 Videoland launched the new series Mocro Maffia on the streaming service. The series premiered on Videoland in October 2018 and is inspired by the story of Wouter Lamans and Marijn Schrijver. The story revolves around writer Rein de Waard (played by Daan Schuurmans) who has a terminally ill wife named Sanne (played by Anniek Pheifer). Writer Rein de Waard has written a book about De Neus. Now he and trainee writer Matthijs Harderwijk (played by Jim Deddes) are writing a story about the Mocro Mafia.
Romano Tevreden (played by Mandela Wee Wee) has a thriving drug empire in the cocaine trade. Jaouad also known as De Paus ( played by Achmed Akkabi ) had a fight with Romano Tevreden and started his own business. Romano Tevreden teams up with Gauki aka Pencil (played by Nasrdin Dchar). When a robbery goes wrong from the organization of De Pope and two of his men are killed, De Pope takes revenge and kills Potlood’s wife (who is also pregnant) and the war between the two groups in the Amsterdam underworld is over. started.
The acting of the players in this series is very strong from the little ones to the big ones they play the stars of heaven. It is also a nice setup for younger actors to move up in the movie/series world. In this series you will encounter many big names from the Dutch film world and also many meaningless names, but we will see a lot of them. Think of the well-known names: Achmed Akkabi, Daan Schuurmans and Robert De Hoog (known from Nova Zembla). The supporting roles are also reserved for well-known and lesser-known actors, but as I said before, you don’t see anything from the fact that they are just starting out.
The creators of the series are also both well-known actors, one also has a role in the series that is Achmed Akkabi and the other is actor, screenwriter and producer Thijs Römer.
Season 1 of the series has also already won an award. The prize is: the Hashtag award for Best Video on Demand.
Actor Oussama Ahammoud was also nominated for a Golden Calf in the Best Actor Television Drama category.
