‘Napoleon’ announces its streaming premiere after failing in theaters: Ridley Scott’s epic redemption confirms its first landing on Apple TV

The film ‘Napoleon’, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix, hit theaters last November. And although it was initially intended to be one of the biggest releases of the year, the truth is that it received criticism. Knowing that it would be a movie that would be seen later exclusively on Apple TV+there has been a lot of interest in knowing the dates and it seems that there is already a glimpse of its first arrival.

Indeed, Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to watch ‘Napoleón’ with the price of the subscription. However, there is no confirmed date for this, although there is for its provision on purchase and rental platforms of movies. And it will also be starting next week.

‘Napoleon’ arrives on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and more on Tuesday… but paying

Although the broadcasts of ‘Napoleon’ will continue in thousands of movie theaters around the world, you will no longer have to go to one of them to see it. As confirmed by the specialized media When To Stream, the feature film will be Available for purchase or rental next Tuesday, January 9. And not only on Apple TV.

‘Napoleón’ can be bought and rented through the multiple usual platforms. The best known are Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. And be careful, “Apple TV” should not be confused with “Apple TV+”. The second term refers to the company’s streaming platform, which is integrated into the first term (the ‘Apple TV’ app). In this app we can also find content from other platforms to which we are subscribed and also for purchase and rental, as will be the case with ‘Napoleón’.

According to the aforementioned source of this information, the film will be available next week in that form in the United States. Not confirmed When will it make its debut in Spain and other countries, but hopefully it won’t take more than a few days or weeks. In fact, it is not ruled out that it may also be available that same day in our country. From SamaGame we have contacted those involved and they have not been able to confirm the information.

The definitive arrival to Apple TV+ already seems imminent

The roadmap for ‘Napoleón’ was clear from the beginning: premiere in theaters, arrival on purchase/rental platforms and exclusive and “free” availability on Apple TV+. We put “free” in quotes because, although it will be included with the rest of the Apple TV+ content without having to purchase it independently, it will require paying a subscription to the platform. The point is that we are now in the second phase of that roadmap.

In the audiovisual area there are no set deadlines that demonstrate that the same deadline is always followed for everything. However, we do observe that in general the times are quite similar. According to what has been seen with other content and other platforms, It is likely that it will be in February when ‘Napoleon’ arrives on Apple TV+.

This will be the ideal moment for subscribers who did not see it in theaters to be able to watch it quietly from the couch at home without spending a euro more than what they already pay for Apple TV+ (also for those who want to see it again). We also remember that an extended version is expected of the film with scenes and comments from the director that are not in cinema screenings and that do not seem to be available if the film is rented or purchased.

We already warned that the film as such has received criticism, mainly for its lack of historical rigor, although there are also positive reviews and even experts who, regardless of the historical licenses, comment that it is enjoyable. If you haven’t seen them, you have less left to have an opinion about it.
