Ramdump issue affects Asus Zenfone 8 and ROG Phone 5

Many users are using Asus forums and the internet to reveal that they are having ramdump problem on Asus Zenfone 8 and ROG Phone 5.

People reveal that there is no pattern for the problem to arise, you can be playing games, using apps and even without the phones being in use.

Affected devices simply show a black screen with many items written, in green we have the message “Waiting for flashing full ramdump”, which means the phone is waiting for the full ramdump to be placed on the device.

When this message appears, some users can still revive the phone by holding both the power and volume buttons at the same time, but you have to hold it for a long time, until the bootloader screen appears completely.

In other cases, people have been unlucky to solve the ramdump issue on Zenfone 8 and ROG Phone 5.

The solution for most who find this defect is to contact Asus assistance, but to everyone’s surprise, the manufacturer’s solution to this problem is to change the device’s motherboard, a piece that alone, often has practically the price of a new phone if the device is not covered under warranty.

In recent months complaints have started to increase about the problem, Asus has already commented on the case, check it out:

“The company is aware of the issue and is currently monitoring its prevalence on a global scale. At least so far, it has only affected a very small portion of devices, and the frequency of occurrence may seem higher than it actually is in an active forum thread for which Asus offers an open Zentalk platform.

According to Asus, the ramdump/debug mode is not the cause of the crash, but a consequence, which in turn can be a symptom of many different failures, such as a charging circuit problem, a motherboard failure, or some other random failure. In many similar situations, phones from many other manufacturers get stuck in a black screen, boot or logo scene, while Asus phones display this ramdup/debug mode.

All users with a valid warranty and no obvious external damage to the phone are entitled to warranty service for the issue. Asus promises to fix this issue on devices with a maximum service time of 5 days + delivery time. If a problem occurs, it is recommended that the customer contact their local Asus support/service.”
