How to fix PS4 error SU-30634-6

Solution 1. Use the correct firmware

“PS4 error SU-30634-6” can be due to three reasons:

  • Corrupted USB flash drive
  • Corrupted firmware file
  • Wrong firmware file
  • To fix it, you may want to follow the instructions. If you are using the original hard drive, use option 1. If you are using a new hard drive, use option 2.

    Option 1. Original Hard Drive

  • Go to this site https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/ps4-system-software/.
  • Then click “DOWNLOAD NOW” to download the firmware.
  • Format the USB flash drive to Fat or exFAT.
  • Copy the firmware to your USB flash drive. The folder should say PS4, the following folder will update and paste the firmware PS4UPDATE.PUP (all caps).
  • Turn on your PS4, turn it off and unplug it for at least three minutes.
  • Insert the USB flash drive to your PS4.
  • Activate it and update the firmware.
  • If it fails, try to use another USB flash drive, also try to download the firmware again.
  • Option 2. Replace the hard drive

  • Open this site.
  • Scroll down and click “Perform a fresh installation of system software” to expand it.
  • Download the firmware by clicking “DOWNLOAD NOW”.
  • Format the USB flash drive to Fat or exFAT.
  • Create a folder on the USB flash drive.
  • Rename the PS4 folder. Inside the PS4 folder, create another folder and rename it UPDATE.
  • Next, copy and paste the downloaded firmware and name it PS4UPDATE.PUP.
  • Plug the USB flash drive into the PS4 and apply the update.
