What is the difference between serial and model number?

There are clear differences between serial and model numbers. The serial number is usually abbreviated to “SN” or “S/N” and is assigned individually for your copy of a product. Identical televisions therefore have different serial numbers. In this way, the tracking of your device can be guaranteed.

The model number, on the other hand, is assigned to televisions that have exactly the same model from a manufacturer. These devices all have the same construction, which is why you can get the most important information from them. Properties such as the country of manufacture, the size and the year of publication can be derived from this.

Where can you find the serial and model number?

There are a number of ways to find the serial and model number of your Hisense TV. We give you a brief overview:

Check the original packaging

After purchasing your Smart TV, it is advisable to take a photo of the original packaging and then save it in a cloud service. This way you don’t have to keep the packaging all the time and you still have the information sheet at hand when there is a repair or a customer service request.

On the back of your TV

It’s also a good idea to look for the model and serial number directly on the back of your TV if you’ve thrown away your original packaging. In the example “65U77HQ” the “U” stands for Europe. In other cases, there may be an “H” directly after the size, which means your TV is intended for sale in the US. With a “P” the Hisense TV is for Australia, with a “J” for Japan and with an “E” for China.

TV series and TV model

The first “7” in your model number represents the TV series your Hisense Smart TV is from. The second “7” also tells you the TV model. With OLED televisions, it can happen that this component is missing entirely.

Year of manufacture and year of sale

The next component of your model number relates to the year your TV was built and sold. The letter “H” stands for 2021/22. If you have a “G” it means 2020/21. So it goes down to “A” which stands for 2014/15.

design

At the end of the model number is the assignment to the draft design, such as a “Q” in this example. For some models, on the other hand, the year of development comes at the very end.

What is the difference between serial and model number?

There are clear differences between a serial number and a model number. The serial number is usually abbreviated to “S/N” or “SN” and identifies exactly one item of a product. Two otherwise identical televisions have different serial numbers. In this way, the respective manufacturer can guarantee the traceability of your device.

The model number, on the other hand, generally refers to the model of your Philips TV and is assigned to all products with exactly this design. It gives you the most important information and shows the characteristics of your device, including country of manufacture, size and year of release.

Where can you find the serial and model number?

You can read the serial and model number of your Philips television on the back of your device. There you will find a label on which you can read the exact information about your television. However, if your TV is mounted on a wall and the tag is missing or just illegible, there are other ways to find out the serial and model number.

Instead, you can look at the original packaging and the user manual of your Philips TV. After you have bought the TV, you should keep an information sheet from the manufacturer.     You should note that your television can have very different operating systems, such as Android or Roku. On a Philips OS Android TV, start by pressing the home button on your remote control. Then click on the “Help” option at the bottom of the screen and confirm this with “OK”.

What does the model number mean?

Type of digital tuner

The “S” that follows provides information about the digital tuner, in this case it is a DVB – T/T2/C/S/S2 type. Depending on the country of origin, there are different applicable standards for digital tuners in televisions. For example, the standard in the USA is ATSC, while in Europe it is DVB.

Series, model, and design

The other digits of your model number refer to the series “7”, to the model of the series “3” and to the draft design “3”. This information gives more precise indications of the equipment, but is of secondary importance for you as a buyer. They usually only serve as a guide for the manufacturer and to trace your television model.

Construction year

The last number “4” refers to the year of manufacture of your TV, in this case 2019. From “0” upwards, the years 2015/2025 are counted up, so the “1” stands for 2016/2026 etc. With this double meaning for the years there are clear differences.

You can compare the “7” for 2012 and for 2022 by the fact that there were no 4K televisions in 2012, for example, but instead Full HD screens. Depending on the progress of development, you can precisely classify the model number of your television.

The last two digits refer to the region where your TV is sold. “60” stands for Russia, “12” for Europe, “F7” for USA and Canada, “F8” for Mexico, “78” for Brazil, “77” for Argentina and “79” for Australia.

Special feature of Philips models from 2012

There is a special regulation regarding the model number of Philips television models, since the manufacturer has not produced any televisions itself since 2012. However, the manufacturer kept the model numbers of the devices even after the brand was licensed. If you bought a Philips TV before 2012, it is not a licensed device, but a “real” one that is still from Philips production.

In Baldur’s Gate 3 you can knock your enemies unconscious and then interrogate them, but no one tells you.

Baldur’s Gate 3 hides many mechanics that not a few players are unaware of. Since the game is so big and explains so few things, it is very normal for dozens of options to come up. Many of them would have to appear along with explanations, while others of them it is logical that they remain hidden and only appear when we pull our wits. The one to render our enemies unconscious should not be one of them.

Indeed, the Larian Studios title has brought back a Dungeons and Dragons mechanic called non-lethal damage. As its name indicates, with this we are able to attack our enemies in such a way that they do not die. Hence its name. Unfortunately, nothing and no one tells us that it exists, so it is very normal that we do not even know of its existence. And that’s a shame, because it opens up a lot of possibilities in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
