Voicemail on iPhone, how to save them?

iPhone’s visual voicemail is more than just a gimmick, it’s a great management tool. It allows easy access to your voice messages (the messages from your answering machine) and their administration in an efficient and simplified way.

With this feature, there are no more long and tedious steps of dialing a number and then navigating through a maze of voice menus to listen to your answering machine. The iPhone, with its visual voicemail, was a game-changer, transforming the way we interact with our voicemails.

But the real advantage of this feature lies in the possibility it gives to save your important voice messages. A precious phone call from loved ones, a crucial work message, a voice note you don’t want to get rid of – all of these moments can be saved on your iPhone. And the best part of it all? You only need a few steps to do this.

In case visual voicemail is enabled on your iPhone, follow these steps:

Step 1 : To record a voicemail on iPhone, open the Phone app and choose the Messaging tab in the lower right corner. You should see a list of your voicemail messages.

2nd step : Find the message you want to save and tap it. A pop-up window will then open with several controls, including a play button, speaker icon, and phone button.

Step 3: At the top right, you will see a share button (a box with an up arrow coming out of it). Touch it to bring up the sharing sheet and see all the possibilities for recording or sharing your voicemail.

Step 4: To save the voicemail locally on your iPhone, select “Save to Files” then “On my iPhone”. Choose a folder where you want to save the voicemail and click “Save” in the top right.

You can also save the voicemail directly to an online storage service like iCloud. To do this, choose the “Save to Files” option from the Share menu and select iCloud Drive or Google Drive from the list of storage locations.

If you want to export voicemails to your Mac or iPad, you can use AirDrop. From the Share menu, tap the AirDrop icon and choose your Mac or iPad. Make sure the receiving device has AirDrop set to “Contacts Only”. The file will be transferred instantly and saved in the Downloads folder of the receiving device.

Remember that this solution only works if your carrier supports visual voicemail. If you can see a list of voicemail messages when you open the Voicemail tab, your carrier supports this feature. However, if your carrier requires dialing or other methods to access your messages, this method will not work.

In the event that your operator or your plan does not give you access to visual messaging, you will have to be a bit tricky!

Indeed, we will use screen recording to save and share a voice message on iPhone. This is a great workaround if you can’t use the first solution. You can also use this method if you want to capture additional information along with the voicemail content, such as caller ID and timestamp.

Step 1 : To record a voicemail on iPhone, use the Screen Recorder. First, swipe down to bring up Control Center and tap the Screen Recording button (the big dot in a circle).

If you don’t see the button, go to Settings > Control Center > Other Controls and add the screen recording button by clicking the green + icon.

Also, make sure you have enabled the microphone in the screen recording settings, otherwise your recording will have no sound.

To enable sound with the screen recorder, press and hold the screen recording enable button and click the ‘Mic’ icon at the bottom so that it turns red and displays ‘yes’.

2nd step : Go to the Phone app, play the voicemail through the speaker, and let the screen recording do its job.

Step 3: Tap the Screen Recording button when you’re done to save the recording. The screen recording will be saved in the Photos app.

After exporting your voicemails to your iPhone, it is advisable to back them up to a cloud storage service like iCloud or Google Drive. This will make it easy to access your messages from other devices, and you won’t have to worry about losing them if your iPhone is lost or reset.
