It all started when Helldiver 2 player GantzTheDemon decided to betray his comrades. They would join a mission, stay until extraction, then kill everyone on their team. This upset affected players so much that they decided to share the video online to warn other divers about the inferno, and quickly spread that this was what the player was doing on various social media channels.

It wasn’t long before there was a game-wide hunt for GantzTheDemon. Online players were initially confused as to whether this was a real thing that was actually happening or a joke. But soon after, they started collaborating, discussing their current location, attacking him, and killing him on sight. What began as the participation of a bad-faith player became a manhunt unlike anything seen before. And what is more beautiful than that? A whole community comes together and works together and shows what cooperative gaming is all about.
