A Comprehensive Guide to Removing Bing Search from Windows 11 and 10

Microsoft’s ongoing effort to improve Bing with Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities is admirable, but some users find Bing’s incorporation into every Windows component vexing. Bing is ready to help whenever you enter Windows Search or the Start menu, albeit this doesn’t necessarily boost local searches. In reality, it frequently leads to a slower search procedure. Add to that Bing services’ consistent use of RAM and CPU, and it’s easy to see why customers might want to uninstall Bing Search from Windows 11 and 10. This post will walk you through the process step by step.

Turning off Bing Cloud Search on Windows 11 and 10

Start Windows Search and click the three-dot menu next to the Bing icon.

Select “Search settings”.

Disable the “Microsoft account” and “Work or School account” toggles under “Cloud content search.” This will prevent your search results from being personalized with web content.

Using the Registry Editor to remove Bing Search from Windows 11 and 10

To begin, press the Windows key once and type “registry” into the search box. Continue by launching the Registry Editor.

After that, copy and paste the following path into the Registry’s address bar, then press Enter: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

Right-click “Explorer” and then choose New -> DWORD (32-bit) value.

Give it the name ‘DisableSearchBoxSuggestions’.

Double-tap it and change the “Value data” to 1 before pressing the “OK” button.

Finally, restart your computer. Bing Search should be removed from your Windows 11/10 system.

Using Group Policy to extract Bing Search from Windows 11 and 10

Look up “group policy” using the Windows key. “Edit group policy” will be displayed.

After that, navigate to Administrative Templates> Windows Components > Search under “User Configuration.”

Double-tap “Search” to start it. Locate “Do not allow web search” and “Don’t search the web or display web results in Search.”

Individual options can be accessed and enabled.

Finally, restart your Windows 11/ 10 machine. Bing Search should now be removed from all search components, including the Start menu, Taskbar, and File Explorer.

By following these simple instructions, you can simply uninstall Bing Search from your Windows 11 or 10 system, improving overall performance and search experience.
