Rumor has it that the United Kingdom must produce at least three spy films or series per year to avoid going under. In 2014, we will have the chance to discover the series in six episodes Black Doves on Netflix, made by the creators of The Lazarus Project And Giri/Haji, with Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire in the cast. So far, we only have a relatively sketchy scenario at our disposal. The series will follow Helen, a secret agent whose new lover disappears into the depths of the London Underground, but who can count on the help of an old friend. Not very accurate so far, is it?
However, more details were revealed in 2023, when the series was first announced. According to Variety, Helen is the apparently very devoted wife of a politician. However, she’s also been passing on her politician husband’s secrets to his spy agency, the Black Doves, for years (interesting…). However, when she begins a passionate affair that ends with her lover’s murder, she must call on an old friend, Sam, to keep her safe.
Helen and Sam then set out on a mission to find out who killed her lover, but as the investigation progresses, Sam’s troubled past comes back to haunt him. In this world populated by double agents and double dealing, we can legitimately expect some twists and turns.
Who do we find in the casting of Black Doves ?
Series Black Doves boasts a five-star cast. Keira Knightley plays Helen, her first major television role in many years.
In the role of the mysterious Sam, we find Ben Whishaw who abandons the adorable bear Paddington to play a darker, seedier character. Multi-awarded television actress Sarah Lancashire completes this trio. She offers herself a new string to her bow, after acclaimed performances in the series Happy Valley, Kiri And Julia Childsa recent HBO Max production in which she played the main character.
Joe Barton, to whom we owe the science fiction series The Lazarus Project and the incredible Giri/Haji broadcast on BBC One, pulls the strings. During his last stint at Netflix, he directed the series Evil and Sonwhich was not renewed.
When Black Doves will it be broadcast?
Netflix has not yet revealed the release date for Black Dovesimply saying that it will be released later this year.
The release of the new production was announced at the same time as the rest of the platform’s program for 2024.
