Why can’t I save in Red Dead Redemption 2? If you can’t save in RDR 2, there’s usually a simple reason. In this short guide we will explain what this is and how you can manually save the score with your progress.
Save manually in RDR 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 has autosave enabled by default. The auto-save function saves, for example, at the start and completion of a mission, at important milestones in the story, when you go to sleep in the camp or in the hotel room and after you have died or been caught by law enforcement and put in prison .
If you want, you can save manually at any time and it works like this.
- Open the pause menu and select the “Game” sub-item.
- Here you can now select “Save Game” and a storage location for the saved game in order to manually save your progress.
You can also load another save game using the “Game” sub-item.
Can’t save Red Dead Redemption 2?
Some RDR 2 players might ask themselves the question, why can’t I save in Red Dead Redemption 2? Why is it not possible to save and why do I see a lock symbol? If you can’t save your game manually, there’s usually a simple reason for it: you’re probably currently in a mission. Furthermore, you cannot save during a shootout, in dangerous situations or after activating the cheats. So far we don’t know of any way to save in RDR 2 despite cheats, as the save function is deactivated when the cheat codes are activated.
