Liberty Media recently implemented a huge price increase for F1 TV Pro. And now it appears that the streaming service is becoming even more expensive for subscribers.
In some countries you have to pay a lot of money if you want to watch Formula 1. In Great Britain, for example, you are obliged to take out a very expensive subscription for Sky Sports. In the Netherlands we were doing quite well for a long time, first with Ziggo as the rights holder and then a cheap subscription to F1 TV Pro.
But the latter is suddenly not so cheap anymore. While last year you could take out an annual subscription for 64.99 euros, this is anything but the case for 2024. The price has been raised by Liberty Media in the Netherlands to 94.99 euros for an annual subscription – a price increase of no less than 45 percent.
And that’s not all. It now appears once again that it is no longer possible to take out an annual subscription. You can only pay 11.90 euros per month separately. So you now spend almost 143 euros for twelve months. Even if you only take out a subscription for March to December (as long as the F1 season lasts), you will have to pay 119 euros.
Uncertainty about the price increase
Many fans are of course not happy with the enormous price increase, but the poor communication from Liberty Media in particular does not go down well with many. At first it was unclear whether the price increase would also apply to existing subscribers.
It later turned out that some fans are allowed to pay the old price, while others are more expensive. And informing subscribers about the new price has also happened to some and not to others.
Once again, communication is unclear. Will annual subscriptions be blocked for existing subscribers or will they be spared from this measure? It will be a matter of waiting and waiting.
