For the past few days, part of the community has complained that they no longer have access to developer mode. But fear not, we have the solution.
Since October 21, 2021, and this following Facebook policy change regarding the security of developer accounts, many Oculus Quest owners are having issues with their accounts. Unknown sources in the headset library no longer appear, the connection to the SideQuest app no longer works, and for them the developer section is no longer available in the Oculus mobile app.
Not everyone is in the same boat and the reason is simple as stated in the Oculus FAQ:
What is Developer Verification?
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a secure platform, all Oculus developers are required to verify their accounts by providing a payment method and / or a phone number. Developers from organizations with bank account information (i.e. published apps) are already in compliance. Accounts that are not audited may be subject to future action as described in our policy.
How can I verify my developer account?
- Go to https://developer.oculus.com/manage/verify/:
- If prompted, sign in with your Oculus Developer account.
- Verify your account with one of the following two options:
- Confirm your mobile phone number to set up SMS two-factor verification, please visit https://www.facebook.com/help/130694300342171 to make sure your country and phone company are supported for SMS;
- Add a payment method to your account (PayPal excluded).
If I have already set up two-factor verification, should I verify?
If you’ve set up two-factor verification with your Oculus account, you’re already in compliance and don’t need to verify. To verify if your account is verified, please visit https://developer.oculus.com/manage/verify.
If I have already added a payment method to my Oculus account, what should I check?
If you’ve already added a payment method (except PayPal), you’re already in compliance and don’t need to verify. To verify if your account is verified, please visit https://developer.oculus.com/manage/verify.
Therefore, by going to this address, with your Facebook credentials (the same ones attached to your helmet), you will be able to check and complete the missing information for the proper functioning of your developer account, namely a verified mobile phone number and valid credit card or payment method him too.
Following these changes, you may need to restart your headset and / or your mobile application to see the changes appear.
