How to hide when you are connected in Facebook Messenger

Today we’ll see how you can hide when you are connected on Facebook Messenger. It is a function similar to that of hiding the last connection time on WhatsApp or Instagram, whereby nobody will know when you are available on Facebook Messenger.

The process in Facebook Messenger has some trick, as you must disable the option on Facebook Messenger and also on Facebook. Otherwise, it will continue to show that you are active to other people.

1. Hide your availability in Messenger

To hide when you are connected to Facebook chat you will need to disable it in two parts. The first is on Facebook Messenger itself. Tap on your profile picture in the upper right corner to go to Messenger settings.

You will find here a green circle called Availability, or Availability, if your Messenger decides to change the language to English for no apparent reason as in my case. Tap this option to prevent other people from seeing when you are online.

Now yes, you will find here the switch for disable availability in Messenger. This setting works both ways, so if you prevent other people from seeing when you are online, you will also not be able to see when other people are online.

2. Disable Facebook chat

Do you think that deactivating availability in Messenger is enough? You’re wrong! The official Facebook application will keep saying that you are connected, so you must disable it here as well. First, tap on the menu button (the three horizontal stripes) to go to the settings.

Facebook’s list of apps and settings grows almost every day, so you might have a hard time finding Application settings. It is almost at the end, in the Settings and privacy section.

Now, finally, you can deactivate the option Facebook Chat, which will prevent the Facebook application from showing you as active in the service’s chat. If you followed the above instructions on Facebook Messenger and also on Facebook, from then on no one will know when you are online.
