How to put your face on a GIF, making memes that you can share on Instagram

We are going to explain to you how to create memes by putting your face on popular GIFs, so you can have fun sharing the result or even share it later on Instagram Stories. We are going to do it using an application called Doublicat, which uses a Deep Fakes system to insert your photo in the face of the actor or actress that appears in the memes.

The application is very similar to another called ZAO, and it even has somewhat better results. But if we are going to use this one, it is because ZAO is not available in Spain, and you cannot download it easily. Doublicat is very easy to use, and you can use the same face in all the memes you want.

Put your face on a GIF

The first thing you have to do is download the Doublicat application, you can download it on Android or iOS from Google Play and the App Store. When you run the application for the first time, you will have to agree to submit your face to the application and its terms and conditions with the two points that you have to press to mark. When you mark the two boxes as accepted, you can press the Continue button to continue.

The first step will be to take a photo with the application. That is the photo that you will later use in the compositions, and you have to make your head stay within the mark that appears on the screen. When you are, press the circle button and take the photo.

When you take the photo, a preview will appear so you can see how it turned out. The application will use what is left inside the box with which it frames your face, and if you are satisfied with the result you can click on the confirmation button below to move on.

You will reach the step where you will see a list with all the GIFs that you can modify, which are ordered by popularity and in different tabs. Choose the GIF you want to put your face on from among those shown by the application.

When you click on a GIF, you will see it on the moving screen. Below you will see the face that you are going to use, and you can click on it if you want to change it for another that you have saved in the app. To confirm press the Reface button shown below in blue.

If you click on the icon of your face with the arrows, a window will open in which you can change the face you are using or add a new one by pressing the + button. The application saves the photos you take so you don’t have to repeat the process every time you want to do it.

Once you have chosen the face to use and pressed the Reface button, the application will take a few seconds to make the modification. It will show you the result on a new screen, and below you will have three options to share the image he created with your face:

  • More: Open the context menu of your operating system to share it.
  • Save: Save the image to your mobile.
  • Stories: Share the image directly to Instagram stories.

If you choose the Stories option, the application will open Instagram and add the image you have created to the process of creating a story. It will take you to the pre-post screen, where you can add filters, stickers, and type however you want. Here you just have to edit the story as you like and publish it as you would on Instagram with any other.
