Media: Bloober Team has been working on a game about Alien in a medieval setting

Polish studio Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, The Medium and possibly the new Silent Hill) once worked on an alien game set in the Middle Ages. This was announced by the publication Gamepressure.

The project was first announced in July 2021. At the time, the game was codenamed Black, details of which were revealed in the documents the studio submitted to participate in the European Union-funded Creative Europe program.

Black was designed as a first-person action game with a focus on exploration, survival and close combat. The game was a story, and the hero had to make difficult moral decisions. One of the features should be a mysterious race of aliens that act as opponents.

Gamepressure claims that it was about xenomorphs. According to the plot, a certain group of cultists worshiped the monster, but at some point it broke out and killed the fanatics.

The developers had an unusual idea for presenting the game. At first they wanted to present her to the public as survivors in a medieval setting and tell about a secret cult and a certain deity. It was only after a few trailers that it became clear that the deity was the Xenomorph itself.

A few years ago, the project was reportedly brought to market by 20th Century Fox, who owned the rights to Alien at the time, and Ridley Scott himself. The idea was met with great enthusiasm, but in March 2019, the rights to the franchise passed into the hands of Disney and the project was completed.

Unfortunately, nothing is known about the current status of the game. In July 2021, Bloober Team CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski stated that the project’s concept had changed significantly.

As the newspaper notes, the idea of moving the alien to a different time period is not new. For example, in 1998, Dark Horse Comics published the comic Aliens: Stalker, in which the Vikings fought back against the Xenomorph.

  • A new Alien film and TV series are being prepared – they will not be connected to the previous films
  • A new trailer for the action/RPG Dolmen has been released, which looks like a mix between Dark Souls and Alien
  • There are new details about the Alien series that will reimagine the franchise
