Not receiving notifications in Telegram on iPhone? Here is a working solution to the problem

I think everyone has encountered this problem over the past couple of years. We began to use Telegram much more often, almost all of our contacts moved there. It has become more important to receive notifications on time and not miss them.

But for some reason, a strange problem regularly appears on the iPhone. Consistently once every couple of weeks, and sometimes more often, Push notifications from the “cart” stop coming.

Closing the messenger from multitasking does not help. Attempts to reconfigure anything, turn Wi-Fi or cellular Internet on and off, do not produce results.

After this, many people reinstall the Telegram application itself, losing the file cache. But there is a much simpler way.

How to fix the problem of missing notifications from Telegram

Solution: restart your iPhone.

I would be happy to write after this that I was joking. But I’m not kidding. Reboot your device and notifications will start coming again.

It often happens to me that my iPhone works for several weeks without a single reboot. But for some reason, notifications only fall off in Telegram; there is no such problem with all other programs.

It is important that you need to turn off your smartphone, and not just, say, update the firmware. For some reason, rebooting to install a new version of iOS does not help. But turning it off reliably returns all notifications.

Why is this happening? Perhaps this is due to the way the Push Notification system works on the iPhone. I asked the question to several iOS developers, but we did not find a clear answer. In their opinion, the issue is probably not in iOS, but in Telegram itself and how it works with Push.

One way or another, now you know what to do when you open the “cart” and see that you missed a bunch of DMs and important correspondence from somewhere. If only I hadn’t caught this bug at the most inopportune moment, it would have been great.
