On Channel 13 in Chile, the Star Wars characters pretended to grab beers when the movies went into advertising

Star Wars characters have experienced countless moments in which their lives have been at risk and they have had to fight tough battles against very powerful opponents. After so many altercations and tense situations, it is a good time to relax and, why not, have a good beer. Have you never seen Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker or even Emperor Palpatine take one?

Well yes, in the original films these three characters took a moment to drink beer, but don’t worry, it’s normal that you don’t remember having seen those scenes at some point because the truth is that they were not real. However, those who will know this curiosity best are those who are reading us from Chile and have watched Channel 13.

In 2003 and 2004 was when the original trilogy of films by Star Wars on this channel and they had a very peculiar way of going into advertising. The best thing is that you watch the following videos first and below you will find the explanation for everything.

As you can see, the television network did not cut off the broadcast of the film, but directly made a montage to sneak an advertising space into them, giving the impression that they are scenes that correspond to these feature films. This series of advertisements, with the name La Fuerza es con Cerveza Cristal, were created exclusively to be shown in this comical way.

Naturally, Emperor Palpatine would never have had a beer in front of Luke and Darth Vader, just as Master Yoda would never have allowed Luke to take a break just to drink a can of Cristal beer, although it is indisputable that these ads give off great originality in the way the drink is promoted.

What’s more, the campaign was so successful that the CCU (Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas) decided to repeat the game with other films, such as American Beauty or Gladiator, and even received several awards. What is clear is that, after seeing these ads, it will be difficult for you to get the Cerveza Cristal melody out of your head.
