Pair Qobuz with Google Assistant: High music quality on Google Nest

Qobuz is a very special music streaming service from France. Friends of high-end hi-fi equipment and music connoisseurs are offered a music shop with a large selection of digital albums and even their own music magazine with lots of information. The whole thing is rounded off by excellent sound quality.

However, you won’t find the functions common to music streaming services such as song lyrics, artist or album-specific playlists on Qobuz. You also have to do without a huge selection of podcasts like Spotify has. If you, as an expert music lover, also want to listen to Qobuz via your Google speakers, that is definitely possible.

Qobuz and Google Assistant: Is the connection successful?

The Google Assistant only supports a handful of streaming services. Especially if you use smaller services like Tidal, Souncdloud Go and Qobuz, you unfortunately have to do without controlling the music via voice command. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t use Qobuz at all via smart speakers like the Google Nest Mini.

It is still possible to connect to the speakers via Bluetooth. To do this, all you need is the Qobuz app and the Google Home app on your smartphone. Of course, your speaker must already be set up.

This is how you play Qobuz via Bluetooth

  1. 1

First you have to open the Google Home app and select “Devices” on the bottom bar.

  2. 2

There you can then choose the speaker you want.

  3. 3

You will then be taken to manual control of the device. Tap on the “Settings” (gear) at the top left.

  4. 4

Next, select “Audio” under “Device functions”.

  5. 5

Then tap on “Paired Bluetooth devices” in the list.

  6. 6

Then press “Activate pairing mode” at the bottom right.

  7. 7

Now leave the Google Home app and go to the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone. Turn on Bluetooth, search for the speaker and tap “Pair”.

  8. 8th

Google Nest is now connected to your phone. All content that you play on your smartphone is played via the Google Speaker.

The most important voice commands for Qobuz

Thanks to the Google Assistant, you can skip songs, play playlists or select genres. With the help of numerous voice commands, you don’t have to lift a finger. However, since Qobuz is not compatible with the voice assistant, you have to forego this easy operation.

Impact of Qobuz versions

The different versions of some music streaming services may affect the operation of Google speakers. This is not the case with Qobuz. This is due, among other things, to the fact that the service can only be subscribed to for a fee. The trial version also runs on the smart home speakers without any problems.

Change your Qobuz account

Do you want to change your account because, for example, a friend has a better selection of music to offer? Then you simply have to log out of the Qobuz app and then log in again with the desired account. This does not change the Bluetooth connection and songs can be played smoothly.

If you also use Spotify or Deezer, you can easily connect the services to the Google Assistant. Do you want to know whether Qobuz can be connected to Alexa? We’ll tell you in the linked instructions.
