If you like to record your gaming sessions on the PlayStation 5 as a video so that you can watch them again later or edit them on your PC and upload them to video platforms such as YouTube, you might want to use the integrated video clip function. To record gameplay on the PS5, all you have to do is hold down the Share button on the DualSense controller and start a new recording (similar to a screenshot). When using the function for the first time, one or two players may have the problem and no sound will be recorded on the PS5. With sound, the game sound is more of a problem, but rather the voice chat is not recorded. In this guide we will show you what the cause of the problem is and how you can record voice chat in addition to the game sound.
PlayStation 5: No sound when recording
In the “recording” settings for the “video clip” you can specify whether, in addition to the game sound, your own voice chat and the voice chat of others should also be recorded and included in the video.
- Start the PlayStation 5 and open the settings using the gear symbol.
- In the settings under “Recordings and transmissions” open the “Video clip format” sub-item.
- Check the boxes for “Include micro audio” (only your own microphone/voice chat) and/or “Include voice chat audio” (the entire voice chat with other players).
- Start recording and now the “complete sound” including game sound and voice chat should also be recorded.
No sound at all when recording on the PS5?
If the PS5 recordings have no sound at all, you should check the volume setting in the recording gallery or media gallery and turn it up. You should also make sure that the general volume and the volume on the television are set correctly and have not been accidentally set to silent.
