Matt Reeves and the creator of ‘Boardwalk Empire’ prepare a spin-off for HBO Max

The new cinematic Batman is positioning himself as the great bet of Warner’s DC films and beware because he is on the way to having his own Batverse on television. HBO Max has announced the arrival of a series that will keep company at the 2021 premiere of Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’.

Reeves is working with Terence Winter, creator of the wonderful ‘Boardwalk Empire’ to make a series that will expand the universe of villains and corruption that exist in the city of Gotham. What is the basis of the treatment that the filmmaker promises for the film.

And, truth be told, it is one of the genres that best suits the masked detective. And that they have signed Winter to do a television spin-off me seems incredibly successful for anything that has to do with corruption schemes, mafias and Gotham underworld. As Reeves says:

“It is a wonderful opportunity not only to expand the worldview that I am creating in the film but to explore it in the depth and detail that only a long form can afford – and to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so successfully and powerfully over worlds of crime and corruption, it’s an absolute dream ”

The Batverso arrives

Inside me I can’t stop thinking about a ‘Gotham’ more like ‘Gotham Central’ than what FOX offered us throughout its five seasons. An exploration of the darkest and most street part of the city can be a very worth seeing series.

Warnermedia has yet to give more details on this new series, but I imagine that having Comic-Con around the corner and a fan event next August we will soon know more about both ‘The Batman’ and its television spin-off.

What they do promise is that its premiere will mean the launch of a new Batman universe across multiple platforms. What that means for series like ‘Titans’ or if this indicates new video game sagas is anyone’s guess.
