Sims 4: Greater level height required

What does the “greater level height required” notice mean in The Sims 4? Why can’t you install a door or a window and what does that have to do with the higher level? This may be the question asked by one or other player of the popular life simulation from Electronic Arts who is currently in construction mode and receives the hint. Once you’re familiar with the basic controls of Build Mode in The Sims 4, it’s actually quite easy to build an entire house from the foundation. Every now and then, messages such as “Higher level required” appear, usually when you try to place a front door or a room door. We have summarized a few tips here on what it is all about and how to fix the “error”.

Greater level height required: what to do?

If the message “Higher level” is displayed for a door or window in construction mode, this means nothing other than that the height of the wall in which you want to install the door or window is too low. There are two solutions to the “problem”. Lately you can easily increase the wall height or use a smaller door/window.

  • Change wall height: To change the wall height you just have to click on the wall and at the top you will see three bars with “Deep Wall”, “Medium Wall” and “High Wall”.
  • Install a smaller door: When selecting a door, you can adjust the height of the door on the left side. You can choose between “Short Doors”, “Medium Doors” and “Tall Doors”.

Occasionally the error with the “larger level height” also appears with doors or windows that actually match the wall height. In this case it usually helps to switch from building mode to the game and/or to remove the wall and draw it again.
