How to Locate and Use Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3

While playing Baldur’s Gate 3 you will come across this special thing called Infernal Iron. You can find it in chests and hidden places in the game. At first you might not know what to do with it, but it becomes really useful in a quest called The Hellion’s Heart, especially when a character named Karlach joins your group.

Where to find Infernal Iron

You can find Infernal Iron in five places:

  • ruined village: It’s in a basement of a house. Be careful, the chest in which it is located may explode.
  • Shar’s Dungeon Gauntlet: There is a chest guarded by a necromancer named Balthazar.
  • Shattered Sanctuary: In the goblin camp, there is loot including the infernal iron.
  • Grimforge of Darkness: Do a quest for Stonemason Kith to get this, in a place called Underdark Grymforge.
  • Zhentarim’s Lair: Complete the quest “Find the missing cargo” and defeat the guards to find the Infernal Iron in a locked chest.

Use Infernal Iron

To use Infernal Iron, you need to do a quest with Karlach called The Hellion’s Heart. This iron helps repair his overheated engine. Here’s how:

  • Go to Emerald Grove.
  • Talk to a guy named Dammon, a blacksmith.
  • Give him the Infernal Iron to repair Karlach’s engine.
  • Karlach must be in your party for this to work.
