Here are Lewis Hamilton’s tips for making a sports jersey chic

We keep writing it but Lewis Hamilton is still, to this day, the best dressed driver in F1. Last weekend, the Briton demonstrated it again very well during the Austrian F1 Grand Prix. Alternately sporting cutting-edge designers like Rick Owens or more popular streetwear brands, the pilot proves with each of his outings that he is an unconditional fashion fan. He also shows that he can masterfully grasp the latest cool trends of the moment, and even initiate new ones. Last Sunday, July 2, Lewis Hamilton made his entrance accompanied by his bulldog Roscoe in an outfit featuring a top that looked like a sports jersey.

With a few details, the piece could in fact have been confused with the emblematic t-shirt that appeared at the end of the 19th century.e century to equip athletes for the first Olympic Games. Lewis Hamilton’s version, inspired by the sports jersey like the flocking and sponsor patches that it in turn uses, is nevertheless intended to be worn off the track. The t-shirt comes from the collaboration between the F1 champion and Tommy Hilfiger, as revealed by the neckline which features the famous logo of the New York brand. Even if Lewis Hamilton cheats a little with this more casual variation, his look updates the trend which consists of wearing a sports jersey with a completely normal outfit. And Lewis Hamilton even found how to make the sports jersey (super) chic. We decipher the three lessons to remember to adopt the sports jersey on a daily basis.

Choosing stylish pants

Forget jogging pants and other sports pants. Since you are already wearing clothing from a sports wardrobe, the point here is to rebalance everything with a piece from a more casual or even elegant wardrobe. Like Lewis Hamilton, we advise you to opt for a version in light tones and straight in the style of pleated pants. Well-cut straight jeans can also do the trick.

Add a pair of trendy sneakers

As for shoes, light Salomon sneakers can work like those chosen by the British driver at the Austrian Grand Prix. Be careful, however, not to reproduce the pitfall of combining a pair that is too sportswear: once again the goal here is to counterbalance the excessive sportiness of the swimsuit and make the outfit more elegant. So favor trendy sneakers, compatible with more “fashionable” outfits. To be sure not to make a mistake, a pair of boots with a large sole otherwise remains your best ally.

Focus on accessories

Where Lewis Hamilton excels is obviously in the art of accessorizing. The English champion wears several silver necklaces tight around his neck, as well as rings, bracelets and a watch. Here accumulating jewelry is precisely what gives the look its chic aspect. All the more chic since Lewis Hamilton favors simple pieces, in silver, as opposed to bling-bling. Well-chosen sunglasses – with a simple frame – will finally punctuate your look very nicely.
