Many people are not ready to buy them when they are selling at full price, but it is worth giving them a try when they are heavily discounted. Let me show you some of my picks.
428: Shibuya Scramble
428: Shibuya Scramble is a crazy Japanese FMV adventure game. The use of real actors did not prevent the creators from preparing a tightly twisted plot. The game surprises with crazy ideas every now and then, but at the same time tells an interesting and extensive story. This is one of a handful of titles that received a perfect (40/40) rating from the Famitsu magazine.
Heat Signature
Heat Signature is an action game with a bird’s eye view in which we board spaceships by ourselves. What makes this title unique is the freedom to act. The player receives a lot of gadgets and abilities, and the ability to pause the action allows you to fully use them. We can sneak, sabotage the on-board systems, set traps or try our hand in open confrontations. The opponents have extensive AI that simulates the reactions to our actions, which makes the entire game dynamic. All in all, the whole thing can be described as two-dimensional Dishonored.
INFRA
INFRA is another unusual production. This is an action adventure game that allows you to play the role of an engineer who specializes in the structural analysis of architectural defects and damage. This role is performed in the form of interesting logical puzzles, and the authors added a surprisingly good plot. In addition, the production has an amazing atmosphere and until the release of Half-Life: Alyx it was probably the most beautiful game built on the Source engine.
If you’re longing for the golden age of adventure games, then you should definitely check out Unavowed. This is a magnum opus by Wadjet Eye Games studio specializing in this genre. The game combines paranormal and detective threads, allowing us to investigate the occult mysteries of New York, while teaching us interesting facts about the true history of this city. The production also does not disappoint when it comes to puzzles. This is a position that Sierra would not be ashamed of in its best years. At the same time, it is not a title that focuses only on recreating old solutions. Unavowed offers a lot of fresh mechanics, ensuring a high non-linearity of the game.
Way of the Samurai 3 and 4
Way of the Samurai 3 and Way of the Samurai 4 are productions that can be described as samurai simulators. They combine elements of action games, adventure games and RPGs, enriching these genres with a large set of unusual solutions. These are not nice or polished productions. They are strange, often irritating, but at the same time they can be fascinating. For the full price, it would be difficult to recommend them, but for a dozen or so zlotys they are definitely noteworthy, especially for people looking for unusual experiences.
World of Horror
Can a game with black and white graphics made in MS Paint be scary? World of Horror shows that it is possible. This is an adventure RPG that allows you to play short horror stories, modeled on the Japanese representatives of this genre. The project is currently only available in Early Access (but it should get version 1.0 soon), but it already provides a lot of great fun and many completed stories. For me, it was the sweetest surprise of last year, and it has never been cheaper than the current Steam Winter Sale promotion.
