And the holiday rental comparator Holidu has produced a study which ranks the most popular beaches in France. The agency based itself on the Google Maps notes, and initially retained the beaches which had at least 500 comments.
Holidu subsequently refined its ranking by studying data from certain social networks: the number of publications on Instagram as well as the number of TikTok views for each beach made it possible to establish the final ranking. And the result is surprising. Indeed, while the most popular beaches in France this summer are all on the Mediterranean coast or in Corsica, Internet users’ favorite beach is not located in these regions and is actually… in Normandy.

This is how Omaha Beach climbs to first place in the ranking, with more than 132 million cumulative views on TikTok and no less than 152,376 publications bearing the hashtag #Omahabeach on Instagram. This Normandy beach, more than 6 km long, has truly won the hearts of tourists, thanks to its stretch of fine sand and its impressive cliffs but also thanks to its strong history.
Omaha Beach is indeed steeped in History: nicknamed “Bloody Omaha”, this beach was the scene of deadly battles during the Second World War, during the Landings which took place on June 6, 1944, making it Landing Beach. deploring the heaviest toll. Its historical heritage is therefore rich, since the place, already carrying a strong history, is supplemented by a Memorial Museum that many tourists visit. The Les Braves memorial monument also attracts attention, and appears on many publications on the web.
