We have seen (and tested) a prototype of Samsung’s new Galaxy Ring and yes, the ring points ways

Although there were certain rumors, no one expected that Samsung would take advantage of the Unpacked of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra to confirm its smart ring. It has been, however, a lukewarm announcement, Let’s call it a teaser. A video, a promise and nothing more. In short, we still have the Galaxy Ring among us, but From SamaGame we have already had the opportunity to see it with our own eyes. And not just seeing it, but touching it, trying it on and having an initial impression.

We did it in a private session accompanied by Hok Pak, vice president and Head of Digital Care at Samsung, who told us about the company’s vision when it comes to health. And in all fairness, we have not tested a final model, but rather a prototype. A prototype that, yes, They confirm that it is quite close to the final model. Unfortunately, we have not been able to take photos or record videos of the product and there are things we cannot talk about because they are subject to change. That said, this is what we have seen.

This is the Samsung Galaxy Ring

Talking about the design of a ring is not easy, but let’s try. We haven’t really seen a single prototype, but many models of the same prototype in different sizes and colors. The rings go by size and the Samsung one was not going to be any less. In fact, the weight of the device will vary depending on the size and, surely, so will the autonomy as it does in smart watches. A larger ring has more space, there is no more.

What we don’t know is what tools Samsung will give us to know our size. “There are ways,” they tell us, but they do not confirm which ones. This was the usual tone when asking questions about the device and its functions, since Samsung is still working on the final product. However, we can think of an app with which we measure the diameter of a ring that we already have by putting it on the screen or something like that. It would be easy and functional, but we’ll see.

From what we have been able to see, the ring will be available in several colors, but none of them are strident. They are sober colors and surely we can get an idea of what they are. In any case, “it is subject to change”, so we will see how they arrive for the launch. In any case, we are going to stick with that idea: unless something changes, it will be available in different colors.

As far as construction is concerned, The Galaxy Ring is made of titanium and is surprisingly light. A few days ago we published
