What do Chinese players name the characters in League of Legends?

Have you ever wondered what Chinese LoLa players name characters? Who do you think they call Obama, the Moon, or the Big Mouth?

Probably many of you use short nicknames for various characters. For example, we will take my shortlist which he uses when playing with friends:

  • Male on top – Nasus
  • Zedowy Mage – Zoe
  • Monkey – Yasuo
  • Lantern – Thresh
  • The Spicy Woman – Irelia

However, Chinese players decided to create a common list in which they use nicknames for individual characters.

The list looks like this (in English):

  • Aatrox – Sword Demon – because Aatrox’s Chinese title features “Darkin Sword Demon”
  • Ahri – Fox – I don’t think you need any explanation here
  • Alistar – Bull | Ox
  • Amumu – MUMU – just MUMU
  • Anivia – Phoenix | Ice Bird – Anivia title
  • Ashe – Ice – because it has an element of ice
  • Aurelion Sol – Dragon King
  • Azir – Sand Emperor | Golden Crispy Chicken – this is one of the dishes in the Chinese KFC. Crispy in Chinese means “Squishy” and Azir is squishy | Yellow Chicken
  • Blitzcrank – Robot – because he is indeed a robot
  • Brand – Fire Man
  • Braum – Uncle
  • Caitlyn – Policewoman
  • Cassiopeia – Snake lady
  • Cho’Gath – Big worm / bug / insect – because it’s BIG

  • Irelia – Sister Blade | Female blade-wielder
  • Janna – Wind Girl
  • Jarvan IV – Prince
  • Jax – Weapon – because there is “Weapon Master” in Jax’s Chinese title, so after shortening “Weapon”
  • Jhin – JHIN
  • Kalista – Skateboard Shoes – This is probably one of the least understood nicknames for Westerners. It contains a dead meme in China that was still alive when Kalista was released.
  • Karma – Mama fans
  • Karthus – Death Song
  • Katarina – Kata
  • Kayle – Angel
  • Kennen – Electric rat
  • Kha’Zix – Mantis – Praying Mantis
  • Kog’Maw – Big Mounth – Big lips
  • LeBlanc – Female Trickster
  • Lee Sin – The Blind | Blind Monk – he is blind
  • Leona – Sun Lady | Female tank – sun, tanky woman
  • Lissandra – Ice Lady – Ice Lady
  • Lucian – Obama – obviously a reference to Barack Obama, former president of the United States
  • Lux – Shining Light

  • Miss Fortune – Sister Fortune | Female Gunslinger – she is young, uses a gun
  • Mordekaiser – Metal

Unfortunately, the author did not finish his list with all characters, so Zed, Zoe, Zyra and others were missing.

And how do you simply name the characters?
