Android 14: Which Galaxy will benefit from it?


The next operating system, Android 14, is currently in the testing phase at Google. It should start rolling out to mobiles this fall. If you have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, it is legitimate to wonder if your device will benefit from this update. Samsung has not yet communicated officially on the subject. However, the Korean giant’s update policy already gives us some indications of the eligible models.

Early 2022Samsung has announced a new policy regarding Android updates. This announcement was seen as a significant improvement from Samsung. Especially since the company has indicated that it wants to provide a better user experience for its customers.

What changes with this policy?

With this new approach, Samsung is committed to providing regular updates for its Galaxy smartphones. Especially when it comes to new versions of Android. This means that some models will receive updates for a longer period.. As for the others, they may receive security patches more frequently.

Galaxy models eligible for update to Android 14

We have taken into account the information available on Samsung’s update policy. Additionally, we reviewed the manufacturer’s previous announcements regarding software support. So, here is a non-exhaustive list of Galaxy models that should benefit from the update to Android 14:

Galaxy S series

This high-end series is undoubtedly the one that will benefit most quickly and widely fromAndroid 14. Models such as the Galaxy S23, S22 and their variants are very likely to receive this update as soon as it is deployed in the fall of 2023.

Galaxy Note series

The Galaxy Note series is among the company’s premium mobiles. Thus, we can expect that recent models can receive Android 14. This is the case of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. However, it will likely take a few weeks or months after the initial release to see these devices receive the update.

Galaxy A-Series

For mid-range smartphones, the situation is slightly less clear. Some flagship Galaxy A series models, such as the Galaxy A52, A72 and their successors, may benefit from the update to Android 14. However, the deployment may be slower. On the other hand, the chances are lower for some earlier versions of the series.
